the scene where he can run and walk without the crutch is beautiful, the fact that he finally could outran the boat... and the song. Damn, rlly great show
OMG I didn't fully realize he was outrunning a boat. It is a beautiful scene and ur just so happy that he's happy. For me I did also suspect that somehow there would be bad consequences or it might be something bad happens to him bc of the shimmer.
His accent and quirky personalities in Act I makes him really attractive. Then we witness his backstory and the fact that most likely that he's going to become a machine kinda sadden me. He is not evil, but i wish he would've stayed 'human' in the finale.
What's wrong with saving himself through Augmentations ? These comments just shows how unprepared our current world is in the face of AI or robotisation of the human race. It's NOT sad, it's super epic and awesome !
@BAGHDAD Looking at it another way, though, it's kind of like Anakin Skywalker. It's not about what he becomes - we know what he becomes. It's about how he got there.
One cool thing is Heimerdinger's introductory scene, where he visits Jayce in the holding cell and remarks on prison "holding the body captive while the mind is still free." What's so cool about that line is that it is literally Viktor's story. He has a brilliant free mind, while is body is held captive by sickness.
I think people love Viktor so much because he is Tragic Hero done correctly. A Dramatic Hero is defined by having a characteristic that despite all odds allows them to succeed in their goals. For example bravery, strength, empathy etc. despite the adversity the Dramatic Heroes face the audience can root for the Dramatic Hero because they have been guided subtly that they will succeed because they have this one heroic trait. Tragic Heroes are the inverse, Tragic Heroes have one flaw that despite the odds will lead to their downfall. For Viktor it's his inability to accept his fate and his insecurity of contributing enough to the world due to the limited time in the world further exacerbated by his physical ailments restricting what work he can do. The trick with tragedies, and what makes them difficult to create as opposed to Dramas, is that you have present circumstances that get worse because of the Tragic Hero's flaw, worse than they would've been if it had happened to anybody else. In this way the audience kind of knows what's going to happen, knowing the Tragic Heroes' flaw and seeing it play out provides catharsis. To reach peak catharsis perhaps an unforeseen outcome results that in the moment is unexpected but after looking at the circumstance and the Tragic Heroes' flaw makes total sense in hindsight. For Viktor we know that he does not want to accept death coming for him. We know that he is insecure about his contribution to the world and that he fears leaving this world contributing little or nothing. Based on this his actions to push boundaries at the cost of his health, to seek ways to extend his life in the hopes of gaining more time to contribute all make sense and seeing what he becomes is tragically cathartic. Players of League know how he turns out so there is an extra layer of Dramatic Irony that League players in the audience get to enjoy as they see the start of Viktor's Tragedy. Jinx is also a great example of a Tragic Hero. We know that she desperately seeks affection and validation. We know that she feels useless and that belief is further reinforced every time her group has to deal with set backs due to her lack of fighting ability or inexperience. We know she desperately fears being alone. So when she ignores Vi's order to stay away from the fight it makes sense because of this flaw in her character. The twist and tragedy is when her actions make the outcome so much worse. But again despite being a "twist" the audience will accept it because it follows from Powder's flaw and the circumstance that this could be a possible result. The tragedy is that it was just a flip of a coin or fate of what the outcome could be but despite things that are in the hero's favor, this was the outcome and it makes sense because of their flaw. The wall was broken, Vander was free and Vi was safe for the moment. Powder's actions made the circumstances significantly worse and those actions were caused by her tragic flaw. When Tragedy is done right it's cathartic. But it's difficult to get right because it needs to be believable, realistic scenarios made worse by the character's inherent flaw. Otherwise it's just bad stuff happening to the protagonist due to no real fault of their own.
