Our planes can land on the roads, emergency runways have been built there, all over Finland
yeah, for some reason most of videos keep forgetting this.
it's the same dispersed strategy with sweden. our airforces has multiple places to land and get on a new sortie. we've trained that with sweden even before we came members of nato
@@SandlyCut I mean it isn't that revolutionary of a thing. Very many countries have built their big roads with this in mind.
@@cassu6 Very true, but it is a key strategy not discussed often, which in this kind of video is kiiinda important.
Interesting fact Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finlands military airplane bosses have signed a treaty in 2023 to make the airforce a "Nordic airforce" instead of just country based.
So technically any of the northern countries got over 250+ modern fighter planes in their airforce now :). With a nice mix of F16, F35 and JAS 39's.
And F18
Lets just hope Dk gets their "new" fighters soon
Edit: I see that technically we already did... but its only a few of so far (F-35)
"On 14 September 2023, the first four F-35A fighters arrived at Skrydstrup air base after a transfer flight from Lockheed Martin's facilities in the USA." "17 on order to go" Wikipedia
and most of our F-16 are ending up getting sold for cheap to Ukraine
The first rule of invading Finland is that you don't invade Finland.
The second rule of invading Finland is that you don't invade Finland.
The third rule of invading Finland is that if you f around, you find out.

They forgot some of our eastern roads are carved into damn bedrock with impassable forests both sides, creating a bottleneck for artillery fire creating worse trap than hell on earth.
And 10m+ high rock left and right of the road where it did cut through a rocky hill. Explosives on both side, and that passage it filled with tons of rock boulders, 3 m high. Would require quite a few of Russian shovels to clear that up.
Those are Howitzers. Basically a Cannon/Mortar Hybrid, capable of shooting from extremely far away (Like a range of 30 kilometres) and with a massive firepower that will obliterate terrain and releases shrapnels with lethal radius of over 100 meters. Fun times trying walking over the border when 700 units of those will rain hell over you👍
Hearing this I am so proud of my neighbours to the east for being so ready and willing to defend their country.
Your welcome🤝
im allmost 50 and i would protect my country. btw greetings from Finland
Russia vs. Ukraine, both Slavic, full of corruption, bad management, and training. Still, Ukraine is holding on because of help like training, munitions from other countries, and great fighters full of persistence. Finland has well-trained soldiers, a well-equipped defense force, great mentality, designed for defense, great tactics against attacking forces, a great environment to operate in, and with NATO, even stronger and better intelligence. Finland could handle Russian attacks alone.
Let alone the strong defense capabilitys, the Finnish People are not alone!! It's not that far away from EU... We will be there then. Greetings from Germany...
yeah. EU, and the nordic countries. Sweden and Norway too, which would help greatly in keeping the airforces up and running.
FYI, Finland is in EU.
@solidsteel3634 We finns belong to Nato now with Sweden.
@@OccasusRaven I know, i am happy for this. 😁
Far away from EU? Finland has been a member for almost 30 years!
Finland's defense strategy is kinda like guerilla warfare, except done by an actual trained army.
For the record info we have +54 000 indirect nuclear attack proof bunkers all over Finland. If ye want, here is a more precise documentary about this particular subject, where you can even see the road, bridge and infrastructure guerilla style mining techniques. Oh, and fun fact: The biggest anti nuclear bunker, Merihaka, also boubles as local kiddy play ground and a swimming pool / spa. Here is the link: Not what you think - Why Finland Has 54,000 Nuclear Bunkers ua-cam.com/video/922Db-kztC0/v-deo.html
Putler attacked Ukraine because he didn't want NATO to expand. Well, with Finland now a NATO member he got over 1300 km more NATO border.
I honestly don't know what that lunatic thought would happen, that we'd start grovelling and buddying up with him and nicely ask to be left alone and continue being an obedient little ex wife? You could see the NATO play coming from miles and yet he decided it's a good idea to invade Ukraine and provoke the response with a full on surprised Pikachu face.
I would like to add something I don't see mentioned often. We have a vast and recognised support network called Sotilaskoti. It's a volunteer organisation made up of women (mostly older, it isn't popular with the youth) assisting army personnel in training by making life more comfortable (food trucks, cafes and events) They are all fiercely loyal and willing to defend the country. Not all the women know how to fight but many of us are willing to do whatever we can to support. I remember grandma saying that Lotat, the more known volunteer organisation during the wars got taken down but Sotilaskoti remained. The name literally translates to "Soldierhome"
They didn't mention our biggest military asset against an invading force: zillion mosquitos
Also, one thing to remember: Russia does not always act rationally. They CAN decide to do a suicide, being convinced for ex that NATO will not help, or that they can take over in 3 days... Helsinki alone is a huge fortress, it would take months to years to invade it. When you can move troops and equipment underground, in nuclear bomb proof tunnels and caves... Just look at Mariupol steel factory and how much they had trouble with just that. Now, make that 20 times bigger and extend the tunnels well outside the whole city. And all of it is purpose built, whereas in Mariupol it was only half designed for war time.
