Yeah. Especially with the Disney movies that they released this year and Pixar's movies that came out this year. Yeah Pixar's storytelling is far better that Disney wishes it can be.
This is a topic that really frustrates me. A lot of people think Kids movies should just be mindless comedy to make kids laugh because kids will laugh at anything. But when the film makers take a kids movie and really try with the story telling, they can make something really beautiful.
Meanwhile, everyone acts like just because a Godzilla movie is a giant-monsters movie then no giant-monster in there should look realistic & believable, nevermind the fact that we've got plenty of adaptations before that adapted favorite classic characters, made them look realistic and it was actually good. One good example is 2014's 'GODZILLA'.
It's insane if Disney thought a same-sex kiss in Lightyear was the reason why that flopped because I'm certain I'm not the only person who watched this video who had no idea that was in the movie until you brought it up (because no one watched it) This is the most spineless a studio has proven themselves to be since Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera
1:48 I personally agree with this because I have a son, but I don’t think these sketchy and greedy studios that tend to ALWAYS get away with things behind the scenes be the ones to influence my child to be a woman or man. We as parents should be responsible for educating our children so they don’t make a mistake at such a young age. Nobody wants to be a woman out of nowhere…they’re influenced by something.
As a trans person, I do think that being trans is a very complicated and difficult thing for a person to go through, and kids aren’t going to understand the complexities of it. But at the same time they should know about these things. They should know that trans people exist and that it’s okay to be trans. And seeing trans people on tv shows/movies/video games isn’t going to make your child trans. Every single tv show/movie/video game I’ve watched/played has had cis people in it. I’m still trans.
Chris, thank you for coming at this story with a level head. Your response demonstrates nuance and understanding in a world full of reactionary consumers. Don't listen to the people in these comments, they are part of the problem and they know it - that's why they're so damn loud.
I feel like the film community has a large chunk of it that’s really right wing and anti “woke” so it means a lot to me that one of my favorite creators is so openly against it. Thanks for being you Chris it means a lot never change
I don’t think being anti-woke and right wing are mutually exclusive. You can be against overly and overtly woke agenda pushing in entertainment and not be right-wing.
@@tmac326except what they’re doing is McCarthyism. People say they’re alt right cuz they act like how they did back in the 40s-50s. Targeting anything slightly left leaning and most just being yellow journalism at this point. They don’t even know what woke means or deliberately twist it to idiots who will repeat what they say. It’s just being aware of and not just accepting injustice. That’s just social commentary in media and that’s a good thing, bad writing isn’t and can ruin anything. And what would companies get out of pushing this “agenda”? It’s just another baseless and stupid conspiracy theory built off of the misguided, dishonest, the stupid and/or delusional. And Disney doesn’t give af about any queer people. The same mfs who cut out lgbt scenes for certain countries, the guys who tries to kill owl house for having lesbians, the guys who Alex Hursts basically called out for mistreating queers behind closed doors, them being so afraid of making Riley “look gay”?! And now this
@tmac326 coining the term 'woke' to mean what it means today is objectively a right wing shift, and it's not a small one either. Especially when this form of storytelling has always existed. Getting triggered to the extent some audiences get instead of just electing to not watch the material is blatant pos behavior and does nothing but harm to film discourse as a whole.
It really does depend on the subject. Themes of bodily mutilation and identity confusion are highly mature topics that should not be glorified in children's media. We have the last 10-15 years of the 2SLGBTQAI++ being normalized in society, and we have seen the effect it has on people - the fruits of the movement are far from good, let alone child friendly.
I understand it’s a powerful topic and could save lives, but as a parent, I agree with this decision. Keep sexuality away from children’s films and let them learn about it when the time is right.
this isn’t sexuality. you know how many friends of mine would be much happier if they were understood as children instead of ignored? all people’s stories deserve to be seen and heard, that includes trans people. there is nothing inherently sexual about transgender people