@@Brunaulf Jayce is an idealist. He genuinely wants to harness the power through Hextech to make the lives of everyone better. In Runeterra only people born with magical affinity are able to use it. As a result the world has basically two classes of people: people who can use magic and people who can't. Because of the sheer amount of power magic provides the people who can use it have naturally become rulers, tyrants warlords etc. Piltover was actually created as a refuge for non-magic people to get away from the wars and destruction caused by mages and magic. Heimerdinger, one of the founders witnessed the Rune Wars which was a massive battle between mages for the control of runes that could create or destroy continents. The undercity or Zaun was actually created because mages wanted to connect two oceans, the Fissure where Zaun would later be located was created because of a civil works project, this is the kind of power we are talking about here. Enter Jayce who grows up in Piltover. We know from the series that he was most likely a gifted student that was given patronage by Caitlyn's family in exchange for him to increase their prestige through his scientific advancements, only possible due to their patronage. From this we can assume that whilst he has noble ideals and a hard work ethic he probably had a very easy and sheltered life. As long as he continued to excel in his studies and focus on his science anything he needed would be paid for. Accommodation, education, materials for his experiments, a lab etc. all would have been paid through the patronage of the Kirraman family. This is important because it demonstrates that Jayce has lived in a bubble that has allowed him to believe that you can achieve what you want through hard work and the strength of your principles. We see that outside of science he doesn't really know how the world works. He is naïve and doesn't understand why people wouldn't use scientific progress for just the benefit of humanity. He doesn't understand how people can be corrupt or how politics is about more than just ideals. His principles and values are correct but they are immature so when he fumbles in the world of politics where he doesn't have the necessary understanding of the cunning and self interest that is common in politics and corruption he questions himself and possibly his values. Mel sees that Jayce is naïve and inexperienced and thus easily manipulated. Like, there's knowing the manipulation game and playing which is the level all the other Councilors are at and then there's not even knowing that there is a game being played, that's the level Jayce is at. A good contrast to compare Jayce with would be Grayson. Grayson is a mature idealist, she still holds onto higher values like protection of the people but she is experienced enough with the world that she knows that she has to play the game if she even wants a chance at fulfilling her values. But she knows where the line is for her and she will not cross it, that defines the maturity, where as an immature idealist like Jayce would allow the line to be blurred or even erased as they are challenged by the discrepancy between their idealized world and reality. She makes peace with the Undercity with her negotiations with Vander and she has an understanding from maturity that the Undercity is full of just people. She is past the point of categorizing people as being good or bad and is at the point where she understands that everyone has their own story and things are much more complex. That's why she doesn't see the people of the Undercity as "enemies" stopping her from "protecting her people" she genuinely wants to make the world safe, for everyone, including the Undercity. But again she is not naïve like Jayce in the sense that she believes that she can make it so just through the power of her convictions. No she has matured enough to see things as they are, people just being people, whilst still holding on to her values. Jayce is basically an immature idealist. Someone who holds lofty values and thinks that they will be realized just through their own righteousness. Unfortunately the world doesn't work that way. Other people have other values and if they don't value the same thing as you then to them your values on their own don't influence them at all. Often times, when realizing this truth idealists become bitter and get angry at the world for not meeting their idealized standard. Or they sacrifice their values and decide to work with the system believing that getting some results is better than no results, abandoning their values and essentially selling their soul. Grayson is one of the few mature idealists (in real life this applies too) who understands how the world works yet in spite of it doesn't abandon their values and still tries to realize them through engaging with the world in a non spiteful way. I guess we will see how Jayce ends up.
The scene on the river is really powerful, a cruel metaphor on how the progress leaves people weak behind, it applies to Viktor and Jayce, but also to Piltover and Zaun.
@@Brunaulf i didn’t catch it at First, like i just rewatched act 2 and when Viktor puts his boat he smiles and runs, but is unable to run, but if you paid attention Jayce and Piltover Prosper, Zaun did too , but at the same time it became more decadent, Silco points out “the world grows smaller and they leave us behind” this act 2 made me think the entire message of the show revolts around about being left behind, rich people left Zaun to rot, Vi abandoned Powder, Jayce is leaving Viktor behind, but isn’t necessarily intentional, everyone is forced by the circumstances, even Heimerdinger has been left behind.
Progress has literally allowed millions to survive and thrive when they otherwise would've died if they were left to natural forces, particularly scientific and medical progress. If anything progress has always been a friend to the weak. Viktor and Jayce's main goal as always been to help the less fortunate by leveling the playing field by sharing scientific progress. The problem isn't progress leaving behind the weak, it's the rich and powerful hoarding the advancements of progress for themselves and channeling it for the purposes of increasing their wealth rather than materially benefitting everybody. The scene with Viktor was a personal analogy of how his physical disabilities prevent him from keeping up with his genius.
Correct me if Im wrong, but doesnt the lore say he's weak because of the pollution in Zaun? He grew up in a toxic place and his body couldn't cope. It doesn't say anything about him being born weak or being born with some disease so it can be assumed that Viktor was born normal and healthy
@@magicalmilimi894 i said in the video also that he is sick because the air in zaun was so polluted, but hello’s comment is just being inspirational and im here for it!
