Hey man, new follower. Love this video. New to mobile radios for prep and outdoors. Sounds like this might be a nice entry level radio for my wife and I. Thank you!

Good stuff man just picked up a couple of those uv 9r pros on prime day. I have the apparently discontinued uv9r plus but wanted a few more as they appear a lot more robust than the uv5rs and the audio clarity is a lot better

@protectpersevere2030 yeah there alot more robust than a uv5r for not much more money. They really are hard to beat for the money

We need 4 radios for moose hunting and the motorolas don't cut it. Are these ready to go out of the box? ( Unlocked )? We just need to communicate between the 4 of us. Thanks mate 😊👍

They do have the typical Baofeng dirty transmissions. That said, given their price point, the UV-9R Pro's and DM-1701's are now our primaries. The older UV-82's given to neighbors after programming.

I just picked up a uv-17r. I have absolutely NO idea about anything on these kind of radios. Closest I have come was using a basic walkie talkie. So far about all I know is they don't come ready to go and that I should use CHIRP software to set it up. I don't know any of the lingo or any of the technical terms, nothing. I do have a lot of other tech experience, I have spent years doing like rooting/jailbreaking phones and using CMD prompts and things like that so I am sure I'll figure it out.

The menus on these radios once You figure it out is not that bad. There is really only a handful of settings you even need. I personally program all mine breakthrough the face not using software like chirp. It is faster once you figure out chirp but it doesn't take that long manually program. I usually put FRS GMRS Murs than any GMRS or ham repeaters in the area. And if the local police are still analog you can listen to them as well. There's lots of videos on how to program these that's how I learned..

I have 2 Baofeng UV-9RPRO and I can't pick up anything but static except for the NOAA Weather band. It's trying to receive because the light comes on. I don't have a Ham Licence yet so I can't talk on it.