There's always gonna be those who hate anything that's diverse or spreads a certain message and that sucks, especially those who capitalize on the hate like those UA-camrs which deserve nothing but the worst. That being said, it's the handling on these topics that's been the real issue and unfortunately, that's more than half the case with the industry. Worse yet, the companies bundle the "wokies" and people who fairly criticize the shows/movies/etc. together making everyone the bad guy just to cover up their mess that they themselves have started.
I sort of agree with you and don’t agree with you. Yes, there are scummy people who hate diverse projects, but that’s a small fraction of the audience. Disney and other companies just choose to label all critics as that, which is why they keep failing. They can’t take criticism.
@1234JohnstoneStudios You're right however people can be loud no matter how small they are and have the biggest impact. It's the reason we don't get better things even though the majority agree that we should.
It really depends on how the message is being portrayed, i remember u said the environmental messaging in Aquaman 2 brought the movie down, the messaging in Hoppers might’ve been too hamfisted, we don’t know
I think it depends on how well it fits the film. Walle’s message worked because it was integral to the story it was telling. Elemental’s didn’t because it didn’t make sense and wasn’t nessecary
Parents don’t want that kind of subject matter in their children’s programming. Anything someone likes can “save lives”, but it’s not a company’s responsibility to do that at the cost of their reputation, their ability to tell stories, and their ability to leave an audience happy. They made the right choice 10/10 end of discussion
Couldn’t agree more! Although personally I don’t believe Disney is JUST for kids (as Walt Disney himself said adults were always a target demographic, because they’re the ones who, as he put it: “have the money”). They used to be more of a family friendly company. But Bob Iger has taken it upon himself to skew the company’s morals/goals to pander to angry feminists, the alphabet mafia, and race hustlers. It’s cost the company hundreds of millions - billions of dollars, and hopefully now we’re beginning to see the company desperately scramble to survive, dethroning Iger, and rediscovering their family friendly wholesome storytelling roots.
Yea that can be easily disproven by the times they have made LGBTQ+ post and act like they’re in full support of it and plus we’re talking about the same company that blame the failure of Lightyear on a kiss scene other than anything else
Still, Disney isn't for the marginalized anyway. The same parents that don't want that type of subject matter in their children's programming is also racist, But what am I to judge. 🤷♀️
It's hilaruously annoying how Disney chooses to add LGBT in every cjance to annoy people, like the Acolyte and Strange World, and yet when it has the chance to actually represent and help people, they say f off
I'm mixed on the trans thing getting cut: I like the idea of trying to help the community but I hate when LGBT stuff keeps getting shoved down out throats.
How much you wanna bet if Disney does this they’re gonna make more money I don’t care what you’re talking about. Tell me what woke entertainment made money online for Disney. Tell me tell me right now.
Overthinking simple trivial things is not critical thinking, pretending that centuries of common sense are outdated is not either, it's existential crisis at its best. Humans figured out basics like "fire burns" and "don't drink poison" for a reason. These so-called critical thinkers aren't breaking new ground, they're just rediscovering why bad ideas were left behind.
Cris, as the person who is trans myself, also drew you at a pony that one time, the news about this is heartbreaking to me. My family has never been supportive (or parents to begin with) but I had friends to help me. would have loved to see a trans character in Pixar. I see the comments of people saying that their parents should tell them... I beg to differ, from personal; experience, my parents are the worst people in the world, from killing animals, to stealing money from others. I feel like there should be a balance for them to talk about it in movies and with parents.
gurl/boy, there are tons of characters who are trans. There already is a balance in modern media and it does need to be lessened due to how problematic it actually is for children. Kids shouldn't be worried about their identiy. Yes, it will be a thing that will always happen as it is human, but they shouldn't be fed ideas that they're maybe the opposite gender. 😭😭
Thats an issue with your parents and your specific scenario. I'm sorry that your parents suck and you have had a bad experience. But you can't generalize based on that
@@zachdeppe5043Representation is important so that the persons who are being represented feel seen, heard, and accepted and for people in general to learn to respect and accept the ones being represented.