He definitely is my favorite storyline. Heimerdinger is willing to let him die in order to avoid the risk of hex-tech. Jayce seems to often forget that they should be equals and takes most of the credit despite doing less work. Viktor brought himself up from poverty alone. And now, on the verge of death, he finds himself being (mostly) alone again. It’s not surprising that he wants to use his life’s work to keep charging forward, even without Heimerdinger or Jayce. His storyline has just been amazing and it’s the one leaving me on the edge of my seat until the last act. He’s such an underrated character.
I don't think Heimerdinger is willing to let Viktor die if it will prevent Hex tech. When Heimerdinger found out about Viktor's condition he sympathized with him and wished things were different admitting that Viktor's brilliance yet short life was a story he had seen many times before. It's only when they reveal the Hexcore to Heimerdinger that he states that the power is too dangerous even if it could help people like Viktor. Heimerdinger was around during the Rune Wars when mages with the powers equal to that of a Hexcore destroyed whole races and civilizations in their quest for ultimate power. It's not stated in the show but Zaun or the Undercity was actually created because mages wanted to connect two oceans. So they blew up a massive hole in the ground in an attempt to connect the oceans creating the Fissure where the Undercity is located. As a by product of blowing up the earth they released toxic gases that is now the atmosphere of the Undercity. This was the result of mages just doing a "civil works project" imagine what they would do for war, now imagine if just anybody could wield that power. Piltover was actually founded by Heimerdinger in rejection of the mages and that is why the city focuses on science and non-magic advancement. As a society they are a blatant rejection to the power hungry and warmongering mages of the old world. It makes sense that Heimerdinger wouldn't want any chance of a power as vulnerable to abuse as Hextech to exist within the city as it mirrors magic. Again especially when the city itself was founded as a sanctuary from abuse of such power.
@@Mardello1 I don’t think Heimerdinger is “wrong” for wanting to stop their project. I’m just saying that from Viktor’s perspective, it makes sense that he feels abandoned by him. Obviously the hex-tach is dangerous, but Viktor sees it as a way to save himself and others, so that’s why he says “it you want to change the world, you don’t ask for permission”.
You’re right. And what’s worse, he’s constantly surrounded by people who are unintentionally elitist and uncaring towards people from the Undercity. You can see how much it stings him to hear everyone around him talk down about where he came from and ignore their awful living conditions.
Viktor is definitely the most well written, deep, and interesting character of the entire show. If the central plot wasn't about Vi and Jinx (the other most well written and portrayed character of the show), I could totally picture Viktor as Arcane's main character.
@@SCharlesDennicon He's one of the characters with the most tragic background (being sick and handicapped ever since he was a kid, despites his precocious genius intellect and potential, I'd say he's starting even lower than Vi and Powder, who despites being from Zaun too and being orphaned early on, are still healthy enough to kick asses, and raised by a loving foster father like Vander), and despites all his goodwill and genuine will to make a change to the world, there is also a darker part of him that wants to progress in his research in order to save himself. Seeing him succeed the first time, then being able to start to run, and actually going faster than a boat (which is a parallel to what he couldn't do in his chldhood, racing with his own little boat) shows that his character arc is growing, and you can't help but feel that even if his research looks dangerous, you feel for the guy, that maybe he can finally avoid his sad fate... Until, having got lost too far in his research and his obsession, his experiment kills the only person who's loved him ever since his childhood, teaching him the most cruel lesson of the whole show. He's the character who started the lowest, to slowly climb up to the highest... only to fall to an even lower pit ! Talk about a massive character arc swing ! Characters arc usually go from low to high, but his swing was so wild he fell even lower than he was at the beginning ! He even tries to kill himself... but is saved by his best friend in the exact same way, and the exact same words he himself said to save his friend from the exact same predicament years ago. Also, all the absolute best lines of the show are either said by him (if you want to change the world, don't ask for permission), or said to him (it's a sad truth that the people who shine brightest often burn fastest), and then him saying: In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good (THE line that cuts the deepest of the entire show !). THAT, my friend, is what I call not good writing, but amazing writing !
Viktor is on my mind 24/7 and I can't help it! He's so well written and you can't help but love and pity him, but also look up to him because he never gives up. Viktor literally deserves the world!
Spoiler alert After finishing the series, he quote "In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good" Which may be the saddest yet most powerful thing he could have said that summarizes the series.
"we lost ourselves, we lost our dream. In pursuit of great, we failed to do good" ep 9 released today and the reason I'm up all night. Victor best boi :
This. I know the main spotlight of the show is probably gonna be Vi and Jinx but I think Viktor's character arc and development is actually the most interesting at least for me.
