As an amateur indie game dev - im blown away by the fidelity of the spiders legs... that must've been real tricky to code. They're always touching a surface, never floating in the air weirdly. Even when going along the web they grapple it perfectly. Very impressive :D
@@taylorbrecht8049 I know you're joking, but object collision and the kind of search algorithms you need to efficiently find "nearest thing" are actually fairly complex. Not to mention the lack of hyper-extending or folding in weird ways, and all with that slightly unsettling spider-like movement animation, which means it's not just figuring out where to be *now* , but also where to go *next* and an appropriate path to get there. It's very cleanly done.
Webbed? Yeah, there's a major similarity in mechanics. I actually bought and played through that one myself, it was utterly adorable and an absolutely fantastic game.
Cool, I saw this game in the indie dev Reddit being made/changed. This seems like a slightly older build where the web just lasers out of you! They made a nice new sort of wobbly string animation for it now
there's something about the spider models that remind me of an real old TV show, competing groups made/designed a weird creature (spore style) and had said creature do challenges against other creatures... can't for the life of me remember the name tho.
I checked out the demo and there are loads of Easter Eggs 🥚 and collectibles 🎲 hidden around the maps. I love the cute visuals and friendly tone of the game! Would love to see more!
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1701 Awww, honestly I do really like spider games, the wall climbing and web making is so fun, and adore these kind of Quest Area Games (Not sure what the genre is called). So, a lovely cute combination of them is delightful :D I would very much love to see more of this game, hyped for the full thing The spider models actually remind me alot of Bamzooki "What's Wrong?" Tom issues to the baby spider as he uses a pumpkin to plough it into the ground XD "ROUS" He he he XD
I don't know why, but the moment I saw the lil spiders it unlocked the memory of watching Bamzooki on CBBC as a kid which I haven't thought about in over a decade 😅
Somehow this game really gives me Bugsnax vibes except it's like you're playing as a bugsnak instead of one of the monsters who eat their sweet snacky flesh 🕷🐛
"We are a spider but also we have a cool web power"... Somebody please tell our devilishly handsome leader (not reader) that spiders spin webs... Love the content (in case you eventually actually learn to read)!
My flat is infested with spiders and i kill 2 every night of various sizes in the summertime. But watching this cute virtual spider is still pleasant somehow
*_Ackshually_* Tom, Spider-Spider is a real Marvel hero already. A Spider bitten by a Radioactive Spider in Universe 424 first introduced in Spectacular Spider-Man 333. She was also telepathic, so, you know, she could talk to Peter. Or maybe it was Peter. You know. Clone saga. I guarantee someone had to double check this.
Bees get thrown out if they're drunk? Well I guess they should be sticking to playing with balls. Worker bees know they can take a little downtime to play before getting back to work.
I initially thought that Tomliboo had picked this game to appeal to the algorithm and avoid demonitisation. Then he said 'shit' three and a half minutes in so I thought perhaps not. 😂
Tom: Drops a pumpkin on a baby spider, making it scream and clipping it into the floor.
Also Tom: "What's wrong?"
lmao

The decoy of the people
As a UA-cam commenter it's actually quite easy.
If (spider legs no touch)
Then (spider leg touch nearest thing)
SOLVED 😎
I believe it's called inverse kinematics IIRC
As a dummy who just plays computer games I thought the spiders looked pretty cool when they moved!

Very nice webbing mechanic. I remember the silly 2D spider game you played a while back

The funny thing is I saw a dev log thing for this yesterday. They plugged the sink and flooded the kitchen
Tom: I love multiballs!
Gamedev: I heard you!
Egg: literally a matryoshka egg

I'm glad this is so cute and stylised, because the leg movement is *just* twitchy enough to be upsetting otherwise~

Bamzooki! I loved that show when I was a kid
@@zachgriffin7387 I'm so glad I'm not the only one to remember that show, it was so good
@@jeffreysanders612 I dont remember the show but I had the game!! Spent countless hours on it!
Cute indy game + Princess Bride reference + Tom video; Match made in heaven.
I checked out the demo and there are loads of Easter Eggs 🥚 and collectibles 🎲 hidden around the maps. I love the cute visuals and friendly tone of the game! Would love to see more!
Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist.
I was hoping someone else got the reference.
There are so many games where you can be a Spider-MAN but only two where you can be an actual spider.

Oh, this is beyond neat. Can't wait for the full game.

I had exactly the same thought!
100% my first thought. Now we need a spider quest to chase large red hemispheres
I remember playing the game they put out of it, then you could try other people's creations and stuff. God that must've been like 15 years ago 😲
Well that is just adorable. Looks like a great time. Definitely going to check out the demo.
Some of the web mechanics/puzzle-solving vaguely remind me of supraland. Pretty cool
Tom! You and Simon should play Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. It's got puzzles and spooks - just the job for the Riddle Bros!
Somehow this game really gives me Bugsnax vibes except it's like you're playing as a bugsnak instead of one of the monsters who eat their sweet snacky flesh 🕷🐛
6:00 I did the exact same thing with the egg cracked it at least thirty times before I was told about the gate😅😂
King Spider-Spider is the adorably geometric hero I never knew I needed.
The second island must have been formerly known as the Fire Swamp, considering it houses a skeleton of an ROUS... :eyes:
Wow, that is some realistic spidery movement! I felt vaguely itchy the whole time I was watching the video.
amazing game well found mister Angor!

This game looks very cute.

What's swinging? Oh yeah it's Tom! XD Well played.
This is the cutest shit ever ngl. Love spiders
Something about the art style reminds me of that Zelda PC game with the strange cutscenes; the ones that have all become memes & YTPs...
the lil bebes are fuckin adorable
I know I'm 10 days late, but does anyone remember Bamzooki?
The Philip Glass-y background music is great in this game.
What a cute game!!!
The spiders make Jerma noises

Do you all remember Bamzookie?
The spider looks like it’s from that show.
Whoa spiders!
Tom would love playing Grow Home
Webbed but 3D? If this game can be half as charming as that one it’ll be a good time
No, nope, nopey-nope! (prepares newspaper with malicious internet)
"malicious internet" ;P
Tom didn't recognize Rodents of unusual size?? Somebody get him to watch princess bride.
Though they're squares with legs, the leg movement is so well done it makes me itchy.
this reminds me alot of the game grow up, did anyone else ever play that?
I play that game. It was so fun.
Abominably CUTE
Love a good 3d platformer
Apt seeing this uploaded after kyle hill's video about the ongoing insect extinction
Holy shit 3 mins? Think that's the fastest I've gotten here lol
This gives wobbly life vibes
Bees get thrown out if they're drunk?
Well I guess they should be sticking to playing with balls.

Mandatory Algorithmic Comment Because We Love Tom And The Spider King!!!
Spiders!!! Yay!
I initially thought that Tomliboo had picked this game to appeal to the algorithm and avoid demonitisation. Then he said 'shit' three and a half minutes in so I thought perhaps not. 😂
How do I go to the kitchen map
Argh! Holy shit arachnophobia warning please!
Those legs…
… very well animated. Turn cute spider into horror moving monster!
Is this a playtest?