I just wanna get good movies again, Sonic 3 was such a great movie and i wish we could get more movies with heart, LGBTQ included or not, as long as its fun and good to the audience and critics, it'll be fine.
@Mariofanaticanimationsbecause God forbid that reasonable people speak up against the ideology that supports the gender confusion and the mutilation of innocent impressionable children who are not old of enough to drive or make sexual decisions. God forbid that we speak against things in entertainment that could poison the minds of innocent children who would be kept innocent. Insanity
Tbf you’re talking possibly of a child character being trans. Thats kind of promoting the idea that a child has capacity to make such a life changing choice having reasonably thought everything through. Kids questioning and asking questions about their gender when they’ve not even reached or finished puberty is very dangerous and irresponsible.
I find it weird how the people happy this is removed champion how their ‘anti cancel-culture’ yet they’re happy when something they don’t like get canceled??🤦♂️
Cris, hearing your thoughts about how Disney is bringing Pixar down has given me some sense in some of the films that we got even before the pandemic. Take Incredibles 2 for example for a the first movie we know that they made that movie to be for both kids and adults while the second film didn’t have that same element of humor. So hearing your thoughts about this has me wondering are they going to make Incredibles 3 worth seeing or is Disney just not gonna let Pixar do their part and make just and awesome and funny as the first movie was.
Why? Some kids do feel that way. I went to a prek-12 school and as a kid I knew which kids were gay, by highschool those kids came out. The same way I as a kid had crushes on girls, other kids have on their own gender. You don’t become gay, you are that way. Do you choose everyday to make the decision to be straight? No. So why pretend as a child you didn’t have crushes or interest in girls, obviously it wasn’t sexual, but love and feelings were something we experienced and understood. Why can kids watch movies with straight couples and that’s appropriate but gay couples aren’t appropriate? What’s the difference?
@ I know that people feel that way and if parents want their kids to know it up to them because my parents teach us about them but I don’t feel like tv should be doing especially because they push it on tv and it feels like they’re trying to make people question everything and I don’t like that even as a kid I noticed it and felt it was wrong
@@marioperez9394 Just because kids are shown something or told something doesn’t make them that way. If that were the case, it wouldn’t be a struggle for kids to eat vegetables, and it would be VERY easy to raise children if they did everything you told them and became the person someone wanted just because they are shown a certain lifestyle. Kids don’t work that way, humans don’t work that way. And also not every parent introduces kids to that, they try to shelter them and hide it, that is a part of society, and how some people love and live their life, kids should know how society works instead of sheltering them.
The "go woke or go broke" mob mentality is terrible for a company to be doing on themselves. I don't care what anyone says about these movies but Turning Red or Elemental might be the last good Pixar movies with a message about people and relationships. I'm still pissed with how people first reacted towards Turning Red and the people who started to say these things about the movie that were completely false. One thing is not liking a movie because it made you feel uncomfortable from a subjective point of view and the other is just flat out blaming the studio that just wanted to release good art and be experimental with their stuff, and painting all of that like it's a bad thing to do in society. That I believe was where the woke grifters in modern kids movies started to happen. Disney is destroying themselves by listening to the wrong people on the internet. Woke grifters are a bunch of troubled individuals who should just be left alone on their own island and not be given any sort of attention by anyone. Leave them to their corruption and ignore those minorities. It would be a lot better for a general audience community if everyone started doing that by not giving any attention to those depraved individuals because I truly feel that if everyone does listen to those zelics, our society will actually fall.
I don’t think Disney is being cowardly all they care about is their bottom line nothing more and we shouldn’t be looking to them for ‘moral values’ to grandstand on
Bro have you not watched a disney or pixar movie? even a movie period? all pixar movies and most movies have a moral message that is the point of a story
they used to allow more mature and meaningful stories but now the corporate side of disney as poisoned the art. you think 2024 disney would allow an anti corporate movie such as wall e? would they allow a scene like mr incredible rebelling against his health care executive boss and sending him to the hospital?