Victor and Vi are my favorite characters at the moment of this comment, they both have lived the horrible life of the underground(vi is still living it) yet each have prevailed through all the obstacles. Victor has suffered physically while vi has suffered mentally being that she lost her family and watched her only father figure die in front of her. While Victor feels his body wither away each day, yet still chooses to keep going even tho everyone tells him to stop but he knows if he stops, his tomorrow’s will dwindle. Arcane is a awesome show and I hope for more seasons in the future
@@Brunaulf I hope there will be two short fragments of each thread. I want to see yasuo too, but I also want akalit and shent, and we’ve forgotten a lot of everyone off the list. For the riot, it’s a finished gold mine with a fine and upcoming story. I hope you won’t have to wait years for everything.
Viktor also suffers mentally. He killed someone who he then realized loves him and adores him and Viktor also once attempted to commit suicide. He was a loner ever since he was little and was physically weak that he could not run like the other kids. He in fact suffers more than Vi and Jinx, he's got no partner nor someone who supports him besides Jayce, however Jayce takes the light and he's always behind him standing on his shadow only wanting to be recognized by his skills and goals and to live longer. He suffers both mentally and physically, you knowing that you don't have enough time in this world will surely depress you.
I really love Viktor. His backstory and goals are really compelling. People sympathize on someone that only wanted to extend his own life to help other people. It's sad knowing what would happen to him in the game.
This is a bit of a simplification. Viktor does want to help people but the narrative hasn't explicitly told us if he wants to help for the sake of helping, or if it's a bit more selfish, in that he wants to help people so that he is remembered in history. To me it looks like the reason he refuses to die not because he wants to help people but because he hasn't left a mark in history yet. Improving lives through inventions is just the medium to achieve that.
@@GeneralPet I see that but I think its a mix of both. My interpretation is that his main goal is to improve society and in turn help people but he also wants to leave a mark and will possibly go a little too far in trying to achieve those goals.
@@GeneralPet We have seen how he clearly doesn’t really value being credited. He doesn’t want to go down in history, he wants to contribute to society. All of his life, he has been a poor cripple in the shadows, wishing he could matter for something bigger than himself. His motivation isn’t to be popular or remembered favorably, but to not feel incapable anymore. The route he chooses to leave an impact with his life is a selfless one- to improve the lives of others so they don’t have to go through the pain and suffering he has endured his entire life. It’s heartbreaking, inspiring, relatable, and horrifically tragic. I don’t even think he is trying to stay alive for himself. He doesn’t really “live.” He doesn’t seem to enjoy free time or romance or anything of the sort. He is trying to prolong his own suffering at attempt to make something of his life by removing suffering from other people’s lives
@@Flutterblushie To me his desperation and the things he goes through to extend his life doesn’t seem like like something a purely selfless person would do. I could be biased based on my experience but people put more effort in helping themselves than they do in helping others. So the amount of effort he puts into curing himself seems to be motivated by more than just wanting to survive and help people. Maybe Viktor values helping others more than the average selfless person does, as you say, or it’s also unfulfilled ambition. It’s hard to tell for me.
There is a fantastic trade of dialogue between Heimerdinger and Ekko when Ekko shows Heimerdinger the small society he created in the undercity and Heimerdinger asks, "How were you able to accomplish all this, in you short lifespan?!" And Ekko retorts, "You'd be amazed at what people can do when their lives depend on it." And I feel like this isn't just a way to help Heimerdinger grow as a character but also foreshadow what Viktor, Heimerdinger's assistant, will be able to create since his life LITERALLY depends on it.
0:33 Just a small note. But remember, League of Legends is the legends the characters left behind, and the stories that were told about them. It's why Darius and Garen are so much smaller in their cinematics and comics, while being giant beasts on summoner's rift. It's possible that the Viktor we have in game, are the stories the piltover council made up about him and spread, to make Viktor look like the bad guy, and making their own actions seem more just. In history this was done numerous of times to make wars and actions look justifiable. And from what we know, the Piltover council was corrupt even underneath Heimerdinger's watch[even if he wasn't aware]. So it's very much possible the same was done to Viktor.
@@WitheringAurora yeah, really well put. It's actually historically known as othering. It's where you dehumanise a person or race inorder to justify your atrocities towards them, exactly like you said. It was employed primarily by slave trading civilizations such as Rome and the British empire.
Viktors goals are understandable, he wants to improve himself and escape an early death and in turn, you can see how he gets to his conclusion of having everyone undergo what he did as it helped him. You can see early on that Jayce is going to be more distant from Viktor, and by the time Jayce realizes he's pushed his friend away, it'll be too late.
