I buy a big pack of disposable foam plates from the dollar tree and put one between each plate as I pack them Thrift store towels (washed first) for wrapping around casserole dishes and vases to keep them safe, then when I unpack, I can use the towels to clean the new place and then toss them. Hope these tips help
LYNETTE I HAVE MOVED A LOT IN MY LIFE, THE PLASTIC CONTAINERS ARE THE WAY TO GO IN CASE OF RAIN AND BREAKAGE PROTECTION. I USED BEDDING TO PACK WITH AS WELL BLANKETS, THROWS, SHEETS, AND PILLOW CASES JUST A THOUGHT... I THINK YOUR DOING GREAT AND NICK WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU IN THE VLOG YOU BOTH MAKE A BEAUTIFUL TEAM😊😊😊
I have moved MANY times. The best move (most organized) was my more recent. I found an Organized HOme website and it recommended making SHEETS of labels for each room, putting a label on EACH SIDE of every box, and then labeling each room with the same label. The amount of time and energy saved by not having to twist and turn boxes around is amazing! I had my best friend meet the moving van (i couldn't get there before the van) and both she and the movers said it was the fastest unload they ever did! ALSO, like I see you are doing, use EVERY bit of soft furnishings to use as packing: sheets, blankets, towels, dish towels... EVERY bit should be used for packaging before you buy anything. You have to move that stuff anyway, so it may as well be working for you! For your large pictures, etc... wrap in blankets and then pack between matresses on the truck (you will always pack them up on their side, also good for artwork). Also, if you can't lift a box, it should not be stacked. Heaviest always on the bottom, but remember that glass and fragile items are heavy and they should NOT be on the bottom!. Ditto dishes. Pack lightweight plastics or food items with your dishes so those boxes are not too heavy. Good Luck!!!!!!!!! OH, and TAKE your sewing machines in your CAR!!!!!
You are doing a great job! I used anything linen to pack breakables. Dishcloths, teatowels, facewashers, pillowcases, sheets, towels you name it! Junk mail, newspapers etc from friends & family helps too. You got this!
Packing the apartment today, so I thought to myself "I wonder if Lynette Yoder made any videos when she packed to move to FL?" Just to let you know, 1.5 years later these videos about packing/moving are still awesome and giving this girl some inspiration!
We won’t be moving for about another year, but there’s something satisfying to me watching a room slowly become clean and empty. Also, you’re giving me motivation to clean and organize my work office 🤗
Your doing a good job. We moved when my boys were around that age and it overwhelmed them and they acted out. But it will calm down. I'm sure you have already done this but ask God how to help each child how to feel safe and relaxed in this season. Your a great mom and we serve a great God.
Watching you pack up your home is bittersweet, as I'm sure it is for you. Your family has so many memories in this house. Looking forward to watching you make your new house into a home!💖
Poor mama! I literally cheered, "Yay, Nic's home!" at 6:30 when he appeared. My husband thinks I'm nuts, lol. But through it all, you made good progress! I am happy/sad to see the house come down, but so excited to see what's next.
My heart goes out to you, know how hard it is to pack and move and unpack again. But when you are all unpack and done, it will be forgotten and you'll start making your house a home, your special touches and your memories will begin, maybe even just by hanging a frame on the wall. I for one am looking forward to see your lovely home all fixed up with your special touches. So happy for your new home and your new adventures in Florida. The best to you and your Family.
As a pastor's wife who knows other pastor's wives; I've moved multiple times and know others who have as well and I personally don't trust professional packers. I like to do it myself (like you). I enjoy watching you guys, you and your husband are hard workers! Keep it up! 💪
I used my sweaters.and linens and towels to put between pictures and wrap breakables. I never had to buy bubble wrap because of all the clothes, linens and towels. Be blessed.
Plastic grocery sacks are great for wrapping breakables and stuffing into all the empty spaces in boxes. Just a tip. We have moved 3 times and never had a single item broken.
Here’s a couple of tips I’ve used when moving- Box labels go on top so movers don’t have to search all 4 sides when carrying in boxes. Once you pack a box, leave it in its room. Don’t “handle” the box twice (moving it downstairs and then onto a truck). You can buy a huge roll of packing paper for breakables much cheaper than paying a $1 or 2 for bathtub liners. Use the paper to wrap seasonal items because if you wrap seldom-used breakables with everyday towels, etc. you’ll end up search every single box for a particular sheet or towel. You are doing such a great job! So organized!! I love it! You really have inspired me to improve my decor. I’m even going to be doing some painting and flooring in January. Thanks Lynette! ❤️
👍🏽 thanks for the tips. My single bubble os working out pretty well - so I’m happy about that.. I don’t think I’ll need to buy anything else at least. Besides some more boxes 😄
