  • Dave The Pro Teaches You How To Hit A Hybrid Golf Club.
The hybrid is a minor miracle: It’s forgiving, versatile and easy to hit-for most golfers. But if you’re struggling to enjoy its many benefits, you may be swinging it with a sweeping, fairway wood motion. The result? Thin or fat contact. Instead, treat your hybrid more like a 6-iron. Swing it around your body, with enough of a descending blow to clip the ball off the turf. This setup position will help. You’ll soon be hitting a lot more greens (from a lot farther out), and your hybrid will become your favorite club.

Hello! I’m Liam the Peoples Golfer. I started this UA-cam channel to improve your golf game and to bring golfers together in a community.
My main focus is to create relatable and funny golf content while helping to improve the golf game of the average golfer! I also like to explore the Best Golf Courses around the world and Golf Courses Near Me!
I want to help Lower Your Handicap by sharing Golf Tips that help to Fix Your Slice, Fix your Hook and hit Longer Golf Shots! My channel features PGA Pro Lessons on how to Strike Your Irons Better, How to hit Long Distance Irons, Approach Shots and how to Draw or Fade your Golf Shot to get it Closer To The Hole. The Golfing Legend OMP shares Expert Golf Advice on Course Management, Chipping Perfectly and getting More Spin without thinning or duffing the shot. Top Golf tips on Golf Club choice and Golf Shot type. I also share lessons on How to Putt Better and how to Improve Putting Accuracy.
I like to keep my content Fun, Friendly and Informative. I will test Golf Clubs and Golf Training Aids that people are interested in and provide a real, honest and accurate review of their performance. For entertainment purposes I try out Golf Accessories and Golf Products and see if they can improve my performance or if they are in fact just a ‘Fad’.

Keep in mind that I link these companies and their products because of their quality and not because of the commission I receive from your purchases. The decision is yours, and whether or not you decide to buy something is completely up to you.
    BACK IT UP
Letting the ball creep too far forward in your stance makes it difficult to hit down on the ball. Place the toe of the hybrid against your left heel, with the clubface pointing toward your body, and set the ball opposite the hosel. This is the perfect ball position for a hybrid.
    BE NARROW-MINDED
You don’t need a wide base. Set your feet under your armpits. A narrower stance makes it easier to deliver a descending blow-it prevents the “roundness” that leads to thin and fat shots.
    SWING EASY, HIT FAR
Hybrids are longer than most approach-shot clubs, but that’s not your cue to step on the gas. Think “long club, smooth swing.” Imagine you’re holding a short iron or even a wedge. Don’t worry-most hybrids still have enough oomph to send the ball 200 or so yards, even with a less than full swing.
    PRESS FOR SUCCESS
A little shaft lean will promote ball-first, ground-second contact. Press your hands forward until they’re even with your left thigh. Think of your hybrids as mid-irons, and you’ll soon be hitting greens from way downtown.

Great instructional video. I have been fixing my posture as well. It takes some getting used to. I did the same thing and sat down into it. Years of bad habits to break takes time. Nice job cutting to the chase of the lesson as well. Some videos spend 20 mins taking and 3 mins of Instructions. A video that should be 8 mins or less. Well done sir, 👏 and Big Thank You to David! 👍🏻

Thks guys , went out for cheeky 9 holes.. based my game today on OMP 's guide and Dave's suggestion of standing a little straighter in posture.. Oh my gosh!!! What a difference , was getting cleaner strike on the ball plus better scores based on OMP's course management... if Mr Barlow is the 'Doctor' then OMP has to to be the 'Professor '!!!! Keep it up Golf Mates...

This advice counters all the advice I've been given for hitting a hybrid, and I hit mine beautifully and straight as can be, like Liam's last here. My swing with a hybrid is different than all my other swings, in that it's flatter for longer at the bottom. I was taught using props laid on the ground a foot apart, one at the impact point, and one a foot beyond. Leaves in one instance, and golf tees set deep in another, and both teachers were tour professionals. The drill is to hit both props consistently while only slightly bruising the grass. Once you get there, launching a hybrid is easy.

This is the best lesson I’ve ever got. Your backswing should be like using a bow and arrow. Do you pull a bow back quickly? Pull your backswing like pulling a bow. Look 2 inches in front of the ball your hips should start the downswing. Your head should be still don’t blink on the downswing.

Liam, you would hate me; I have got rid of my 5 wood (replaced with a 2 hybrid) and replaced my 3 & 4 irons with hybrids. I have more control over my long shots and am way more confident. I think hybrids take the best parts of irons, combined with the best parts of woods. I love hybrids.

I've been "Barlowing" my hybrids for awhile. I hit my three metal straight or with a nice draw. The left to right I've been getting accompanied by the occasional top has me reticent to pull them out of the bag especially if the round is going well. This was extremely helpful and I'll bring this vid on my phone to the range today and see if I can overcome my fear of hybrids.....BTW I think I just invented a new term for a slice...Barlowing it! I like hybrids and fairway woods. Lately, I've been using a 5 wood off the tee because I struggle with a driver. I don't get quite as much distance, but I get more accuracy. My favorite club to hit long shots off the ground is a 3 hybrid that was given to me.

I'm sure Dave has said this before, but if there's one recurring 'flaw' with your swing Liam, it's your tendency to straighten your arms as you commence your takeaway. You compensate nicely in the downswing, but your duffs come from when you don't. Just my 2c pal, thanks for the fab content.