I think the even sadder part of it all is that hes not trying to prolong is life just so he can live. He's doing it because he wants to have enough time to make a big enough impact to really help, not just a few people, but the world.
@@AmocideB Exactly, his goals in Arcane are understandable and easy to relate to. Heim predicts it will take Viktor and Jayce a decade to perfect their inventions but Viktor doesn't have that time, so he wants to be able to live long enough to see his dreams come to fruition.
I love that in a way, his later quote criticizes his earlier quote, showing his growth in character and his views about progress. "When you're going to change the world, don't ask for permissions." - Viktor (Episode 2) "In the pursuit of great, we fail to do good" - Viktor (Episode 9)
“Viktor is the best character in arcane besides maybe, maybe vander” 100% my exact thoughts, subbed. Also your voice and demeanor gives me that sarcastic vibe that I can’t help but not like, like Ryan Reynolds, or Patrick Warburton.
I went from thinking viktor was sus, to finding him so endearing, likeable and easy to sympathize with. now I just want to see him smile again. he was so cute and sassy in the first act and now he’s… well :(( but for real idk what they’ll do with his character next, when he was proposing to the council with Jayce in ep 9 he straight up looks like a villain 👀 still love him. but where do we go from here lol
between "when you're going to change the world, dom't ask for permission" and "in the pursuit of great, we failed to do good", viktor really had some of the best lines of the entire series. what an incredible and fascinating character, i love him sm
@@Brunaulf oh my goodness idek how many times I've watched it and had to pause each scene to analyse every single detail. Those animators are absolute gods!!!
After Act 3 Viktor just went from a champion I never used to a man I'm gonna level 7 next I litterally cried when he was throwing dust of that girl and wanted to jump like Jayce wanted before
Just noticed a moment with cards in episode 5. Sevika plays with some dudes and drops two cards at the table, one of which is Magician, that looks just like Viktor's ingame persona. Already cool! But what's even more interesting is the Death card, as in Tarot (which yes, was used for playing before ending up as a fortune telling device) Death doesn't actually means death (there's another card for that) but rebirth, start of a new cycle. A cool little moment of symbolism and foreshadowing.
@@Brunaulf I was just rewatching some scenes, noticed it, got OH SHIT moment and then proceeded to run around like crazy talking about it to anyone who'd listen 😂 God, it's so good. I'm gonna ask Santa for a whole LOL cinematic universe.
@@Brunaulf Really? I've never played this type of games before, but I'll totes give it a try! Researching the lore now, there's so much to unpack. Goldmine of quality content. As for Arcane, I'll probably learn the whole thing by heart by the end of the next week.
Viktor is kinda revolutionary, he act like every revolutionary before, he has his dream and work hard for it. "You always knew you be the one who work when they all play", he work not just for him but for everyone, both poor and rich people. Rich people in Piltover will never pay attention to his dream and call him a crazy guy but we all understand why did he do that and think that
"There is no truth in flesh, only betrayal. There is no strength in flesh, only weakness. There is no constancy in flesh, only decay. There is no certainty in flesh but death."
As much as I do like Mel as a character one thing that makes me a bit made is that she invited Jayce to be a council member but not Viktor when Viktor did just as much work for Hextech if not more. He might have rejected it but he still should have gotten the offer
I mean, Powder getting psychotic after a royal fuckup is a spectacle. But then Viktor comes across and just steals the show. Can't wait to see what becomes of him.
What I like most about viktor is the realistic aspect of pursuing your dreams (or the "grindset"). Despite being an absolute genius and very hard working he is constantly hold back by it's origins. It reflects perfectly how the odds are staked against you when you come from a lower class. One lesson that can be learned from viktor is to stay realistic when pursuing your dream. You might work hard, but working hard is sadly not everything. There are things out of your control. Some obstacles can't be overcome, no matter how hard you work. And as we already know how viktor ends, we know that he doesn't get what he deserves. On the contrary, he will probably be pursued and hated in the public eye and will not get the credit he deserves for his work. It's unfair and it sucks, but realistic stories like this make show so good.
@@nholanl1952 I relate to Viktor for the reasons you say, I relate the hextech dream to my dream on youtube. There are huge obstacles, and I never was the best at this from the start, but i put my head down and grinded. its paying off, but im getting more and more hate, people people calling my channel trash, people telling me to stop. Whenever you do anything worthwhile, there will be tragedies... there will be huge losses, just like what viktor had, but this can grow you into a leader. Chase your dream bro, you are a wise man.