Isn't that what Disney and Pixar movies are? Teaching morals, lessons, manners, etc. to children in an interesting way? You're only flipping now bc you find yourself on the opposite end of what the writers think this time around. You think being trans is morally wrong and kids shouldn't see it so they don't get the same idea. Fear is the culprit.
I think you're way off. While it does suck that the trans storyline was taken out, we don't know how this show will even turn out let alone Hoppers. Plus, this is coming from what sounds like to me a disgruntled employee
I don't see any other reason why Light-year flopped other than than the 🏳️🌈 kiss scene, regardless of the movies' overall quality. That kiss got the movie banned from a multitude of countries, and was basically the only thing people were hearing about that movie before and after its release. Toy story 4 made $1 Billion, the kiss was the only explanation for Light-year only making $200 million.
Honestly, I’m going to say this right now. I think both the executives at Disney and Pixar need to calm down because I think this has gone too far actually to the point that honestly they need to stop doing this actually
This is actually good news wtf Chris?!? l get it you want to cater to everyone but Disney has not been nothing but garbage truck juice these past years and you know it but you just cant say it.
What? Do you need a map? Because you’re going nowhere with your point. The quality of recent content Disney is distributing has nothing to do with this, and Cris is not saying the opposite to “cater to everyone”. He’s just saying the news and his honest opinions, he’s not sponsored by Disney. Also this is bad news, because representation of a marginalized group is important so that the people of the group can be seen, heard and appreciated and for people that or not of the group to learn to love.
Chris is being a hypocrite. He said that he "understands" why parents would want to speak with their kids about it, yet a few seconds later he starts saying that people complaining about it are "babies".
It sucks that the transgender episode for win or lose had officially become lost media but I am still excited for the series since Pixar is finally doing more original ips outside of their more familiar popular franchises
As a parent myself... there are some things I would rather talk to my kids about when I feel it's the right time and age, NOT what a giant corporation says needs to be discussed. Let kids be kids, and let parents be parents. Nothing is wrong with "a very special episode," but they must tread VERY carefully. Especially on that subject matter because not everyone will agree, especially in a program that's focused on kids or about kids. Most parents are starting to feel uncomfortable with the newer Disney content because of what was considered safe for kids. Parents would have to screen everything they put out, which wasn't like that before.
may i ask what about new disney content hasn't been safe for kids bc i feel almost the opposite that everything feels way more dumbed down and shallow than it used to be. no disrespect tho just a genuine question
It wasn't like that before bc Disney had no interest in those stories mostly due to bigotry and biases. But I expect the screen to change overtime just as the people who live in our society do. I mean I bought my mom 200 or so musicals and put them in release order. We're about 8 movies in, and in the 50s, and I'm waiting for when black people are gonna be aloud on screen. Ok but if it’s an episode that’s able to be erased it’s also able to be skipped why couldn’t they just leave the episode and let parents who don’t want to show their kids that one episode just skip it.
Still can't believe that Disney backed out on making Riley in Inside Out 2 potentially gay because of that TWO-SECOND kiss scene in Lightyear. Not because it was a poorly marketed and boring ass movie that disrespects what made the Toy Story movies special, but because of two ladies kissing. What a fuckin world we live in...
Ask the people on the “anti-woke” side to watch to check out the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the original Black Christmas. The two examples that has topics that they would be complaining about it and yet those who have reviewed them knows tackling those topics doesn’t hurt the films and how movies should handle social commentary without preaching, which why the Netflix requal and the Blumhouse remake has failed.
To be honest I’m not 100% on the idea of 🏳️⚧️ BUT removing people’s stories is NEVER a good thing. Like it or not trans people exist and they deserve to portray their stories just like everyone else. The more stories we get allowed to be shown the more people will understand what these people go through and be more accepting (me included)
I have mixed feelings on this. I think it's important for some movies to have messages or commentary, but there should be a limit. When it comes to LBGTQ+ representation, I think it should be less noticeable. Rather, you like it or not, we have to take into consideration that some people are religious and don't want their kids to see a movie that's preaching something they see as wrong. We must also address how Disney is very one-sided with politics. I'm not against movies addressing politics, but you need to be smart about it and not just be like "one side good one side bad." Like I said, I had mixed feelings on this, but in the meantime, I think it's for the best.

