They made the F/A-18 along with Grumman from the YF-17 i believe, and the F/A-18 and F-15 are now made by Boeing who bought MDD.

I was really hoping that this legendary fuckup by McDonnell technicians working on a completely unfamiliar Lockheed-designed fairings (and refusing to let them inspect their work) would make it into a video that's supposed to be McDonnell propaganda. For those unfamiliar, NASA launched essentially a separate practice docking target on Gemini IX for the crew to dock with. When the crew arrived, they found the payload fairings still strapped to the vehicle, resembling an "angry alligator", mouth agape. This completely fucked over the mission objectives because McDonnell technicians who were working on the vehicle prior to launch said "imma wing it" on something they most definitely should not have winged. A tale as old as time in the aerospace industry.