Spoilers for act 3: One thing I noted was that Viktor never made better security precautions while doing his experiments, probably because he never expected anyone to check on him or take care of him. Even if Sky could unlock his door you'd think he'd take even more caution. But he does not, he feels that no one believed or cared for him. When Sky burst into the room it was the realisation that someone still cared for him and now they were gone by his hand because he didn't care for them.
I love Viktor he is one of my favs. I haven't played LOL but I loved Arcane. Viktor is such an interesting character and he also has some hilarious lines or reactions to things
Quats from arcane: everyone who have a quat to add juat reply bellow: 1. "When you are going to change the world, dont ask for premission" 2. "People want not only the things they need to survive, but also the things they need for living"
"We lost ourselves. Lost our dream. In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good." "Nature has made us intolerant to change, but fortunately, we have the capacity to change our nature." Also foreshadowing Viktor's future: "I must warn you. If you take this path, they will despise you. Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress." I can't wait to see what happens.
Viktor: “I have determination, ambition, talents, thirst of health and life amelioration. What do you have?” Jayce: “A sexy physique and a pretty face”
When he stole the Book I thought he was going to be an enemy. But when Jayce didn't continue open up the HexCore? Viktor was disappointed and I believed Viktor wasnt a bad guy
I started watching Arcane without knowing that Viktor will appear. When I first saw him I was almost crying, he's my favorite champ from LoL since a long time ago, and now, watching him "alive" and his new lore makes me so nostalgic and happy. You'll be always legendary Viktor!
What I really love about this show is that they give more depth to the characters. In-game voicelines and stories can only do so much. Now, there's actually more to a character that the game could never have delivered. I hope they eventually change the characters in-game as well because after seeing such compelling versions of the characters in the show, the game version's pale in comparison (especially when all Vi talks about is punching things and what Vi stands for). Its great that they're rewriting a lot of lore to be more interconnected and fleshed out. Majority of characters original lore basically got changed, and for the better. If Riot ever decides to do another animated series after Arcane I hope its Shurima. Shurima is just so full of history that they could flesh out.
A lot of people are hating that they are rewriting the lore, but I think its great just like you. The story is on another level. I would love to see shurima, but PANTHEON would be so good to see too, everything involving targon and the solaria/lunari! So so good! Thanks for watching, I appreciate you so much!
before arcane i didn’t really notice or care about viktor (probably bc in game hes mega outdated) but now i absolutely love him and he needs a visual and voice line update asap
Viktor never felt like just an assistant to Jayce... Jayce genuinely wanted Viktor to partake equally in the recognition. Viktor willingly chose to remain behind the scenes, and was happy to do so. Work itself is the only thing that mattered to him.
I think he remained behind the scenes because his health also, and jayce cared about his health in the council meetings so he took charge. Viktor didn't want to go out on stage "Like this".
@@Brunaulf Absolutely. He didn't want his condition to not only dibilitate himself, but Jayces reputation as well. Ultimatly, Viktor never seemed bothered by not being in the spotlight like Jayce. Viktor just cared about his work making an impact for the better before he died. Also, you never blamed or hate Jayce for it either. The writing of his character was so well done that typically you would end up hating a guy like him, but in the end, you just don't. You understand where both characters are coming from and why they do what they do.
Hes maybe only character thats its own ideals and dreams didn't changed through the season one. And its a good thing. Silco and Viktor was my favorite characters of the series.
In defense of Jayce here, he insisted Viktor to show himself to the public, and he was not interested in taking the credit of his job; but Viktor just refused to be shown in the speechs and public ceremonies
@@Brunaulf That was a surprise for me. I was expecting Jayce to be stubborn and haughty, but no, he's just a little vain; and he really is a good friend, and he shows that he cares for Viktor: - Defend him in front of Mel - He wants to share the credit with him. - They do all their jobs together. - He came to him as soon as he knew that his state of health was serious, and he stayed with him during the coma. -In the end he betrayed Heimer, because he was opposed to the only thing that could save his friend; and he even says that his purpose was to find a way to save him, so he already knew what was happening to Viktor.
I have a theory that after the rocket blows up viktor is gonna be heavily injured and is gonna be dying then jayce will try to save him by replacing maybe viktor's heart with the hexcore to keep him alive then replace the destroyed body parts with mechanical ones and thats how viktor turns out the way he does
If you look at Arcane, half the main characters/champions are literally genius inventors: Jinx, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Jayce, Viktor, Singed... Okay, that's it, but there really aren't that many main characters outside of those six lol.