Yeah, they can take over in 3 days like they did in Ukraine... /s
If there would come war, I would go without hesitation. Everyone would understand it, even my father said who is 60y old that he would go immediatly. He doesnt remember lots of how things go but would take up arms if the situation would be so dire
The air force is relatively small in numbers. But the doctrine again is made against a larger enemy. The planes would be dispersed in roadside bases and would engage enemy planes from range, and then running. Causing casualties over time while saving their own numbers. Now that we are party of Nato our doctrine might change also into achieving total air superiority.
Don't think we ever will really change the "Airfield strategy" as long as our planes can use roads.
Think about that, in reserve are all men under 50 years, and officers under 60, So how many men are still ready to fight for our country, maybe million more? We can still shoot, and hide, most of us anyway. I was there, doing my military service when 17 .Wanted more from it, more pioneer things, those special ones, mostly demolition skills, for bridges and so, still got only basics of explosives training. But for me, there is only one enemy , and only way its coming is from east, russia.
The amount of "unofficial" reserves (those outside of active reserve and/or with Peace-time Exemptions AND almost entirety of female population) and how it is organized is something I personally kinda feel awe about. Almost every non-reservist male has some sort of "planned role" in war-time based on their civilian career. Much of the female workforce are also "earmarked" for certain roles and duties.
The amount of "active auxillaries" that (adm. just theoretically) could be mobilized without even stretching "mandatory service ages" for actual fighting population is staggering. And most of these WOULD take pride in their participation.
And to add to this: We do not have an " army " we have 'defence forces'. It is so common in speech that people don't really differentiate between them. We are not trained to attack as much, as to defend.
Finnish bunkers can house 75% of the entire population, and we have them everywhere. As per the constitution every building above 1200m2 needs to have a purpose-built population shelter able to withstand explosives, radiation, constructional collapse, and hazardous material.
You must seen movie ;Talvisota ( Winter War ) its very realistic.
In the famous game "World of Warcraft", thjis villain-hero Illidan always said, "You are not prepared!".
I'd say we Finland, we are prepared.
For many years, Sweden and Finland have had a military agreement in the event of war in either country. Sweden and Finland have also had joint military exercises, before both joined NATO. It is not true what is said that Sweden would only come after 12 hours to help Finland, unless Sweden had been in Finland after an hour or so with military personnel and then as soon as possible with warplanes.
Then as for Russia's constant threats against other countries, they do it because they are afraid and then Putin tries to scare and threaten, because they have no friends who can or want to help Russia.
Again, tuntematon sotilas isn't about winter war. It's about continuation war.
I know I would be willing to fight for my country
If you are Russian, which I believe you are, then I understand your position perfectly.
@@dennislindqvist1265 ruSSoNazis only fight to cause more massacres, ruSSoNazis NEVER defend
@@dennislindqvist1265 Nah I'm Finnish
that "82% willing to defend", is actually answer to: "are you willing to defend the country even if the outcome is unclear?" So we're willing to fight even when the outcome is unclear
Finland bought a Iron Dome from Israel and its operational at the end of this decade.
Not exactly. Finland bought David's Sling system, not iron dome.
Thank you for this great video. I am a Finn who learned much about my country thanks to you.
it's not only reserves it's willingness to defend out country. which is one of the highest anywhere.
Poland also very stronk. Peace and love from Finland
That artillery weapon you were wondering looks like 155K98. We used those when I was in the army. It's a beast.
You really dont need strong airforce when you have strong antiair systems and lots of cover in forests. There is alot of convertable airfields.
The war in Ukraine has actually proved that many of the traditional defense logics still are ok. This makes me feel safe, or at least less concerned. It's always been a question if mathematics: how much can the aggressor lose in resources in relation to the theroretical geographical gain? The worst risk, as i see it, would be fast attacks againt strategical objects. Power plants, harbours, theHelsinki region etc. Fortunately a lot of our soldiers have been trained extensively in defending urban and strategic targets.
About the tunnel network.. a friend just told me about the recording of their latest album. It happened on old barracks.. except that there is suspicious amounts of army personnel still hanging around, with out of proportion presence of police forces... because the army tunnels are still there but no one knows what is in them, if anything. I won't say where it is, of course, not that it would be any news for the enemy but, better not say.
We used to have tons of such bases and tunnels /storages around sweden, but most had to close down due to urban explorers kept ruining them.
Barring nuclear strikes I think the Finns could take Moscow…
I'm in the 3rd grade militia (last group of the reserves to be called in to service) but I would definately fight for my family and country if duty calls.
