So the police car is called the coffin by officers. You are trained to get out of the car IMMEDIATELY, you don't sit there and try to fumble with things like keys, because if you are stuck in the car, you WILL die in a fight.
Ultimately, it's better to lose the car than lose the officer.

20:23 so it’s actually a standard practice amongst all emergency responders that when you are active, the vehicle stays on, though the reasoning behind why is different between the different branches, for firefighters (what I do) the trucks at the station are off, but once we take them to a call they don’t get shut off because they power the water pumps, lights, and other such things that we need,
for ambulances, while on duty they generally aren’t at the hospital, but actually driving around the city or waiting in a parking lot somewhere, and when they get a call they rush to the call, then to the hospital with the patient, then do paperwork and go back into service/patrol,
and for cops, it’s once again a matter of expediency, especially for patrolmen, they are once again expected to be patrolling the entire day and even if they are handling a minor dispute such as this case, it’s expected that if a more pressing matter occurs that they can respond to that situation with all due haste.
The time it takes to unlock the vehicle and turn it on and get it ready to go can and has costed seconds and lives, that’s why stealing or tampering with a emergency vehicle is more severe than a civilian vehicle.

    • @xanderquinn6010

And like someone further down said, it actually takes a few minutes on average for everything to actually cycle on on emergency vehicles, even if the vehicle itself is able to move immediately.

@@Sourman1545 you have a point, but you fail to consider the situations where a perimeter lock or even a remote kill switch can be detrimental, what if a perp inside the vehicle gets control and drives away, or what if the officer is taken out of commission or is elsewhere and the vehicle is in the way or some such, they now have to find that officers fob and bring it to the car. And kill switches are dangerous, all it takes is one person figuring out how to access it and it becomes not only useless, but a danger to everyone, that’s why those things aren’t used, because there are too many dangers and too many situations where it’s not only useless, but a hazard.

Whether someone dangerous or deadly drives away from the officer, another officer is in danger, or even something like suddenly needing to create a perimeter around a rescue situation, seconds can and have cost good people their lives many times, so having to wait for the car to start to just *begin* to get near the pressing situation, let alone for all the electronic systems within the vehicle to boot up and start to provide directions and other information, could very easily get a civilian, an officer, or multiple of both, killed.

Policies vary not just by state, but by individual departments.
There's some Federal standards that the whole country has to abide by, but there's a decent amount of flexibility for police departments to self determine how they do things. So investigations into things like this usually heavily involve reviewing the specific policies and training of the involved police department, which is why a lot of officers don't get fired for stuff like this. In a lot of cases the blame is placed on the department as a whole for how the individual officers were instructed to do things.

Most recently (in my town anyways) cop cars now have the push button start. So they keep the key on themselves at all times and if anyone who doesn't have the key tries to drive off the engine will shut down and doors will lock and stay locked until the person with the keys unlocks them. Still has it's own set of issues but it's an improvement

I have no idea about US police vehicles, but most UK police vehicles have a feature called runlock. It allows the driver to remove the key and leave the vehicle without the engine stopping (so lights/radio/etc. are still engine powered and not draining the battery), but if you try and drive it without the key then it will stop. That feature, properly used, would have prevented many of these situations.

Or maybe there’s a device that the police can have on their uniforms that if the police car gets stolen if it goes out of range of this particular device, it’ll cut the engine; or something.

There should be thermite charges on the wheels of the police cars that are activated from dispatch. Basically they are stealing an extra deadly weapon carrying a small arsenal. Also I still don't know why they still use the pit maneuver instead of just installing wheel binding cables on the front that were developed years ago. Causing a car to spin out at high speed by smashing into it shouldn't be the first choice.

Hi Alicia! I've come to give you recommendations for future videos and I hope you at least think them over.
First I have an idea of something you have not done before: music video reactions! There are a few really good music videos with great stories and some that make the song hit MUCH harder, the music video I personally recommend is one by Metallica, I have a feeling that you haven't listened to a lot of metal but I still think that this is by far one of the BEST music videos of all time and I hope to one day see a video of your reaction to metal.
I have not seen very many videos about reactions to slice of life anime, I know you really liked bocci the rock so I want to recommend you an anime that is very similar, I have recommended this before but either you haven't read it or ignored it which I won't get mad if you did. But the anime is called komi can't communicate, it's on Netflix and I know you have Netflix because you watched jojos part 6 on it. The anime is similar to bocci the rock where the main character is a shy cute and precious bean who has trouble speaking to others and I think that you will really enjoy it.
And last but not least, max0r. I think I remember you saying that you have played devil may cry 5 and max0r has a absolutely hilarious 2 part series of dmc 5 and I am VERY confident that you will laugh at it before you have a seizure.
Well, that's all I got for now. Please please PLEASE consider reacting to these I can guarantee you will have a LOT of fun streaming it. Otherwise, keep up the good work and I hope you have a wonderful day!