Really, what made Viktor my favorite was that he walked a thin line between inspiring and tragic, with neither aspect of his character feeling alien to the other. At one minute, you'd hear "When you're about to change the world, don't ask it for permission." The next, you see him trying to overcome his disability which sadly leads to the death of a woman he didn't know had feelings for him.
I think this is why this storyline is so good. It proposes a moral dilemma: Victor gone out of his way to help Jayce as they had the same ideals. However, Jayce was easily manipulated and turned to the easy ways, playing the field of politics and power. Ultimately Victor is still true to his goal but with the normal channels shut off and he is running out of time he had to turn to less... savoury ways and means to gain the necessary knowledge. I think he becomes part machine since he has no time to worry about his physical condition when so much is at stake, he is just absolutely absorbed into his work to bring a better tomorrow for others. True this single minded approach can be frightening to some but in a way he is a living embodiment of "the end justifies the means".
I hope Viktor gets a respectable character arc and doesn't become a straight out villain. It might seem like his lack of safe practice, as suggested by heimer, is his downfall, but its only because he wanted to leave a legacy before his body failed.
I’m making a prediction that by the end of season 2 we’re gonna hate Victor’s guts. I just get the feeling we’re gonna get that sort of gut wrenching storytelling
No one can comprehend how much i love Viktor he is the best and the most misunderstood character hands down his arc is my favourite, also i didn't know his lines in the game were that old i don't play it but i saw some i really hope they will give him a new design that matches the show, thank you so much for this video i love it 😭❤️
Bold words from someone with a Jayce hairstyle 👀 I kidd, but for real Viktor had always been one of my favorite champions in league, lore-wise. He's always given me that "Just because I'm the "bad guy" doesn't mean I'm a bad guy" vibes. I mean my man found a kid snooping around his apartment and he shared the kid a glass of his favorite drink, sweet milk. He also called a goddess "fart face". How can you not like this dude? Upset about your eye problems? homeboy, visit Viktor, he'll fix your eyes AND turn you into a cyborg my guy.
He is my favorite character of the show. So interesting and a good person, yet not flawless or perfect. Just human. And I think he has quite an epic evolution.

His accent and quirky personalities in Act I makes him really attractive. Then we witness his backstory and the fact that most likely that he's going to become a machine kinda sadden me. He is not evil, but i wish he would've stayed 'human' in the finale.
Its so tragic, and it breaks my heart, but that makes him an amazing character.

@BAGHDAD Looking at it another way, though, it's kind of like Anakin Skywalker. It's not about what he becomes - we know what he becomes. It's about how he got there.
It reminds me of anakin in episode 3
One cool thing is Heimerdinger's introductory scene, where he visits Jayce in the holding cell and remarks on prison "holding the body captive while the mind is still free." What's so cool about that line is that it is literally Viktor's story. He has a brilliant free mind, while is body is held captive by sickness.
Holy crud you are right, thats actually so inspirational
I always knew viktor was a misunderstood character in league, often overshadowed by Jayce's appealing side. Thanks arcane for the new lore.
I am on the edge of my seat for act 3 dude
Tell me your thoughts on jayce, im in the process of making a script of a video on why hes an amazing character, but hes misled

Bro why this comment give me chills? I didn’t even see it that way. What the heck.
@@ChapterMasterDandy thats an amazing catch dude, really really neat!

Viktor in game needs a rework
@@Brunaulf I wished he has a good splashart like what he has in Lor
100% underrated. I had to make this video to do him justice. I look up to him lowkey.
If viktor stoled and equipped ekko time gadget gg
You’re right. And what’s worse, he’s constantly surrounded by people who are unintentionally elitist and uncaring towards people from the Undercity. You can see how much it stings him to hear everyone around him talk down about where he came from and ignore their awful living conditions.
Viktor is definitely the most well written, deep, and interesting character of the entire show. If the central plot wasn't about Vi and Jinx (the other most well written and portrayed character of the show), I could totally picture Viktor as Arcane's main character.
100% he coulda had a sub show with all of him growing up and stuff in zaun. Hes epic.
Vi and Jinx are the most boring main characters. I prefer Viktor and Silco and I am much interested in their story.
@@bilyanaconsulova405 how tho? Just because you like a character more doesnt mean the rest are boring
What makes him the MOST well written and deep according to you?

Arcane blew my mind im gonna start to play lol again
Victor and Vi are my favorite characters at the moment of this comment, they both have lived the horrible life of the underground(vi is still living it) yet each have prevailed through all the obstacles.
