  • Robert Pickton /// Part 1 /// 768
    Part 1 of 2

This week we tell the tale of Robert Pickton, Canada’s most infamous serial killer. Robert Pickton was a pig farmer turned serial killer who hit it big with the sale of a large portion of the family farm. Instead of using his riches for good, he hosted drug and alcohol fueled parties on his disgusting farm at a place called “The Piggie Palace.” Around this same time women started to disappear from a seedy area of Vancouver, known as “The Low Track.” It took the police longer than it should have to learn that they had a problem, a big one. Some mysteries remain with this case. No one is certain how many people Pickton killed. It also would seem like he must have had some help along the way. Who else is responsible?

So sad 😞 So many women, daughters, aunties, friends, granddaughters, lost.
Struggling to find a peaceful place to hide their shame 😔 if only for a fleeting moment.
    R.I.P. young spirits 🙏

@Cecil-hotel Yes years ago. Robert Picton did time and coming up for parole. However, one of the inmates got him in jail (probably a relative of one of the murdered women). Picton was in hospital for a few weeks in a coma and died there a few weeks ago.
There's a lot of media coverage on him from when he was caught. Gruesome story. Happened very near to where I live. In my line of work at the time, I happened to meet a few women who survived his nightmare and escaped the farm. Pretty sick, warning before you do deep dive. 🇨🇦

Many missing. I think snuff movies are real and people pay to watch.

Does anyone else think Pickton is unbelievably creepy looking? Gah- the stuff of nightmares.
    Those poor, poor women.

Canada is SO weak on penalties for serious crimes. I tell people who say "I'm going to move to Canada" who think it's better than the USA, "No, you don't really want to, listen to reality" and I tell them how passive the people and the governing bodies are in the individual provinces and how slack and slow-moving law enforcement is. And how underfunded everything is, due to low population over such vast areas of land and the high poverty of many citizens there, and how very expensive the whole country and its cities are to live in. I have nothing against the people of Canada, they never did anything to me, but it's nowhere I'd ever want to live. It's like being trapped forever in an enormous state of Maine with just hunting and no money.
I feel bad for the families who lost these women and then know that their government undervalues these women so much as to not prosecute on ALL the deaths this serial killer caused---and has the colossal nerve to say it's to spare the grieving families. Really. When Canada clearly just didn't want to spend the money and needed the crimes to just go away. Such dreadful disrespect to the families. So another crime was committed there in not prosecuting, but the families can't exactly sue their government for it.
My respect for the RCMP has dropped to a new low, but I realize you can't be a big-time crime fighter if your employer won't give you the billable hours, eh...so it's not all the officers who are incompetent. The indifference comes from the top down.