You’re wrong in this one. It’s wrong to tell kids that being the opposite gender will help just because they aren’t alone. They should make a movie telling of how it’s ok to feel uncomfortable in one’s body but it’s great to be who you are.

@@Isaacthebiggestmoviefan57 oh right my bad
"Evil cannot create anything new. It can only corrupt and ruin what good forces have invented or made."
- JRR Tolkien (I think)
yea he never said that lmao
It's insane if Disney thought a same-sex kiss in Lightyear was the reason why that flopped because I'm certain I'm not the only person who watched this video who had no idea that was in the movie until you brought it up (because no one watched it)
This is the most spineless a studio has proven themselves to be since Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera
💯
Body and gender dysmorphia exist and those issues should always be taken seriously
@ThreeLeafChlover trans are about 2% of the population, you can't compare trans and cis
Say Banana and show a yellow booty on screen is the most out of context saying in 3c films

By that logic we should also get rid of any romantic stories involving heterosexuality in their movies, no?
@@sonicwontletmeleaveyes thank you for finally saying it cus people who says something like that really needs to relook on what they have said

It's such a shame that Disney is doing this to Pixar! I want the original movies to do better in the future as well!!

@ Yeah that’s pretty much what I meant, honestly I don’t even remember an environmental message in Elemental though ngl lol
@ honestly I didn’t watch it, cause of the kiss…so the story could have been terrible as well,

I don’t think Kids should be learning about trans and being gay and all that until they’re at least 12 Hollywood needs to stop pushing it
They shouldn’t be taught about it at all, kids should not have this sort of thing forced onto them it’s outright disgusting no matter what age.
@ Why can kids see straight couples and not gay couples?
Why are you acting like caring about the bottom line is a good thing? Cooperate greed is what’s ruining art in the first place
they used to allow more mature and meaningful stories but now the corporate side of disney as poisoned the art. you think 2024 disney would allow an anti corporate movie such as wall e? would they allow a scene like mr incredible rebelling against his health care executive boss and sending him to the hospital?
Or maybe cuz it was first movie coming out of pandemic going to theaters after 3 movies went straight to disney+
Or because it was a confusing spinoff with bad writing and barely any advertising?
I wanna thank the other two replies here cus you said it better than me cus the main person who’s commenting really doesn’t understand anything
I only think it’s the reason you gave plus other reasons in the comments. Ultimately it was a combination of factors that led to a train wreck

I'm not against movies addressing politics, but you need to be smart about it and not just be like "one side good one side bad." Focus on good storytelling and the message can be in the background most of the new stuff focus on message first and the story second
As a trans person the canceling of the trans episode is BS it needs to be tought no matter what becyse transphobic perents will teach there kids its wrong this is awfull becuse then theres more hate in the world disney needs to see this or the world is heading for a dark place

@@KoopaTroopa-c3h Bros going for the minor spelling mistake attack
There was a 3 year old child who was convinced that they were trans and had surgery. Pretty sure that it isn't a good idea for kids to have an identify crisis ngl.

Bro Disney finally not being woke isn’t them ruining Pixar, I’d reword the title it’s very misleading.
Fr Disney is healing 😂
Yea come to talk to me when you wanna try to excuse the time they blame Lightyear’s failure on a kiss scene other than anything else
@@hislambo5243 "isn't them ruining pixar" while they cut a whole episode and want to cancel the message of a whole movie. Seems to me the title is correct
@@haimay5767 No, the topic of transgender politics has no place in KIDS films or shows. Therefore, Disney removing it contrasts many decisions they’ve made previously in supporting the woke agenda. So no. It’s saving Disney, and leaves the transgender topic for parents to discuss with their kids if they want. Which by the way, a lot of parents don’t want their kids being exposed to that.

