Neil plays keyboard/piano and digital mostly but also can play guitar and several other instruments. And yeah, he wrote and composed this whole album as well as some of his others, and it's all his voice :)
@@williamroeben Some of his stuff is a bit raw execution-wise (I'm obviously parroting what Anthony Fantano said, but that's because I agree) but the rawness works so often
Whilst all of his music has a bit of silly charm, he talks about some serious stuff and has some like actual analysis, like in Redesign Your Logo and Lifetime Achievement Award
"Has some like actual analysis, like in Redesign Your Logo" - It's literally a song about over-analyzing and making fun of pepsi for the ridiculous amount of money put into a logo.
The strings are probably synthwork, digital I'd estimate. I'm pretty sure LD is Neil's solo project. You were right though, Spirit Phone does in fact all flow together. Its theme is the supernatural, real, fake, and/or imagined. This song was about those conspiracy guys who call into am radio shows. Another track you'd probably get a kick out of from that album is Reaganomics.
Thanks for reacting I love this song! Though I would like to note the album 'Spirit Phone' where this song came from is actually pretty dark. Most of the songs are upbeat but describe desperation to connect with others and commenting on how life is unfair. Touch-Tone Telephone is very blatant about the former.
I frickin loved lemon demon over 10 years ago when I discovered it. Word disassociation was the first I ever heard. Recently went back, remembered my love for nothing worth loving isn't askew but holy shit touch tone telephone grabbed me. I love it.,
my alcoholism and ADD. if i try to REMEMBER the things i want to say, they are GONE. most of the things i say are off the top of my head, in-0the-moment impressions, so listening and THEN commenting leaves me with nothing to say.

The strings sound like they're a violin overdubbed repeatedly but it works.

@@ZwoolkTheNarwhale but still, it's a pretty good commentary on commercial psychology
@@ZwoolkTheNarwhale i mean, those logo documents were straight up dystopian lmao
and in two trucks of course
I love Lemon Demon. The whole album that Touch-Tone Telephone is on, is great

Geoph Smith yes, Spirit Phone! It's a great album, without the bonus tracks, the last and first song loop into each other.
the bonus tracks are pretty good, i understand why theyre not on the main album
@@Jo-mx4xl You're At the Party deserved to be on the main album though