Finland, Sweden and Norway learned theyre leasson from WW2, come at us Mr Putin, the north will stand tall =)
Sweden learn what? Too hide their heads in the sand and let nazis have free passage to the north ?
It would be a nightmare to fly in Finlands airspace, there's huge armada of anti-aircraft missiles making it living hell to operate with jets...
abaut air force... its not weak. we have a round 3-4 laers air defence systems. allso thos 50+ fighter pilots are best what you can get in this planet.
Russians are welcome to Finland, just bring your own shovel.
@dwaynesview 9:10 Those are Howitzers, @SaintTyrael already told what they are in the comment section.
One thing i have seen people say about is that "why they don't make just new road and ignore existing ones".
The thing that is not mentioned often is how absolute fucking ass finnish forest is to traverse unless you can use roads, its not empty "farmland" that we have recently seen in Ukraine.
But rather its fairly dense forest with gift of natures tank traps from ice age in form of alot of rocks and boulders.
The things i detest most in my work is when i have to drive 30 ton excavator into forest is that maybe i can push down a small tree or two if they are in my way, but thats about it. After that i have to worry about excavator digging itself too deep into the soil so i have to lift myself up, then there is the rocky terrain which fucks up the tracks of excavator.
If anything is hostile to heavy machinery outside of vehicles used to cut said trees, its the forest.
You forgot the swamp (and lakes). Not exactly home terrain for excavators (or tanks) either.
Rocks + boulders: nature-provided Dragon's Teeth!
I remember that survey. I don't think the operative word was " to defend". It was "to die". I could remembering wrong though, so feel free to double check.
You mean Daavidin's sling air defense system , we was bought it in Israel, but assling far as I understand it has not yet been fully delivered and test, those were motorized 155mm. howitzers if I understood correctly, correct me if I was wrong.
As a Finn, I thank you for a good video, but you have to remember that in Russia, war is thought of differently than in the West, and Putin's mental movements cannot be understood with the western logic.
It would be stupid to challenge NATO forces face to face over something like Finland. However, NATO forces might have full plate somewhere and with someone else, and that would demand resources from Finland too. If that would be the case, not so much help would come if Russia attacks.
thing about Russia using nukes against Finland which would be their only somewhat effective means of attack.
would be like if some hillbilly took a defective shotgun and as it fired, 3/4 of the pellets hits on his own face instead.
sure that would be devastating hit to us, but as you said the nuclear fallout from any of the viable targets would be way too big on Russian's own population centers.
and then there would be the added situation that now they had opened the floodgates by attacking Nato member country with a nukes.
so the political fallout might be even worse than the actual fallout from the nuke.
Finland mentioned, subscriber hunt 😂enacted
Yes with or with out
Crazy thing is that defence force is mandatory here in Finland and you swear an oath while doing it. It is deep. Try us..
Jyväskylä sayis hi! Love this stuff, hate the war.
Before Finland join nato our biggest possible problem during possible war was supply. We depends lot of ships import stuff in Finland. Now that sea is secured because everyone around it are nato countries. War takes lot of material like we have seen in Ukraine and that material eventually win the wars. Ships are best and easiest way to bring that in. Everything else we can do it on our own.
Also Russians know tat we are not a threat. Im sure there would be lot of unhappy Russians if Putin decide to attack Finland. Russian people are mostly very likeable people, ofc there is some exceptions. However that fsb elite what hold power in Russia are thief gang, they are like mafia. Nobody like them, not even Russian average Joes. Russia is lot like nazi Germany was, there is not much what people can do against they goverment after situation is this bad. Fear and violence is powerful combination.
He really did that
1:35 " is he crazy?" ... Well yes. and what comes to posturing: He wears high heel shoes so he can look taller than he is. I mean someone, take out Putin, please?
Edit: Padded shoes that look like suit shoes, but have like 5cm of filling. Just google Putin shoes
2-3 days is for the fast reaction forces, so.. few hundred to couple of thousands, at most. In that scenario NATO can not empty out Baltic bases, which it would have to do to get any significant numbers in. It'll take couple of weeks to months to get foreign troops in such numbers that it matters. That is ok, we have enough to hold for months. Airforce can react in very short notice, specially since the formation of the Nordic Joint Airforce. And UK and Finland has a defence pact, UK would have to join in ASAP, not just send their NATO "quota".
Who doesen't have rocket launchers?
Here is another video about Finland and Russia stuff ua-cam.com/video/sqQ9ZnJ-F0c/v-deo.html
Hmm.. I think our reserve is more than 870,000. Its more like 1 million...
Jeezzz You ask what these guns are.... IT IS MENTIONED ON SCREEN!!!!!! READ IT!!!!!! 700+ Howitzers........
