Loved this show It could have gone on for years. All actors were great in their parts. Especially PETA and ROY.
One of the best shows ever. Even with the budget that was much lower than many shows today, the creators and actors did an amazing job. Love the show.
The best show ever even better than the original movie itself, the cast, the crew, the music was PERFECTION! I still watch today , I can never get tired, there is much thought process and passion in making it! Thank you to all of them!
THE. BEST. SERIES. EVER. I have all the dvds, but seeing this makes me emotional. That show was amazing in it's day, it's timeless and STILL amazing, and part of an era that we will never see again, with a cast and crew that was remarkable. Truly miss it, so very much.

Have you tried watching the whole thing? The first 6 or 7 episodes are pretty bleh, but from there, it gets amazing. A really worthy remake (Shane West aside).

People really don’t get how fucking good this show was. I’m rewatching now. It’s peak mid/late 90s. The Euro sexiness of it is off the charts. I was in love with all of them!!
Truly the best television there has ever been. BBC's Poldark is a second, IMO.
This will always be in my TOP 5 TV series of ALL TIME. This show is so highly underrated and that makes me mad.
It seems it will always be a "cult" show, which isn't exactly a bad thing.

This show has no peer. The music throughout the series was the best it could be. I have all the seasons in their original DVD release and Treasure them. This was such a cool time when originally released...
I have them too, so glad I bought them many years ago. This show indeed had no equals, to this day either, IMO.
LFN was meant to be. I did wish for a reunion of Michael and Nikita around 2005, but I'm so happy to have 5 season to go back to, enjoying the amazing talented cast and crew , oh the music, my goodness, Sean Callary was a real magician, beautiful soundtracks to gave justice to the beautiful Peta and handsome Roy! If only Roy had accepted the offer they made him after they wrapped up LFN, to be part of their next show called 24, I wonder who they would have made him play, uhmmm...

This was one of the best TV shows back then. I just finished watching all the episodes again. The sound track is amazing also! Loved the music!
This show was really a head of it's time, specially when it came to fashion and technology. Tech like this mostly existed in small enthusiast groups and I had friends who were into stuff like Linux and all that but seeing it on television was really just a head of it's time. All the cast were perfect for their roles. Few tv shows ever exist to have such a soul and where people give it their all to the project. That feeling is mostly lost today and it's super rare.

@@Conufan that's interesting to know. I actually bought them for my mom as a christmas gift 5 or 6 years ago because she loved it when it was on tv. I started watching it with her and it became one of my favorite shows. Just started watching it again this weekend...on episode 8 now.

I watched the series through all 5 seasons and loved it! I ran into all 4 seasons at Sam’s Club 8 years ago, purchased all of them. I watched all seasons again at that time. Roku has all 5 seasons available to watch right now. I just finished watching all the seasons again! This show is timeless! Wardrobe, technology, the settings for the episodes are on point as if it was a new series, just filmed! It is my fave of all TV drama!! I’m so happy I have all seasons on DVD! Great acting and storyline!!
I wholeheartedly agree with you. I just accidentally found it again on Roku and the technology, wardrobe and the attitude does not make the show look dated at all

I used to watch it as a kid, too, back in the days when my English wasn't too good and I never noticed Michael's accent. But now hearing him talk ... He definitely has an interesting accent

There is a remake with Maggie Q. I also liked that version but so far no one can top this TV version, especially with the kind of budget given to this TV series.

Nope, they captured "lightning in a bottle" with the cast on this one. Can't be done twice. They *tried* with "Nikita" and it was a VERY pale comparison. 23 years since it's ended and there's still not been another show as good.
the fact that this show only lasted 4.5 seasons and people aren't talking about it to this day is atrocious
I'm doing my part! LOL. I passed it on to the next generation, introducing my niece to it now that she's old enough. We're on our second watch-through together and every time she's over here, SHE is usually the one who requests it, sometimes the second she walks in the door saying "Michael?" (Can you tell who her favorite character is? LOL!)

Yep, I've always said "LFN was never about happy endings. It's no Cnderella story." While I would have loved to see a reunion later, I have the unpopular opinion in that I loved the ending, because they stayed true to the show. If they'd given it a happy ending it would have felt like a cop out. Instead they gave us hope for the future without selling out. Made it feel real.
I loved this show. Never saw every episode of it. But most of it. It was one of the shows after MacGyver/Airwolf etc. somwhere in the 90's that I watched with my dad...