I’ve really been enjoying your moving journey videos. So thank you for sharing and keep it up. I can’t wait to see it all unfold. We’re a military family (also with 3 kids) whose moved a lot in the past 20 years... and this last move (about 6 months ago) was our last. I actually was so excited to move each time, though I know that sounds crazy.... this last move was big. We sold and bought a house also. Moved across country (for the 4th time) and into a big brand new house. Now 6 months later we’re all settled in and I actually look back to the moving process and miss it. It definitely did NOT go perfectly, and it was stressful and even scary at times but honestly seeing how God took care of it all gives me goosebumps. If I could say anything, I’d say to “be I the moment”... because it doesn’t last forever and you’ll want to remember even the tough times as well as the exciting times. God Bless!!
Don't buy extra padding! It has to be disposed of at the other end, and you have a very limited space to fill! We always used clothes, towels, bedding, anything soft to cushion stuff.
We moved today from Knoxville! I totally understand the stress of everything. We packed our 2 bedroom apartment into a van. We move again on January 2nd. Were excited to see the new house decorated!!
We moved last year from my home state of Vermont to North Carolina and we did all of our own packing and moving. I used what I had, towels, blankets etc. to place between items and not a single thing got broken during our move. Actually, a few kitchen items like jars of baking soda and molasses got broken inside the crate they were in, so I would recommend just giving those items away, I was trying to be frugal. 😉 Best wishes! I know it's not easy.
Thank you for this video! We just made the decision to move back to Florida. We're in North Idaho right now, but are from North Florida. We're moving to the Pensacola area. We have 5 months, so I'm not going to rush, but I'll begin decluttering to make packing easier. There's 6 of us moving. We'll pack and move everything ourselves, renting a truck and everything. But, watching this gave me some ideas for packing.
I’m Karen and I love your videos ,as always . Your children are precious ! The “trashy room “ description your son was saying was cracking me up ! Praying safe and peaceful relocation for you and your family ❤️.
You're doing a great job packing ...I love how organized you are! Your little guys are acting like my daughters did when we moved when they were little. My Oldest one told me "nothings the same", my response to her was, "I know but I think we're going to love our new home. Just think, we'll have a new place and you'll have a new room". I don't know if it helped but she 'packed' a box of her own for the move and taped it all shut by herself. (I found out later that there were lots of rocks, various bird feathers and a dead mouse (hard as a rock) that one of her cousins gave to her.) LOL
We move just about every year and I know how hard it is! You are doing all the right things so I hope that makes you feel encouraged. 💟 We are in our new home a week now and I am pretty much all unpacked and I am just in organizing mode, I've actually even purged some more things. Haha! Soon before you know it you'll be in your new home enjoying all of your hard work and efforts! God bless you and your family!
moving is extremely exhausting!!! we just did it twice in one year!! my heart goes out to you!! you are moving across country!! also your boys are so sweet!!
You're doing a great job. To get extra boxes sometimes if you go to your local grocery store and ask for boxes they are happy to give them away. Use newspaper to wrap glass and breakable items.
Yes- I did get a few there.. I’m trying to not have too many different size boxes - in order to keep the stacking easier. But I already have quite a few 😏
Our very large pictures and mirrors just got wrapped in blankets and stood up on the sides of the trailor, the boxes held them upright. Nothing got broken. You are doing great, you have plenty of time.
Moving is the worst! Even if you purge you never really know how much you have until you have to pack it up! We did the opposite of what you’re doing we moved from Florida to Illinois. Newspaper is a good packing tool as well. I hope the move goes smoothly for your family 💕
May God bless you. We have moved several times with young children n there is plenty of challenges. My doctor told me that moving ranks right up there with loosing a loved one according to studies!!
I always love how when we, as Moms, are trying our hardest to do all we need to do and the kids are just at a loss and then Daddy comes home😊. It shows the beauty of God's design for the family. I am super excited for you and your family getting to go to sunny Florida; (I live in Michigan- and it's yucky here!)HOWEVER, I don't like packing.
I have moved much more then I would have liked and have only had one or two things break. Just use whatever you have to wrap the glass in and it should be fine. By now you are probably all finished and ready to go to your parents house. Praying for all of you through the transitions. It is exciting as well as trying sometimes with kids. My boys did well through most of our moves. Just try to keep it as fun as possible. Looks like you are doing a great job. ❤️Blessings.
As far as letting your boys watch more TV than they normally would, sometimes a Mama has do whatever it takes to get stuff done. Our son rarely watches more than an hour or so of shows, except for when we’re finishing a renovation project.
Moving and changes don’t bring out the best in kids. Kids like routine and the unknown is scary. You have such grace for the boys. It’s going to be a great new life.
😉 I actually lack very much in being patient. I just don’t think it’s necessary for me to show the whiny- and me getting impatient with them on camera. 😏. I’m human. 😆
