- Join the late, great, costume designer, Travis Halsey, as he demonstrates his methods to draft, create, and assemble a professional ballet bodice. This video is a part of a two-part series that originally aired as a webinar for students around the world, hosted in his costume shop, Halsey Onstage, in Chicago.

I really learned the fine tuning for the bodice. All need is the pattern after being shown how to do the sewing techniques. Fabulous!

Ive always put the boning channels on the seams, i wondered what the pros and cons of each method are.
I learned to "float" the bones on the coutil layer, so that the seams are accessible for altering. Also for a tutu bodice, I prefer it to look like a bodice, not a corset with all the bone sewing lines showing.
He mentioned it briefly in the video, but putting the boning on the seams makes it harder to alter, because you'd have to take the whole boning channel off in order to take anything in
