The Amdanga Karunamoyee Kali Mandir, located in Amdanga, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, is one of the region's ancient and revered temples. The temple, which is 500 years old, was established during the era of Raja Krishnachandra in the 17th century. The temple's foundation is deeply intertwined with local history and legends. It is said that Man Singh, a general under Mughal Emperor Akbar, played a crucial role in its establishment. The idol was made from a black touchstone, inspired by a divine vision.
The temple, also known as Amdanga Kalibari, attracts numerous devotees, especially during the Kali Puja festival. Despite its historical significance, the temple remains an active place of worship, and several traditional ceremonies are performed here throughout the year.