Movies are for entertainment, not messages!!!! We disconnect from our crappy reality, not deal with our current crap in entertainment as well. I watch movies to turn off the brain not to hear preaching.
That's dumb. Why can't movies have messages to them? Some of the greatest and most iconic movies ever made have some type of message to them, while still being entertaining.
Well, then you clearly don’t understand the purpose of art and its effect over the centuries.
Idk if you know this but all art has a message if you like it or not
@@kamiee301 Even the Beves and Butthead movie had a message to it.
This feels Anti Art
I love Diseny and Pixar and I always will until I leave this earth but yes they need to chill a little I'm all out for them putting a little bit of lgtq stuff in there with this day age that's what we need because with the kids these days ( no hate) there not gonna know what a gay person is or whatever yes I do think should explain it to them so they know what to expect in life etc thats all
While I get what Christ is saying about messaging and art in film, stuff like Trans storyline’s shouldn’t be in shows or movies for children. I’m sorry but that’s just how it should be.
Nah. Artists should be allowed to make what they want and it's up to the parents to filter shit they don't like, or are scared of their son/daughter being, out. (bc that's the true fear here)
@@Antwannnn I’m sorry, I literally did not understand that last part of what you said.
@@1234JohnstoneStudios after the comma I basically am saying that people who will "teach their children instead of Disney" are just not saying the real truth. They think sexuality and gender can be flipped on a dime so they'd rather their kids never see the LGBTQ community acknowledged in any way. They don't want their kid to be a "freak" or "mentally ill" like those people. Which is fine we're all not dealt great parents. But the artists should be able to make art they want THEIR kids to watch. And it's up to the parents who disagree to not allow their kids to watch.
@@Antwannnn transition: Nah. Artists should be allowed to confuse and sexualize kids further and it is up to the parents to filter everything since in this modern era, pandering is everywhere towards "minorities"
@@1234JohnstoneStudios read again I rearranged shit.
I gotta be honest, lost a lot of respect for you man. Sexuality isn't something that needs introduced to kids in film. Hollywood has a need to indoctrinate kids early, and its disgusting. Let kids grow up and learn about these things uninfluenced by the TV. Its not because i am "woke". Its because i believe in boundaries. I also found your comments towards Tim Allen to be strange. Why did you feel the need to state that you still like him even though hes conservative? Why does that even matter bro. Really kinda showed a different side to you here.
I gotta disagree Chris. They aren’t just catering to those people who are “anti woke” or far right. They’re catering to the general audience. They always have. Disney has always been a minion or whatever you said. They cater to the general audience. They did the same by putting in LGBTQ stuff. They didn’t do it because they knew it was the right thing. They did it because it was business. It’s business now.
Btw these new Pixar movies have been lowkey stinky. Beside inside out 2, Pixar hasn’t been doing well. Disney is just tryna make sure it caters to the general audience to make more money.
Yeah chris wtf man why you defending this?... but ofc you have no children like you said...but shit man you dont have nephews nieces?
Cuz he has a kind heart, level head, and empathizing soul. Pretty simple to be honest.
Claiming that Wicked and Barbie made money because they were "vvoke" is pure drivel. Those franchises already has a fanbase + a massive advertisement campaign. 😂 Nobody went to see Barbie because of its "female empowerment" message... Look at what happened to a movie like The Marvels or a show like The Acolyte.
"Nobody went to see Barbie because of its "female empowerment" message" is stupid literally a ton of people did there were whole tiktoks trends about celebrating women with the barbie movie. also tons of non-woke disney products also flop so who cares if the acolyte or the marvels flopped, so did secret invasion and morbius
It's a combination of those things
This is so sad and disappointing, as a trans woman I would’ve loved to see that episode. But now Disney is just too sensitive to do anything like that anymore, all because of this stupid word“WOKE” ruining everything. That word literally doesn’t mean anything to me, it literally used for everything just for hate or silly beliefs 😒😭😭💀
There are hundreds of episodes and films for trans people. The show would have been targeted towards kids, kids don't need to be exposed to that.
The word woke to me is another word for awaken

Rather than insult debate ...parents are not teaching kids it's wrong they are now waking up and actually asking questions rather than just blindly accept my personal opinion is trans kids isn't a thing they are confused teenagers who are being manipulated by adults to serve their agenda most people don't care about who people are but they do care about kids being abused and manipulated I'm sorry if u disagree but they are just trying to get kids young so next generation will think it normal I've always felt u shouldn't augment your body because u should just deal with what u were given and if don't like tough

That employee saying that his cartoon would "save lives" is such a weak a manipulative argument. He's basically saying if he doesn't get his way "very bad things will happen" 🙄
How’s that being manipulative they employe is just saying how the episode is basically saying “hey we know there’s other trans people out there but we wanna let you know that we stand for you”
