    Pleasure to see a person who use a proper hook to hold large bodied Bitis. It could be so harmful for snake ribs that rounded hooks could be banished for snakes with large bodies and important weight. It seems that Danny have a great knowledge about the animals he have.

    • @oldmonk_
      @oldmonk_ 4 роки тому

      I think are snakes are way stronger and badass then people think. They can easily go through a handling with rounded hooks for a short period of time and not even be bother about it.
      My conclusions are based on handling few snakes and I know how strong they are. Even a small snake can be exceptionally strong and they can display that strength whenever they wish to.
      I could be wrong and In no way am a snake expert (far from it) but am open to correction if am wrong.

    • @limoucheu8522

      @@oldmonk_ Snake have no sternum, than the ribs are completely free and for heavy weighted bodied snakes like these large Bitis and sometimes large crotalus should be always manipulate with large hooks with flat hooks. If you have a bad repartition of the weight you could damage the ribs and worse, the internal organs. Snakes are considerably lesser strong than you think. A bird could kill instantly a snake by a simple blow on his head or his neck. Than it is important to take precautions for an animal what have not evolved to be manipulate. Friendly

    Totally nutty. A gaboon viper can flip totally back wards and strike something touching its own back. The strike is blinding fast and explosive. Your playing with fire.

      @@rcss212 totally agree with u. Some people are in tune with these animals. Others see it as playing with death. where people like David can remain so calm it’s as if they are just a branch the snake is hanging from. Not everyone should do it. I've often wondered what it feels like to hold a Gaboon viper. They look really fat and heavy whereas I always imagine a King would feel like pure muscle. I loved how the green mamba calmed down once you'd got a comfortable hold of it's tail and raised it. You're awesome to watch and I love how Dan cares for his animals.

    I don’t want to sound like one of those oh he has a death wish guys but I probably will. Your knowledge and love for these animals is amazing and I do love your videos and the content you put out but this video is going to be in classrooms as how not to free handle deadly poisonous snakes. I know you love the touch and feel of the snakes but was it really necessary to hold the gaboon with both hands. You looked like you were second guessing your decision when he started turning around. They strike hard and fast and backwards. If he struck at you you would of dropped it and you could of injured the snake or been bit. If you would of hurt my snake I would of been pissed. Mambas are nuts and I presume that was your first time handling one. Your in a 10x10 box with with people around and the guy even has to tell you to leave it lay or it’s gonna climb the hook and tag you. Don’t you think you should of passed on handling being the conditions and your experience with the snake were not ideal. My ass gets puckered watching your videos but today was a hole new level. The wrong person is going to watch this and say if he can do it so can I and the outcome is going to come out horribly wrong. You don’t have to touch and feel every snake every time. Not trying to sound like your father and this is going to sound super corny but I was super disappointed watching this. Id hate to see something bad happen to you.

    • @michellemelville8979

      It can be a lot easier to read a snake if you physically have hands on it. I'd be wary of handling any viper species because as an Aussie I'm only used to handling elapids. And I'm a firm believer in snakes having their own personalities. One can be a wild caught chilled animal while a captive born and raised animal that may be several generations captive bred can be a complete psycho. I also believe that a venomous snake has no more want or desire to bite than any python.

    Probably said this before, but please give us better close ups of the snakes. You guys talk about the beautiful patterns, textures, etc. but give us much chance to appreciate it. I understand your dealing with a highly venomous creature that sometimes is very skittish but camera person doesn’t need to be within striking distance to get great shots. Better and softer lighting would also help. Even perhaps a little slow mo now and then if the snake is moving too frenetically to get sharp footage. Out in the wild is a whole different ballgame. Thanks.
