I thought I was hearing angels. This is one of those rare recordings that is so heartbreakingly beautiful that it can actually be hard to listen to because the tears start to flow. This music reminds me so much of those I love and have lost. A magnificent work that will touch hearts for ages.
YES. Insane how much it affected others like it did me. I saw it like two months ago and still think about it regularly. So haunting; it gives me a hollow feeling in my chest but at the same time I can’t stop returning to it.
@@thisisvalkyrie I KNOW RIGHT? It stays with you. It's like that gory car crash that you can't watch the aftermath of but yet you find yourself still having to peek lol.
In his autobiography, Swann wrote about this song and the King's Singers arrangement. Swann and Flanders recorded it in 4/4 common time, but the King's Singers reminded him that trains move in 6/8. This always brings a tear to my eye, whatever the meter.
I just gave it another thumbs down. What a load of pretentious rubbish. The kind of music posh upper middle class twats listen to. I bet you're a Tory voter.
EXACTLY.........I had to find where the song came from after I saw the video of the three women who threw it all away........I am retired with too much time on my hands !
Bless you. I've only recently discovered the complete works of F&S, but have been a King Singer's fan for years (seen the current KS in concert a few times). Now you've given me both together. How wonderful.

Talented singers, why not at least 50m views. The world has changed not for the better either...
M CAT says someone using youtube to listen to this & comment?? ALRIGHTY THEN

Each and every singer in this group has an amazing sense of pitch and a purity of tone that is unmatched.
Amen to that!

This arrangement of this song makes me cry.
Totally searched for this tune after the meth video. Such a haunting tune. So bittersweet.
Beautiful version of an incredible song.
The slow train of meth video bought me here.

@@charliechristie2949 sorry don't get you,
The best performance of this song I've heard. Can't say I remember the KS group; but once you hear them perform, their harmonizing just grows on you.
Beautiful melancholy song !

Thank you for putting so much work into this....great job!
soothing.
I would love to do an Acoustic Guitar version of this beautiful song.
Oh,, you should. That would be so awesome.
Makes me sad thinking of all the music that has been lost to time
i spent a night in Kirby Muxloe! right outside of Leicester.
Yep...
@Randy Stevenson. Makes this pretty song sound real ominous when coupled with the declining faces of a Meth addict doesn't it?
Doesn't it just!
What a creepy fucking song