I loved this show when it was prime time AND I still love it!
Rewatching now on Tubi. I remember learning so much about the Byzantine nature of a workplace itself. Also, the scary nature of control reminded me of when I was in my father's awful custody in my teens. Others tell me they can relate by having been in foster homes, prison, or prep academies, or wherever there is clearly a target on your back. Some have cited their fathers are like Operations or mothers are like Madeline or how they themselves were like either Jurgen or Michael.

OMG!! I truly cannot thank you enough for mentioning Tubi! Nikita has such a special place in my heart. I love this series so much! Memories of watching it all with my mom when it was first broadcast are really precious to me. Remembering how much fun we had watching Nikita together and how much we both looked forward to seeing it each week...it feels just like yesterday. Of course, I immediately went to Tubi and found all 5 seasons! My heart is so happy! I wish my mom was here to watch it again with me. Thanks again!

One of the greats. Strong performances by all characters and a unique atmosphere of the 90's. Only negative is the storyline after Jones is introduced. Should have had a better ending, but that is too much to expect from 90's shows that often didn't know what to do with their endings.
I actually really appreciate that the ending was open-ended. Left a lot to the imagination, which is always better than cookie-cutter endings.
@@mistersurrealist I agree! What else: Michael and Nikita got married and lived happily ever after? One of the things I liked about this show was that the general story-line was not predictable. I didn't expect Michael to be married with a child. They always managed to surprise me. 😀
To me it actually makes sense. To finally see why and who brought Nikita to section. Also, they couldn't just brought her in from the streets and tell her 'listen, this is your father and now you have to be the Operations.' She had to go through the whole process and at the end they were certain she would be able to run the section.
I hate how it when the show was “CANCELED”. (No pun) I was able to go to Toronto in 2000. I still have the afghan that George auctioned and Madeleine’s skirt suit filmed in 2nd season actioned. Both of them have been preserved.

Just finished the series, having started it for the first time a few months ago. Fantastic show. Was there an episode that never aired? I've seen something about an episode 9 for season 5 entitled "Opportunity Knocks".
Nope, false rumor...one way you can tell is that there weren't enough words in the title. It would have had a 5-word title. All the seasons were that way....season 1 all were one word: Love, Nikita, War, Treason, Season 2: Not Was, Psychic Pilgrim, New Regime, First Mission, Season 3: I Remember Paris, Third Party Ripoff, etc.

Una serie bellissima realizzata con un budget ridicolo, eppure fatta veramente bene. Una sceneggiatura bellissima e senza eguali ,piena di colpi di scena , misteri e intrighi. Musiche bellissime e attori Stellari. Ha spazzato via il film da cui è ispirata e anche la serie successiva del 2010. Un capolavoro

La mejor serie que he visto. Adoraba a Nikita y me encantaba Operations, las briefs con los hologramas, como se oscurecia la oficina de Ops, toda la tecnoogia que usaban. Y sobre todo la trama. A Michael costaba entenderle cuando hablaba inaudible, era alguien de pocas palabras, sombrío, pero amaba a Nikita. Quisiera volver a verla, sobre todo la temporada 4.

Little known factoid, the episode titles had the same number of words as the series number.
This was the best reworking of the original. There was the horror that should be best forgotten called "Assassin".
He was not the reason I was watching the show, he was low down on my list. Peta, Alberta, Don, and Matthew were the ones I wanted to see more of. Madeline was never a compassionate emotional character if you watched the original film.

@@coneil72 No. That new Nikita was not as good. They reframed the whole section underground esq to where the goverment controls their "division". Not the same feel and not as great of a show. Didn't have a soul like LFN.

And what was so horribly unacceptable in letting the fans have their wish? All they had to do is giving us nice love scenes every second episode, maybe getting them move in together. I don't see any harm in that. They would have had a lifetime long fan in me. As it was the writers came up with the worst story line ever. I remember watching LFN when it first aired and I also remember stopped watching it. I wasn't sure at what point exactly I quit but now that I re-watched the series I'm certain I lost interest in the beginning of season 3 when out of the sudden Michael had a wife and a kid. It was such a BS story plot that made absolutely no sense. Michael appears in every mission in season 1 and 2. Day time or night time. In season 2 he's such a man whore for the section 1 and he also loses his memory for 3 days. It's hard to believe that at the same time Michael was a loving husband and father. Oh well , at least there are lots of fan fiction stories about Michael and Nikita. Take that cruel LFN writers.
Because a plot-line does not go the way you want, that is life.
Having a wife and child somewhere is the perfect cover for a spy/killer/whatever.
I remember feeling sorry for the kid not to have the dad around.
Nikita and Michael coming together in an 'and they lived happily ever after'-scenario would have completely killed all the vibes of the show.
Also in that time-period they finally were turning away from "boy meets girl, boy gets girl"-scenario.
Remember 'moonlighting' ( Cybill Shepherd, Bruce Willis) they also did not end up together, and that was fine. Not sure if 'Darkangel' actually had an ending, the tended to quit airing series halfway here.
I just loved they way they all helped each other grow, challenged and respected one another (and yes the emotional drama/erotic tension really helped to make it more fun to watch).