Good Morning, thank you for sharing some tips on packing for moving. I will be moving after the new year and it’s always good to have different suggestions on how moving experience less stressful. I will keep you and your family in my prayers during your moving process 🙏🏽
So many great ideas! I especially love the mailers and the bath mats, to use as cushioning. Hope your move goes well!! Excited to see your upcoming videos about Florida!
You are doing an awesome job, and little man will figure it out as he processes it(such a sweetie) it's hard no matter what the age Kr how exciting it is. ♥ I love your organization even in the thick of it! And Nicks Dab.. Heeheee😂😂😂 prayers for your sanity and blessings to all! ♥
Looking forward to watching you settle and unpack in to Florida New beginnings in England they say new house new baby 😊😊 You've done a good job at the packing 🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️
Woo hoo! It will be here in just a few days! I’m in Sarasota now as u know seeing family and it’s 49 this morning. Fine for me but the locals are complaining. Lol. We ate lunch at Yoder’s and if u have not gone there definitely do when u get here. Great pies!
my mother in law taught me about labeling things . I label all my Christmas things in proper boxes. When I moved I never labeled anything what a mess in trying to find things. You got a lot accomplished in 2 days good for you Have a Blessed day ( Judy )
So much work! I just unpacked after having my stuff in storage for 21 months. I wish your family all the best. Take your time! I cannot wait to see you unpack in Florida. 😊
Blessings as you continue to pack and move. We just moved last week!! We still have lots of boxes to unpack... and many renovations to do to the house, but are working on it now that we are moved because we only had a week between closing dates.
Lynette be patient with the boys it’s really hard for them to understand. My boys had a hard time this last fall with our move and we had movers come and pack so it was only a 4 day process.
Be very careful with those food boxes. Roach eggs can live in the glue that holds them together. It is cold so it wont be a problem now. Just a heads up.
What about using storage bags you use a vacuum to get the air out for the baby clothes and blankets in the totes. You could put the same sizes in the same storage bags. They would also be protected from moisture, etc. in the storage bags with all the air out. Another piece of of moving advice is to go around the house and recheck all cabinets, closets, etc. again after you think you think you have packed everything.
@@LynetteYoder I just thinking with the bags after taking the air out you could fit more things into one tote, as those bags really flatten down the items, taking up less space.
We just moved halfway across the country two weeks ago with 4 kids 5 and under including a newborn and we moved ourselves. Moving is harder on the kids because they don’t quite understand what’s going on, but it will be like Christmas morning when they get there and rediscover all their toys. Praying your move goes smoothly! Merry Christmas to your family!
Thankyou for showing that although moving is stressful for everyone it doesnt have to be delt with in a mad panic. We may have to to move soon if we get a work offer and will only have about 4 weeks notice, so its going to be a rush but you inspire me to keep a calm mind in getting it done.
Yes!!! I’m honestly surprised at how good it’s been going. Declutter declutter declutter! After that it wasn’t bad at all! I am thankful for all that I did before this point! It’s not that bad! Just pace yourself if at all possible. 💕
@@LynetteYoder its the declutter im going to struggle with I think, if we get sent it might be to a remote area into a house we probably wont see before we arrive and things will be harder to come by with less stores so that makes me want to hold on to everything "just in case" haha but I will try my best to reduce by as much as possible in the next couple of weeks just in case ☺
You are probably totally finished by now, but we buy the huge box of bubble wrap. The roll is perforated into great sized sheets, so easy, easy, easy... and cheap. One box will wrap a whole house with some left over. Enjoy ur new home!
Hope & pray for an easy transition with the moving and all! May God bless you & family! To greater things ahead! Happy holidays! Sending much love from P.R.! 😘🎄🙏🏼
great to use what you have but the packing paper for moving is not expensive and saves breakage and headaches. You got a lot done! excited to see the new house with maybe the new floors installed :)
It's hard to make a drastic change. Poor baby, he has to adjust but in the meantime it is hard for him to see what an improvement in his life awaits him and the family. Also, he's too young to understand and appreciate his parents' sacrifice. You will all get through this, by God's Word.
The messiest part of packing is the very end... when you are still using things and the truck needs to be filled... LOL... I moved two years ago and still have a couple of boxes I never went through... will be donating of tossing that stuff come spring :) ...
I’ve moved cross country or in the same state lots of times. Twice we had movers. I crammed my boxes and nothing ever broke. The movers did break a couple of things. You’ll see it isn’t as bad as you think.
I'm guessing at this point you're done packing however, if you're still trying to pack the larger frames check out U- haul. They have TV boxes that you could pack several prints/ frames in. Best of luck to youth on your move!
We are great! I’ll have a cleaning video- giveaway up tomorrow and a moving one later in the week hopefully. It’s just been chaotic so I took a little break. ☺️

