  • The United States, represented by Ambassador Bonnie Jenkins, Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security, is working closely with Guyana on a range of security issues. Key discussions with Prime Minister Mike Phillips and Chief of Staff Omar Khan include reducing Caribbean violence, curbing illegal arms trafficking, and integrating women into security forces. The U.S. is also closely monitoring the presence of Russia in the region and expressing unwavering support for Guyana amidst territorial threats from Venezuela.