It's possible that these police departments didn't get quite the funding needed to upgrade their order stuff, back in this timeframe for certain areas.
From my understanding, cop cars do have partitions and have special keys they take out of the ignition, but still keeps the car running, just unable to drive.
But, not all departments get these upgrades at the same time, so it can be a slow process sometimes.

  • @callsigndisciple626

the reasons they keep the car running is they have Essential equipment in police cars that requires energy to operate
Protect the equipment from extreme heat and cold
Keep the vehicle cool in hot weather for K-9 dogs
as well as it makes it easier and quicker to chase a suspect instead of having to turn the car back on. They should be more aware though if they know the car is running and has a loaded firearm inside.
I think It could vary from department depending on police protocol.

If you are really truly wrongfully arrested you can sue the state. If you are guilty it is in your best interest to just let them arrest you instead of just tacking on multiple charges onto your case to get the least amount of time in jail.
Also officer don’t take their keys out in case they need to take off in case of emergency.
Tasers are notoriously unreliable since they can’t pierce baggy clothing such as hoodies.
They don’t just randomly shoot at the tires because officers have to be responsible for every bullet they shoot, so if they fire and miss and that bullet ricochets and hits a civilian they have to atone for that, they also don’t want to shoot because that’s they’re last resort and if they end up killing the suspect, well that’s anoooother media article about how the big bad police shot and killed a suspect.
Also when officer do end up shooting a suspect they fire so many bullets because when a suspect is shot they are so filled with adrenaline that they don’t feel the pain and are still a threat to either the officer or people around them, that’s why officer fire until the suspect drops, then they immediately go preform medical attention on the suspect.

You don't shoot the leg because there are many veins and arteries in the leg that bleed real quick. You don't use a gun non lethally, which is why police mag dump when they do shoot cause they are trying to make sure the threat is down for good. Also tasers can fail, some people have zero reaction to pepper spray, and beating suspects looks bad.

29:30 in such a high adrenaline situation not only is it hard to come up with these ideas fast but you dont get all the info when you haveta push past your own partners to even see whats happening let alone not wanting to risk accidentally popping your friend. beyond that the guns are out incase he had armed himself or had a weapon so he could be dropped if it took any aggressive action with as for tasers, again, on scene and in the moment its hard to think of it as your just trying to even figure out the current situation.

I fully support cops doing their jobs and trying to keep people safe, but these cops EARNED whatever ass-whuppin their chief gave them. What where those cops thinking in the first clip!? Why did they make the stolen car lose control when there where civilians left parking on the road; they could've easily not just killed him, but the truck driver as well! Where was the need for that anyways? Just let him run out of gas by simply chasing while keeping up a safe distance.
US Police seems horrible in deescalating situations.

    • @uhagi6720
      @uhagi6720 2 місяці тому +6

So you would rather they just let him continue speeding and hope he runs out of gas before hitting an unsuspecting civilian? He was going over 130mph and it was clear they couldn't let him keep going. The area they stopped him in had only a few cars parked on the side, things would be a LOT worse if he entered city streets.
Plus, you seem to forget that he has full access to a loaded rifle in the front. If he's willing to drive over 120 to get away, I doubt he'd be willing to give up that easily.

    • @Sachi10007
      @Sachi10007 2 місяці тому +5

Please shut up the cops aren’t to blame so quit trying to blame them and they had to catch him no matter what the guy was going over 130mph if they let him keep going like that then there would’ve been more casualties and what you suggested would present problems as well since there was a rifle in the car and it would’ve been a shootout between him and the cops not to mention your way would’ve took way too long plus the truck driver was gonna be fine he didn’t even get hit by the car anyways or nowhere near being hit by it and you act like the cops could control where the car was gonna swerve into.

@@Sachi10007Agreed, since at the end of the day it the suspect’s own fault for taking those actions.
The cops tried resolve the situation asap, or else an even worse accident that actually took civilian lives could have occurred, which would have killed the suspect regardless given inertia.
