Graham's level if compassion & and endless degree of understanding Adams challenges blew me away...regardless of who crosses the finish line 1st, the Big-Heart Award goes directly to Graham. This was a beautiful example of when men are men in all ways

Globe 5.80 Solo Transatlantic: UK Adam Waugh on 'Little Wren' Weekly Calls Update 1 with Graham Cox - 27/01/2025:
Adam's Condition and Sailing Strategy: Adam discusses his physical condition, specifically sore ribs that affect his ability to perform certain tasks like sail changes. He's cautious and mainly sails with a reefed main and storm sail to minimize the need for movement, which could exacerbate his pain.
Sleeping Arrangements: Adam mentions he can only sleep comfortably on his back due to his rib injury, but finds it generally peaceful to sleep in the open ocean.
Safety and Navigation Equipment: Adam uses AIS and Ecomax for safety and navigational alerts, which helps him maintain awareness of nearby vessels, although he mostly encounters other vessels via radio.
Encounters with Other Sailors: He has radio contact with other sailors like John Blankensop and Christian but hasn’t visually spotted them, just communicated over distances.
Frustrations with Technology: Adam expresses frustration with the YB tracker app, which he deleted due to functionality issues and concerns that it led to poor decision-making among sailors who focused too much on it.
Handling of Injuries: The discussion touches on Adam’s coping strategies for his rib injury, including avoiding actions that trigger pain like sneezing or laughing, and practical tips like holding a pillow over the chest to mitigate discomfort.
Domestic and Exercise Limitations: Adam's ability to cook and move around is limited due to his injury, affecting his daily activities and increasing his time spent in the cabin.
Psychological Impact of Injury: The injury has dampened Adam's spirits, making the trip less enjoyable and affecting his overall outlook during the race.
Hygiene and Conservation Strategies: Adam discusses his water and food conservation strategies, using salt water for washing and cooking to preserve fresh water for drinking, and his dietary habits including reliance on sardines.
Navigational Practices and Equipment Maintenance: Adam has had to adjust his sailing practices due to his condition and the boat's equipment state, including handling gear failures and maintaining his boat’s cleanliness.
