Seriously! This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am playing as Helena and my twin is playing as Hermia! (I believe you are Hermia? ) If so YOU ARE AMAZING! I loved this so much! Such good blocking and it's hilarious too!!!!! Really! Great job!!!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! :) This scene was the last part of callbacks for me, and I'm pretty sure I landed the role when I dove beneath Lysander's legs in a moment of inspiration. We had a fight choreographer work with us during rehearsals, so I was pretty excited when we decided to include that move in the actual show. One of my favorite memories!
You're very welcome! c: What?! Audition?! Whoa! I thought it was a real play...! That just makes it even more awesome! Whoa! That sounds like a bunch of fun to do! Fight choreographer. Just the title itself sounds cool! Plus if you are ever in contact with the other actors and actress, please tell them a random person thinks they are AMAZING! Haha! That is wonderful to have memories of this. Actually we performed this scene yesterday!!! Ahhhh! I completely skipped a part.....But we were told we, "woke up the audience with great acting!" So, I am happy about that!
NyanTimeWithElese Oh no this wasn't the audition, I was just recalling what happened in the audition haha. But good luck with your performance! You should post a clip of it later :)
just realized it would be amazing if demetrius saw lysander first oh that would be amazing. i mean just think about it, demetrius falling for lysander, who falls for helena who falls for demetrius who is engaged to hermia who falls for lysander.
Thanks! This isn't specific to Hermia, but rather, some general acting tips I always go by: 1. Read in depth for character analysis and look for clues in the text regarding age, social class, likes/dislikes, physicality, things other characters say about you, etc, and then go further by talking to the other actors and creating and clarifying relationships, memories, and backstory. 2. For each scene you appear in, know the location, time, where you came from, and especially your OBJECTIVE and your opposition's objective. Why are you onstage and what makes this scene different from the other scenes? 3. Be specific with the ACTIONS you throw at your partner in order to get to your objective. How do you want to make them feel? If you don't know what your intention is, the audience won't know it either. 4. Once you absorb the language and blocking into your body, take risks throughout the rehearsal process. If you fail early and fail often, you'll have found more "right" answers by the time the show opens. risk/fail/risk again; just relax and have fun with it!
Yena Han Thank you so so much for the tips. It works and we have full house. Some of the audience even sat on the floor. If you have time please have a look at our performance 'A Mid Summer Night Dream,Yangon'. Thanks again. Do you mind telling me where you study performing arts? Or a good university with scholarship? Because I think acting isn't just a hobby of mine but rather play important dream in my life and I want to be more profession.
+Jennet Fanai Sorry I haven't been on in forever! I'm a Theatre and English major at Rice University, but our theatre department is pretty small, and I plan on going to grad school for acting. I've also done summer intensives at Yale and RADA, and both programs were fantastic. I'd suggest doing a conservatory program for a month or two over the summer!
I was so confused why everyone was talking so fast and throwing away their lines until I realized... I had upped the play speed to 1.25 for another video.
