If ever there was a song that is truly timeless...
Way back when, I was driving back to college in the winter. I had smoked a joint and soon found myself heading into a snowstorm; this song came on the radio. The entire experience was surreal.
The song forever reminds me of winter and falling snow.

@claudettenicholson5183 Thanks. I know that era gets a lot of criticism for some of its music and fashion (polyester suits anyone?), but I truly believe the decade of the 1970s, especially the early part, produced the greatest, most inspired music in rock history. From the Beginning is a perfect example.

A song of forgiveness and aceptance inner and outer, sitting alone on a pacific northwest coast sunset. "Whatever was done is done" like when the levee breaks "Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good". Because in the end the only forgiveness that matters is the forgiveness that you give and accept is to yourself.

My first ELP album. I learned to play this on guitar and I sang along with it. Even sang, "you see it's aw cleeya..." I was so cool. Anyway, I became a drummer, met Carl Palmer in NY--no not a fan thing--a business thing. Got his address and for years sent him birthday cards in Tenerife until I lost his address. None of that matters I just love talking about ELP. Love those guys.

Had the incredible opportunity to see them in Brondby Hallen in Copenhagen Denmark back in 1974,.. such a “right into your face” by only being 3 members who constantly had to show their best… no hiding here,… and they did… totally did,.. fantastic individual musicians teaming up supporting each other making music history that will never die ✊🏻🇩🇰🇺🇸

When us old farts say they don’t make music like they used to this is exhibit A ! So many great bands in that late 60s to mid 70s era would blow away the crap of today 😢

There might have been things I missed...but it sure wasn't ELP in their heyday.
My first concert as a young man of 13...California Jam...1974...seeing Keith on his spinning grand piano blew my mind.
The 70's and 80's were so fecking great for music.
Real music created by real musicians...todays music is shite.

I was lucky enough to see ELP in concert in 1976. I was a freshman in high school. They played this song… still one of my favorites. Later, I learned to play guitar and this song was the one that made me feel like I had accomplished something.
