    ONE ACRE would be enough for me and my husband! We love country living, a vegetable garden, a greenhouse, bee hives, and animals (4 chickens, 1 sheep, and 1 dog). That's it!

    Moved from the city out into the country and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! Rural life allows you to be yourself, to live YOUR life, not the life your neighbors have. People are friendlier and life is just better out of the city.

    My boyfriend and I grew up in the country. When we turned 18 we moved to cities for 7 years. We just put an offer on a house in the middle of the woods and we cannot wait! Looks like the offer will be accepted as the sellers just called and offered us an additional 38 acres of mineral rights as long as we maintain the oil wells!

    I used to live in Belgrade, MT and moved to a Sarasota, Florida for a bit due to my job and man oh man, do I miss living in the country. The people are so much easy going and it's not about money, money, money out there like it is in the city.
    Anyway, I go back to Montana in May or June - and I am so happy to be back out there. I can just be myself again.

    Thank you so much for this video it’s so refreshing to hear someone like minded. I live in Rhode Island and I’ve always lived in the suburbs neighborhoods and now I live in the city I have a home it’s still a neighborhood. I’ve been here for 20 years I’ve raised my son he’s a teenager now and I have two dogs and a cat and like you I love to be outside and watch the animals and I get my happiness from that open space that I don’t have The neighbors are too close and they complain about too much that I feel that I have no freedom to really even enjoy my backyard, if my dog barks etc. so I’ve been looking at houses in a rural area of my state with about the acreage that you have not all usable of course but still space between people where I can breathe and relax on my personal time. I know the amenities are a little further away and there’s different types of systems like well water and no trash pick up things like that. But I’m ready for the change I’m 50 now and I wanna spend the rest of my life in the environment I truly want to be in

    I can’t stand small towns where everybody knows your business better than their own. I would love to have a remote property with no neighbours within a few hours drive to a large city. Just the best of both worlds in my opinion!

    I’m happy your video came up. I understand fully about the noise. I live in AZ in a small town, and have recently moved onto my friends 40 acres, in a RV. It’s a learning curve moving from a traditional stick and brick, but I wouldn’t change anything. Leaving behind family and familiarity on the very east coast was a little sad. I say little because I was absolutely finished with the explosive city growth and sky high rent, utilities, etc. I’m not high tech savvy like coding, writing programs, nevertheless , what I do know I find it challenging coming up with an idea to generate an income and where to find these online jobs. Indeed, Monster, etc., or even the remote job websites have been fruitless. I get a lot of junk mail. Any helpful directions? Thank you

    Not to put your business out there but what do you do for work? Does your wife work too? This is the issue I'm having and is making me hesitate to make the move.

    • @MikeGreenOutdoors
      @MikeGreenOutdoors  4 роки тому +3

      That is a very good question. I think this is the largest roadblock for most people that want to make the jump. For me, I am a business consultant (mostly dentists). I do this 100% online which gives me the flexibility to stay home. My wife is mostly a full-time homemaker though she is working on starting a gym here locally (her channel is fitlifewithalisha). That said, it was a process to get to this point. When I was trying to transition out of a regular 9-5 job, I started several side-hustles to help bridge the gap. That including everything from building chicken coops to sale and buying used washers and dryers to fix and resell. It was lots of work and sacrifice, but it was worth it to get us in a position where we could move to where we wanted and buy what we wanted.
      I think the first step in this process for this type of move (and most everything you want in life that seems out of reach) is to clearly identify what it is you want (with extreme specificity) and then acknowledge what it is you are willing to sacrifice to get there. For me, it was trading wasted TV time in the evening and weekends to build chicken coops and fix appliances. It took some time, but we got there.
      I hope that offers some clarity. Thanks Marcel for asking the question. I think I'll do a follow-up video on this topic.
