It was a bizarre choice on Lattafa's part to so specifically copy the marketing and bottling of a major label. It was inevitable.
Well put. For context, look at Neroli Canvas, the pitch-perfect clone of Neroli Portofino by Al-Haramain---looks nothing like the TF original.
The labels on these Lattafa clones might as well have all read "Sue me."

I buy those clones BECAUSE I can't afford Tom Ford's ridiculously overpriced private blend fragrances. Unless Tom Ford is somehow planning to have my income boosted, they aren't about to see an increase in purchases from me, anyway. I would imagine I'm not the only one in this position.

You’re not that special for Tom Ford to bring their prices for lol. Obviously they’re a successful brand not needing your money. That being said, other fragrance companies know how to closely duplicate these scents and realize that people will buy their brand because of a lower price. At the end of the day, they want to make money too.

I realise money goes in to developing a fragrance so houses want to protect their product from dupes/clones. The issue is pricing. If they were a little less pretentious in the pricing then the clones would not be so necessary. Pretty much everyone knows that a vast amount of the money paid is for the name and not the scent. I absolutely refuse to pay £250 for something when I know I can get something else virtually identical for 1/10th of the price. Fashion houses need to climb down off their ivory towers sometimes. Sticking an exhorbitant price and your name on something doesn't make it great.

Without the discussion about clones being ethical or not - most of us will hate not being able to buy cheap, quality daily drivers that smell like more expensive fragrances which we either can’t afford or just don’t want to use up that fast
Agreed, I had such a hard time finding the proper fragrance. The market is so saturated with gossip and nonsense it's impossible to get the straight story on anything.

I think it comes down to packaging after awhile people buy by sight the box with the tiger on the box with the leprechaun ect I think repackage nemane and relaunch

honestly i though the same when I first got toscano leather, but now its one of the best layering fragrances for winter

I am too!! I honestly expected this ALOT sooner! Whether folks want to admit to it or not, it is WRONG to outright COPY someone else's work! Let's be real here! If we were fragrance creators, how would we feel about someone just straight up copying our hard work? I know I would upset about it!
Now , there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being inspired by fragrances, nothing at all! But, make sure it is your OWN original design, your OWN original name, where it CANNOT be mistaken for anyone else's! Right is right, & wrong is wrong! I'm glad honestly, & others will be following suit!

Clones companies got too brave. Not sure who thought that copying every aspect of the fragrance was a wise move
There’s no way for a brand to copyright or patent the juice of a fragrance, but they’re entirely within their right to patent and copyright their bottle designs. I imagine lattafa will discontinue these fragrances only until they can repackage the juice under a different look and name

Khamrah is in my opinion the greatest fragrance ever produced by a clone house. It's quality and depth are amazing. I'd pay £100 plus for it.

Khamrah isn’t a dupe and isn’t similar to Angels Share. She does her own thang. The bottle is very similar to a Kilian bottle, the contents are decidedly not.

L'Oreal is losing exactly 0 sales. No one buying a $25 middle eastern clone fragrance was planning to buy a $300 50ml bottle of Tom Ford. The people on fragrantica talking about how they don't use their Tom Ford bottle because they bought a clone are kidding themselves. The only Tom Ford they have is what they spray on in Sephora or Nordstroms.

Correct. I have exactly two OG fragrances that I am slowly saving up to buy: Amouage Lilac Love and Montale Honey Aoud. Because I know of no clone/dupe. Otherwise, I never purchase these expensive fragrances because we live on a modest $55k’ish/year income. I’m not ever buying Tom Ford.

I've been in a fruity mood recently, so I ran to eBay and picked up Not Bitter Peach and Not Lost Cherry, which I didn't know about until a perusal of Fragrantica but is obviously one of the ones going away. They won’t discontinue them. All they have to do is just change the bottles. You cannot copyright a scent.

It’s funny how it was the presentation in the end that got them. Because in reality most perfumers get “inspired” by other fragrances ironically most of the time their own previous creations.
Yeah. Because suing for the scent means, the court will publicize the formula of the scent profile. Bottle Design and presentation will hold water because of a thing we call Trade Dress.
@@crigonalgaming1258 I’m not sure the court would publicize the formula considering the lawsuit would be based on IP but even if they did clone houses use a mass spectrometer to find out what the formula is anyways. No secrets when it comes to juice formula as it is.

Ive only just come across this video. Had therebeen a change in circumstances with this now or is it just taking a bit longer than expected to take affect? I'm still able to purchase all of these no problem.
Theres alot of "confirmed" and "verified" being thrown around here without any source backing it up whatsoever. I find it a little odd as there are no laws preventing fake or copied goods in Saudi Arabia, which is not uncommon. These laws are not present in the UK as well, and therefor its legal to sell fake goods like Gucci bags etc. I cant take this serious as there are no sources presented and the fact that it comes from a guy who also said Bleu Electrique also was discontinued without any sources again, which was also wrong.
Well that just cost me a little over $200 in dupes, but I love the T.F. Bottles so thanks for the heads up. 😉👍🏻

I just picked up bright peach, rose petals and tobacco touch. It’s hard to regulate the actual juice of the fragrance so that is more than likely not going to change but I do like these bottles

Oud Wood is my go-to work fragrance. Can't afford it, so naturally clones are my best option
@@jasooma6869 The quality drop is what bothers me the most. Compare the old Oud Wood formulation (gold label) with the new one...The latter lasts 4 hours max. & doesnt smell as "full-bodied".

@@selimhajiyev3516 Definitely. Don't listen to all this feminine/masculine/summer/winter/fall/spring/day/night stuff. Get some samples, try it out for yourself and then decide if you like it or not. Remember that many perfumes, at least those inspired by scents from Africa, The Near East & Asia etc are often labeled as "fall/winter" perfumes by perfume youtubers from the west, even though the scent accords themselves are used all year around in hot climates in the countries in which they originated. It's all relative at the end of the day.

This is inevitable. Then, there's the brand called fragrance world, the copying is even more obvious. As far as I know, the scent can't be copyrighted or trademarked because different ingredients can result to a similar scent, but the bottle and presentation (design) can, so, a heads up for clone brands.
They just need to change the bottle design. You can’t get sued for scents.
Have you noticed many clone brands don’t make it to USA Amazon marketplace like the clones from the Egyptian market. I was thinking it was related to the ingredients they use.
Thats also why i question this statement. US laws doesnt apply to middle eastern countries lol so the Tom Ford branch cant just sue them, as its legal in the country of production.
Might be because the ingredients aren't up to the standards required for them to be sold on the US market (if we're talking about Amazon USA). One cannot trademark a formulation, so that's got nothing to do with it.
Hahahah just ordered bright peach this morning. I also read a lot of reviews stating different bottles arrived broken or snapped at the neck where the atomizer sits. That could be another reason, just simple design flaw. 🤷♂
