This put me in tears, lots of them. I grew up close to the Transportation Museum. Just can't thank Ed Dickens and his top-notch crew for such a loving tribute to a Museum so dear to me.👏👏💯😊❤🚂❗❗
The biggest locomotive ever built, steam or diesel, articulated to bend in two places. I remember seeing this Big Boy at the rail museum in Pomona, CA before UP bought it back to disassemble, rebuild and restore to its former glory. 🚂
What a machine! Full marks to the team who got it running again. You cannot beat a steam locomotive for visceral drama, and this is as dramatic as you can get! I’ve loved following the resurrection of 4014, and hope one day to get over to the US to see it first hand.
I'm sure the drivers of that locomotive get so tired of blowing that whistle, but I'm guessing, like me as a truck driver, the ear to ear grin and excitement seen on children's faces makes it all worth it when they do. Just like when I see a child pumping his or her little arm for me to blow the air horn on my truck, I get a grin as big as theirs from their reaction. 😁
@@donstrains - St. Louis in the summer is usually hot & humid. Were you one of the individuals who paid for a parking space? (If you were, I was one of the two people at the Parking Lot 2 gate). :)
@@donstrains - yes! When I was young the only way to access the museum grounds was via Big Bend Road. It's a lot easier now, and it's great to see the expansion.
@@ManagedPan1k - yes, for the time they offered "excursions" those tickets were over $1K/ticket. Was usually offered 1st to UP families/execs, and anything left over could go out to the general public.
At the museum of transportation in St.Louis there are two steam locomotives they been offered significant amounts of money for by two different goups to get restored to working order because of there significance in railroad history but the museum turned both groups offers down which is sad because a lot of significance steam locomotives are stuck in museums like this and will never have a chance to be fully restored to ever run again which is sad
@@donstrainsI think it's because they know the train section is what draws people to the museum an that's why they won't let go of any locomotive they have even if they know it is a Significant locomotive to railroad history which is sad
That whistle never gets old...

4006 had to have heard it ! Oh yes 4014 brother 4006 is in that Museum

I caught 4014 in Dupo. Pretty special to have 2 Big Boys in close proximity at the museum. Thanks for sharing 👍

Can't think of a better place to watch from then the National Museum of Transportation! T4
Awesome place to catch the Big Boy 😎 my video went up today 👍

Great video my friend👍didn’t know it was stopping there? I tried to get a good spot in Webster but that didn’t happen lol . Awesome video 👍
Awesome is all I can say!!
Very nice! I wish they could've put Big Boy 4006 next to 4014
Was there any way to photograph the two in one image? Or were they too far apart?
@@hawkeyeten2450 Pretty far apart with a building in between, but someone with a drone could get some shots...
awesome stuff, would like to catch it next week!
I’m jealous. 🤯🤩
Thanks for visiting the National Museum of Transportation to see the 4006 & 4014!
I always have a good time when I visit. I just wish it wasn't so hot.

Yes, I did get a reserved spot. I still remember when that was the only parking lot and you entered through the station at the back!

That is certainly before my time. But I am very happy to see continuing expansion!
I think one of the other Big boys is at the National Museum of Transport also?
Yes. They do have one.
Yes, 4006.
Man that must have been sweet to see the Big Boy I wounder who was riding in the passenger cars
UP execs if I had to guess.
Its costs $650 - $1100 to get a ticket on the train i think

@@jeanlaws8210 very informative
Greetings, Don! My family and I were chasing 4014 all the way to Washington today. How long did they hang out there at the museum?
Maybe about 10 minutes total. It wasn't much longer than what my video showed. It was a cool surprise that they decided to stop for a bit.
I think I asked you if you were a professional. 😆
We are three in the Big Bot T-Shrits with the locations of the tour on the back in this video.
I saw you guys but we didn't talk.
I wish 4006 had heard the whistle and lit her fire on her own!

I wonder why they won't let them fix them.

Makes sense I guess
Which 2?
What 2 engines?
It would have been awesome if they could have rigged up the whistle on the 4006 so the 4006 could pay homage to its little brother...
