    Dump the excess as heat into a water tank.
    An insulated tank will hold its heat all day and night.

    Great video with many important details! One thing to remember to check when fitting a new cover is that there is absolutely no grit or anything inside it. Yours came out of the box which is good but if it's been in the bottom of a pannier it can pick up a bit of sand or something. It will rub into the inner tube and give you a flat after a few miles. Also I think even you might struggle to get a Schwalbe Marathon Plus off without levers. Sometimes you even need them to get them on, which can be risky, however Schwalbe have made some blue plastic levers with a very slender hook on them to prevent catching the tube and puncturing it. These are great levers anyway and the ones I just use for everything.

      Ya, so many lefty idiots like AOC despite a college "education" think a few solar panels or small wind turbine on a house, can make enough power. To run their house & charge car and that all our energy problems can be solved. It's literally scary that we have people as dumb as AOC trying to run country. She hopped in an SUV, with 4 friends, drove from NY to ND to protest an oil pipeline being built. Which is safer & cheaper than barge, train, tanker truck. She also has no problem using the gas pipelines into her home/apt. But sees other idiots protesting a pipeline & thinks "Durrr pipeline bad, me go protest also, for social media clout & attention."

    Dude! Excellent! (LOVE THE KEYBOARDS X-D) BUT IT NEEDS TO HAVE A AUTOMATIC (!) BREAK! (short circuit all wires when RPM get TOO HIGH) or it will EXPLODE during a storm 😎✌🍺 stay cool!) also the wires to your house should be a bit larger if u want to send 1.5kW and 2kW through it :D

    • @G-ra-ha-m
      @G-ra-ha-m 5 місяців тому

      Ideally feathering blades would be the answer, or simply flexible blades that bend away from sharp wind. Perhaps mechanical feathering - too much RPM then reduces the angle of attack.

    Can you guys get your hands on a mini hydroelectric generator and replace the blades on one of those. With a magnetic motor? Would like to see how well that works and I think it would be something you guys are more then capable of doing. Could be a new tech for alt energy...

    I stayed in a house in Scotland once which had a similar wind turbine -> battery -> inverter -> house arrangement. Though what was interesting is that there was an entire network of 12V lights and sockets around the house in order to avoid the need for the inverter and save even more power.

    • @teresashinkansen9402
      @teresashinkansen9402 7 місяців тому

      I wonder of having a 12V system actually saves power because you have more loss by distance of wiring, specially for things that draw high currents.

    • @skyem123
      @skyem123 7 місяців тому

      @@teresashinkansen9402That is a good point. I guess it's the trade off between the conversion costs and energy costs for the 240V vs the energy loss on the 12V.

      Ya, nothing wrong with that. But supposedly lithium offers more long term bang for buck but at higher startup costs. Also if something goes wrong & lithium batteries get damaged. Like a BMS could go bad & destroy battery bank. You're out all that $$$ bye bye long term cost savings.

      @@michaelbrinks8089 Lithium is fundamentally unsafe, especially in the home, lead acid is probably still the best, but perhaps AGM as flooded cells stratify over long times, unless given exercise - but perhaps in this use case would be fine.

    Hehe make some gunpowder from the pig sh*t... As for the generator, utilising a car steering wheel horn push from the centre you should be able to make a 360 degree contact so you can do away with the trailing cable to the generator, not that hard to make being two rings and two sprung contacts or brushes even.

    Obviously carbon fiber blades would be much harder to make (& not worth making unless making extra for sale) But would be more efficient/make more power, due to being lighter & also much stronger than PVC pipe. So they wouldn't need replacing often. Either from breaking in every thunderstorm or get brittle from uv rays.
    But a combination of Kevlar & fiberglass diy turbine blades would be fairly easy to make, much stronger, not any heavier & wouldn't need replacing every thunderstorm.
    I knew the difference between low & high speed turbines but didn't realize bigger blades like that made a big difference in low wind. A combination of wind & solar + plus backup seems the way to go. But often can't be done in residential areas.

    • @G-ra-ha-m
      @G-ra-ha-m 5 місяців тому +1

      Impossible to recycle carbon fibre. Weight has no bearing on efficiency, and ideally the blade will flex, to protect it.

    • @michaelbrinks8089
      @michaelbrinks8089 5 місяців тому

      @@G-ra-ha-m I always heard lighter blades were better but can easily see how that might be wrong information.

    • @G-ra-ha-m
      @G-ra-ha-m 5 місяців тому

      @@michaelbrinks8089 Lighter blades would be less likely to fly off at extreme RPM, but the flywheel action of heavy blades is not a problem, and as long as the pole can support them, it should be fine.
      The key I guess is for us to build one, out of anything we can find :)