Never alone again
I would say our air forse is superior.
and with help of nato, total air superiority
Putin ain't doing notin'
Basicly after second worldwar whole finnish army is built around defending country against russians. Never forget where invasions are coming through the history.
I would fight. I am finish guy
And most of us. Over 90% would defend this country and leave it only in a body bag. It doesn´t matter did you go to the army or not. Most of women haven´t coz it´s only mandatory to men(we are hopefully changing it soon that it´s mandatory to women too). I said to my family: Nope. I don´t go anywhere. I would get a gun and give everything i got.
UK is plane carrierr
Damn, the "You have rocket launchers??" in the thumbnail almost made me think that Finland is still in the stone age and the military has to be prepared to fight with sticks and stones.
It's for clickbait he always does it. But i guess i can't realy blame him. It's basically a requirement these days to survive youtubes algorithms. I realy dislike clickbaity titles / thumbnails but pretty much everyone does it nowadays. So it's gotten so normalised.

I would definitely defend my country. I'm so glad to have been born in Finland. Finns like to complain that Finland "sucks" etc., but they have not experienced life in another country and how "bad" it could actually be. We have things very good here.
Yes. I moved from Germany to Finland 1999, and not once in that 25 years have regretted my decision.
Terveisiä Tampereelta :)
and its terrible idea because if russia invaded finland russia would have big area just full off rebellious people and the cost for invading finland would be big and you dont ge anything else than landmass from finland
Quite a lot of us can shoot. 2 kill. Period. And we can do it. We just can. Not proud of it.. But.. U r black.. We have black Finn's.. Like Somali's who are willing 2 give their lives 4 Finland. Why? Indeed. Go figure. I know. And I care... And I love. Look at our Everything of foreing.. Adapted 2 our "system" of brotherhood/sisterhood.
I'm much more pessimistic than most concerning this content. Sure, we can field huge reserves and hold on, with NATO support even longer. But, if Russia decides to go full scale, it will be rough and the country decimated. Even still, whatever gets lost we as a nation are gonna just take it on the chin like we did with Karjala.
In the US the willingness to protect their homeland is less than 5%, which is just crazy, and this even in the case if the country itself was under attack. Such massive mistrust in their own government and divisions in their politics. I do hope USA stays in NATO and pray that Donald Trump does not get re-elected.
Bruh you realize that fin is full of ruzkies? That's the biggest danger
Having some stupid "shock face" as a thumbnail is just going to alienate Finns if you're trying to get them to watch this. Just FYI.
Have to understand that finns get biggest wins against Ukraina people. Those "soldiers" came shore of black sea our north hunters.
Battle of rukajärven tie.
Yes. We even have bunkers for EVERY citizen to last straight full-on nuclear attacks.
We get to the bunkers in minutes.
The willingness to fight for our country is decreasing at some level due to the politicians and government not placing Finlands well being as their number one priority.
Of course... why are you acting surprised? It's cringe.
And one more thing, every country have army inside of their borders, if not own one, then its someone elses. Think about it?
When Russia invaded Ukraine, we ran out of ammunition in stores
Hundreds of thousands of hunters in Finland, who own 1.5 million of rifles, are highly skilled in wilderness survival, tracking, and living in the forests.
Who are we?
Ammunitionas are making more in our ammunition factories on day and night.
We had no say on nato and were dragged in illegally.
"close to a million inhabitants received training"
You should really ease off these stupid 100% ai-generated videos that have no proof-reading or fact-checking.
At least 2,5 million have had training.
Just lay off the ai-shit PLEASE!!
Not children and not old people have to go on the front lines.
Of course the Nato and the US wanted our glorious FDF for free.. We've had it for 106 years, training every year after year, every age class after age class through generations.. The most powerful and firepowerfull armed force in all of Europe.. And we gave it out for free..xD
Gave away what exactly?

Finland attacking Russia would be a big mistake
And why would we attack them? We want them to leave us ALONE.
Why would finland attack russia? There isnt anything to gain from it? Defending the country is more important than attacking russia
You are projecting.
Finland's military is built purely to defend Finland, not for attack. We just want to be left alone.
I agree with the others - it makes no sense to attack Russia. From what I hear, Finns don't even want the land back they had to cede to Russia (Karelia). Full of Russians and economically a bottomless pit trying to make it inhabitable in Western sense of the word. German reunification was a financial drain which can be felt still today. Getting Karelia back would be ten times worse, and Finnish economy is tiny compared to Germany.
And sweden might have worlds 3rd strongest airforce in the world. Atleast its in top 5. If you didnt know there was an swedish air force volunteers with swedens planes defending northern Finland in winterwar (F 19 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Regiment_19,_Finnish_Air_Force ). Not so much but still more than 10% of Finlands planes used in that war. In my opinion pretty important help to not to let soviets bomb everything freely with no risk of losing planes..