Again, the lovely husband and father story line was such a BS. It felt like they made it up after smoking something. I mean if you want to ignore what I already listed that made that scenario implausible, fine. But at least think about how many times Michael was going to let small kids die in season 1 and 2. And they would die if it wasn’t for Nikita. I hardly think that’s a father behavior. But it made sense in season 1 and 2 because Michael wasn’t a father in season 1 and 2. If you think about it “Nikita” as an action series was such a crap. The missions were poorly thought out. Usually, Nikita and Michael went into a building full of terrorists armed with machine guns with only one or two handguns…and they survived.
I think by making it a nice romantic first/ action second series would do wonders for the show. As it was “Nikita” started losing audience in season 2.
@@muurrarium9460 As for “Moonlighting” yes! I feel like it was such a slap in the face for the viewers. It was even bigger one for Cybil Shepherd. I saw an interview with Cybil about “Moonlighting”. She said she took that role to improve her image of “a cold b¡tch” everyone believed she was based on her previous roles. I think we can agree it didn’t happen. The writers portrayed her as a snub who doesn’t think David is good enough for her. Cybil was against Maddie marrying Walter because she knew it would ruin the show even more. And I think she was right. That marriage was the beginning of the end.
Again, same as in case of “La famme Nikita”, there are so many Moonlighting fan fiction stories that I don’t really care how the writers decided to completely crap all over their show.
@@monitawit8173 I am in Europe (Netherlands) so we probably never even heard of Cybil Shepherd before this. So for me she was (as Maddy) just this unfortunate person who got robbed and had to figure out a way to make a living. Maddy was really a vulnerable mess, and of course there came "I only look out for myself" Willis. They both really changed for the better.
I think that journey is possible without being someone's love-interest.
Real friendship is so much more than "let's get it on".
Of course it is fun to think how things might have been for them ;), but since our society/culture is far more focussed on cooperation and less on competition, the drive to 'conquer the leading lady' is far less I guess?
And of course: so many episodes that never made it to television here :( they just stopped airing them... I had to search the internet to find out how the series ended :P

Favorite show of all time up until about season 4. After that I think is when they introduced some kid with psychic powers, and then Madeline dies, Operations lost his power, Nikita takes over... It just did not seem right. Then you have her dad being the head of everything, and Nikita under the impression that she was working for the head guy (although I can't remember what he was called). Anyway, it took away from the fact that Nikita was supposed to be picked up off the streets and fighting Operations rules... knowing that the head guy was watching over her the whole time.
Season 5 wasn't meant to happen, as I recall at the time, they got such an overwhelming response from fans to produce a 5th season that they did it. It was for sure a departure from the original direction of the show, which is always risky with television series, but I thought it was really good. Man, I sure do miss it.
The head guy was Mr. Jones and Mick Schtoppel (acted by Carol Rota) pretened as he initially. Though, it turned out the real Mr. Jones aka Philip, codename 'Flavius' (acted by Edward Woodward) was supposingly the real father of Nikita.
Season 4 has a couple of bad episodes, but most of it is excellent, as is Season 5.

The Only Part of Le Femme Nikita I didn't like was that they played Nikita as being Framed. I thought that was a copout then and I still do but the series was very good I have watched it several times.
why not ? people identify with innocents more than with criminals. It made the show better and raised the moral dillema often unlike the French film which you could detest the protagonist as much as anyone else.
I thought the show was great BECAUSE they changed that. Nikita being innocent is far more interesting to watch.
@@buzifalus I agree. Someone who has killed before won't have that much angst killing again after the first time. And the French Nikita was also a drug addict who had no qualms breaking in and robbing a place to get her fix and also kill for the same reason. That is why that film worked as well because she was supposed to be a natural cold assassin but she was just rebellious and wanted her freedom to live her life. The TV series Nikita was a different take on her character so the moral dilemma came out of her refusal to just kill anyone because in the first place she was not a natural killer.