I'm so glad you called Adaline and encouraged her! You made her feel so much better! ♥️
Tammy Austin actually she called me..😄 but I try to do what I can - from far away 😢
Cheap paper plates work good to put between dishes.
Yes I’ve heard of that- I should see if I can use round paper plates between my square ones .. that was my issue.. they’re square 😏
When I pack dishes, I use paper plates between them. Small size for saucers and bread and butter plates. In platters.
You are doing a great job! I used anything linen to pack breakables. Dishcloths, teatowels, facewashers, pillowcases, sheets, towels you name it! Junk mail, newspapers etc from friends & family helps too. You got this!

Foam plates work great between glass plates. Moved 1700 miles recently. Nothing broken miraceously.
"This place doesn't look cool anymore"....😂 Aw...sounds like you have a sentimental little guy there. Blessings in your adjustments! Loved the song.
😅 sometimes I think he is. And then other times not.. 😆

When my family moved out of state we always used blankets to wrap our large pictures and mirrors, then we'd use packing tape to secure the blankets
Thanks for sharing! The kiddos are so funny! You will be staying in your Mom’s beautiful basement!

That’s how we do it. Also, we get free used boxes.
We moved today from Knoxville! I totally understand the stress of everything. We packed our 2 bedroom apartment into a van. We move again on January 2nd. Were excited to see the new house decorated!!
Oh wow!! That sounds like a lot of work too!
Moving is such a big job!

We have used different colored duct tape in the past for each room. It is a very quick and easy way to see which box goes to which room.

The large storage bags from DT work great! We also use those for our move (May 2018).

I do have some of the stuff in bags in those boxes. And I have a few vacuum bags but they look so small! 😯
@@LynetteYoder I just thinking with the bags after taking the air out you could fit more things into one tote, as those bags really flatten down the items, taking up less space.
Yes.. that’s probably true. 👍🏽
☺️ yes I agree. It probably will be like that 😄
Yay, moving forward!!! Great video. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas
Exciting times for you and family! Thank you for sharing your move! 😀
👍🏽 not quite done but so far my big roll of single bubble is working out ☺️👍🏽
You are doing a great job! It looks so trashy! 😂😂😂Boys are so fun! 💙💙
So busy but you are making progress. Hope it will go by fast for you😊
Sending love from a mom of five. Moving can be so stressful for everyone.
Hi. I'm starting to condense down also for our move to Sarasota county. Getting excited. We can always visit up north. Ms. Bull
Yay!! Fun!
You're awesome Lynn! 👑❤️
It looks so trashy!! 😁 adoreable boys!!
pictures are a ain to fit into boxes. Using towels and things to cushion works great! I like the plastic container for hauling things.
Yes! I’d buy more totes if they weren’t quite as pricey and I knew I’d need them for sure down there. But I don’t want a lot of extra either. 😏
Also, I liked your music in the video! Very pleasant!
Good luck with everything thanks for sharing
I HAAAAATE packing n moving..and it's in our near future..thank you for the label ideas..they would be VERY helpful 😁
Ooh yes! I’ve loved them so far
It's hard to make a drastic change. Poor baby, he has to adjust but in the meantime it is hard for him to see what an improvement in his life awaits him and the family. Also, he's too young to understand and appreciate his parents' sacrifice. You will all get through this, by God's Word.
Thank you for sharing this helpful moving hints video!
Hi Lynette as always love your videos and family. God's blessings to you and your fanily
Did nick just dab?! 6:36
My niece is still obsessed with that!
Is that what you call it? 😂 I don’t even know..
I absoutely hate moving. I find it so overwhelming. You seem to have so much patience. Take care.
😅 not a lot of patience most days. I can always use prayer
Ill definitely pray for u sweetie.
The messiest part of packing is the very end... when you are still using things and the truck needs to be filled... LOL... I moved two years ago and still have a couple of boxes I never went through... will be donating of tossing that stuff come spring :) ...
Right! I don’t know how my last day will go yet, when I have to have every little thing packed! 😏
@@LynetteYoder I've always ended up with a LOT of last minute boxes ha ha hand at the other end though as it's always the stuff I'll need first :-D
Thanks for sharing!
Can you use blankets to wrap the big picture frames individually? And use rope around the blanket to keep it tight around the frame?
Yes.. I’ll probably have to do something similar. ☺️
Merry Chritmas🙏🎄😘
Doing a great job!
Love your content, all of it
Oh gawd I hate moving , arghh I feel for ya
Hey hun, how are you and your family doing? I've been thinking about you in Florida!
We are great! I’ll have a cleaning video- giveaway up tomorrow and a moving one later in the week hopefully. It’s just been chaotic so I took a little break. ☺️
New house, new baby!! Lol
Amazing how many doodads we all have. Love the vid
Ahaha, where did your son learn the word trashy? He was really relishing using it-so funny!!!
🙈 not sure. They seem to pick things up pretty quickly.
@@LynetteYoder It's so hilarious!
