I expected something like this from the Kickstarter, turns out you didnt need millions of dollars to make a game that manages to capture one of the core elements of Homestuck.

@@samuel-rw3xt is it actually stated that being an ectoclone is a requirement of a successfull session? It only stands to reason that if the genesis frogs reproductive system is anything like an actual animals, it would evolve to have as many opportunities to reproduce as possible, meaning as long as a session consists of the most basic requirements(a space player and at least two players, potentially a knight and time player but not explicitly necessary) theres a chance for it to succeed, but at this point im just rambling on semantics

recent patch got a lot of the broken shit fixed. the steam port ended up breaking a lot but the biggest game-breaking bugs have been ironed out by 0.5.0-7. biggest remaining bug is issues with the lich queen boss fight
It's a bit of a programming nightmare make a game like this, ESPECIALLY since it's isometric. The programming behind the whole client to server player chain, and keeping the online game world they play in consistent across their machines with even just 2 players is a difficult thing to pull off. Back during Homestuck's heyday the engines most people would've had access to would've been flash or Unity, both of which would've compounded how hard it would be to program for anyone who wasn't literally just a good programmer. By the time resources became more available to make something like this, Homestuck had already past peak popularity.

Played the game, it's fire. There are problems here and there, but as development progresses they'll probably be fixed. I'm looking forward to the full release
Looking forward to when you can go back in time to save your teammates from dooming the session! Also looking forward to when you can have a session with more than 1 player without someone's game bugging and making them unable to start or enter... I guess that's what early access is for, eh?
OH MY GOD programming time travel will be an absolute nightmare if they try it, it could basically duplicate and double the size of everyones save files at a moments notice. Time loops are completely out of the question.
@@Cri_Jackal On paper time loops aren't THAT complicated once you remember the players basically have no agency in creating them. They're functionally just events Sburb has predetermined will happen, that the players are then required to make sure happen. You wouldn't be going back in time to change anything, you'd be going back in time to make sure everything you previously saw happens exactly as you previously saw it.
@@Sweld549 and just have there be a luck attribute in the game that governs critical hit rates for enemies and the chance for unscrupulous random events to happen that'll likely kill you. Then, if a player fails to carry out a predetermined time loop, give a fat -500 to that value. If you're in a permadeath mode, this is basically game over, but regardless, you'd still be able to fix this by using time travel to correct the timeline. This would also roll into time players being able to duplicate themselves, they'd be able to choose which copy to control, the others functioning as AI, but the game will be programmed to kill these alt timeline selves until there's only 1 of you left via the luck value, unless you pull a Davesprite and differentiate them enough to count as separate people.
I have a recurring dream where I try to make a mod to this game to add realistic weather patterns, but in doing so pull from weather databases, accidentally creating actual sburb
