It seems like the Olight O Pen is the better option. it has more light options, with increased battery life, but it severely lacks without the ability to change batteries on the go. The Refyne P1 however, has in my opinion a better light, but the ability to separate the Refyne P1 into a light piece and a pen piece doesn't seem that useful and seems like it would wear down quickly. Also the twist action to turn on the Refyne P1 seems more of a hassle than the button push on the Olight o Pen. In terms of size I'd rather have a narrower pen than a thicker pen and the length doesn't matter to me too much. Finally, the Olight O Pen 2 has a textured grip while the Refyne P1 has a smooth grip, personally I prefer the textured but that is probably the last thing to consider when buying a pen light system.
Completly omitted the most useful feature of the olight. It’s emitter is at a right angle to the clip which means you can clip it to your shirt and use as a body mounted light.
i do this in fact with the newer open pro. the led is on the actual clip and i use it in a pocket protector at work! check it out if you havent. i carry around the open 2 copper for almost 2 years now. the refyne not so much but looking to change that.
as far i can tell olight is manufactured in china and so is the refyne p1. the refyne p1 was a kickstarter back in 2017 and was crowd funded. Its a smaller company listed in california. Olight is substantially bigger with operations in ga and in nj and a manufacturing plant in china.
@@TheFossilChannel Thanks kindly for the reply. Would sure be nice to find a built in North America version -- even if it cost more. Times are a changing. Great video. Excellent comparison review
Honestly I can't see the point of either of these light pens because neither direct the light down where the ballpoint tip touches the paper - exactly where one would want the light to shine! On amazon are very cheap LED ballpoint pens, some sold as a pair or 4x that have a collar surrounding the ballpoint itself, cleverly pooling light bang on the paper where one writes. It's such a clever concept and the main attraction is the price, unlike either of these illustrated here, the cheaper LED pens are about 1-5th the retail price. Nice video, but rather pointless I'm sorry to say.
both penlights detach and you can shine it on the paper. one can clip to molle and act as a hands free light. Different tools for different purposes. I dont like the pricing on the olight and the refyne p1 i got has poor contact issues and needs to be redesigned mechanically better for the switch. that being said some of those cheaper pen lights function better as a writing assistant light for the pen, however not much for anything else. lumen output, mode selection and ui also factor into this. I use several different penlights for different purposes now. i even have one of those cheaper ones that uses button cells and find its useful too.
im not sure where you can find blue refills without getting a 3d printed adapter for the fisher space pen refills. Check asprintsmith on etsy for the 3d printed adapters he sells. For reference on the ink refills i think fisher makes a blue ink of this one. I havent tested it and will make a video later today on this refill Fisher Space Pen #SU4F .
I don’t know if you’ll see this but you should review the Wuben Gecko E61 vs the Olight and the REFYN
would like to but have no more.money atm
did Olight go to a proprietary ink cartridge refill?
schmidt p8126 mini. but theres another cartridge that fits it. i will look it up later
schmidt 4876m also works and it a pressurized rollerball tip too.
thank you

And if you don't like the material, there is a O Pen version completely made of solid copper. And it looks amazing!

Are either of them Made in Canada or the USA?

@@VA7BC i agree. times are changing. stay vigilant and prepared.
Made in China? Those jobs need to be in the U.S. for Americans. Not overseas.
@@idicijdici269 Exactly why I just ordered the Refyne! Lot of people need jobs, every little bit helps.