Victor has suffered physically while vi has suffered mentally being that she lost her family and watched her only father figure die in front of her. While Victor feels his body wither away each day, yet still chooses to keep going even tho everyone tells him to stop but he knows if he stops, his tomorrow’s will dwindle.

I really love Viktor. His backstory and goals are really compelling. People sympathize on someone that only wanted to extend his own life to help other people. It's sad knowing what would happen to him in the game.
I freakin love viktor
YOOOO THATS BIG

"In a pursuit of great, we failed to do good" - Viktor
It's so powerful my man!
I'm in love with viktor
I'm in love with yo... viktor.. viktor is what I was going to say.
"There is no truth in flesh, only betrayal. There is no strength in flesh, only weakness. There is no constancy in flesh, only decay. There is no certainty in flesh but death."
Powerful quotes fr
"When you are trying to change the world, don't ask for permission."
I generally say "It's better to ask forgiveness than permission."
Thats freaking sick bro, i love your quote :)
As much as I do like Mel as a character one thing that makes me a bit made is that she invited Jayce to be a council member but not Viktor when Viktor did just as much work for Hextech if not more. He might have rejected it but he still should have gotten the offer
Do you agree? :)
Couldn't agree more. Every time Viktor is in whatever scene he is at, everything he says just had so much weight. True convictions in his beliefs
Absolutely I love that man
I mean, Powder getting psychotic after a royal fuckup is a spectacle.
But then Viktor comes across and just steals the show. Can't wait to see what becomes of him.
yes
@@andreyls9136 what an absolute megachad simga you are also. Appreciate your comment :)
"everyone one of us need to get the mindset that he has" which is of course "Sigma male grindset"
Hextexh millionaire my friend
@@nholanl1952 the same people that are telling me to end my life now, will see me on their homepage in a few months. Im sure of it.
Sigma memes aside I trully like his mindset
Spoilers for act 3:
One thing I noted was that Viktor never made better security precautions while doing his experiments, probably because he never expected anyone to check on him or take care of him.
Hes fully mechanical and a maniac in LOL
The farther I got into Arcane the more I realized that Viktor was my favorite story arc.
So true
I cant see how he turns into a GLORIOUS EVOLUTION!!! Type of guys he's so PURE and KIND HEARTED. He has a heart of a HERO.
100%, even after the finale i am unsure!
Quats from arcane: everyone who have a quat to add juat reply bellow:
1. "When you are going to change the world, dont ask for premission"
2. "People want not only the things they need to survive, but also the things they need for living"
Hes so cool!
"We lost ourselves. Lost our dream. In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good."
"Nature has made us intolerant to change, but fortunately, we have the capacity to change our nature."
Also foreshadowing Viktor's future: "I must warn you. If you take this path, they will despise you. Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress." I can't wait to see what happens.
his running scene is the best of all the show
100%, tears bro
Best character up until now
100%
I'm in love with Viktor now
Me too bro
I don´t need a video telling me Viktor is the best character in Arcane. But I´ll wach regardless just for reaffirmation
You are a boss my man
Man, we can all sympathise Viktor, he’s a great man.
True
After watching arcane, his weird laser thingy makes sense now
Lol yes it does!
Viktor: “I have determination, ambition, talents, thirst of health and life amelioration. What do you have?”
Jayce: “A sexy physique and a pretty face”
😂
Maybe that cliffhanger from the last episode will become the catalyst for Viktor to truly embrace the power of the hexcore.
I think the magic corruption will start to take over his body so he HAS to replace his parts with machine.
i love viktor so much and it makes you sad when you know how he turns out
JOIN THE GLORIOUS EVOLUTION!
INFERIOR CONSTRUCTS!
Such praise~
I'm truly flattered
It's truly an honor to meet you
@@Brunaulf hope we get a project victor skin in lol
When he stole the Book I thought he was going to be an enemy. But when Jayce didn't continue open up the HexCore? Viktor was disappointed and I believed Viktor wasnt a bad guy
Viktor still doesn’t seem like a bad guy fr
when he started running by the pier for the first time , it was as emotional as the end of act 1
It inspired me so much to be honest
Viktor is gunna be so sick in arcane 2 I can't wait
I can’t wait either bro
Riot really hit the jackpoint with Viktor development
100%
Viktor is Roy Batty! And I'm loving it
Victor nearly dying in the lab:
Jayce and Mel: 🐇🐇
Mother of god lol
I love using viktor in league and also his lore, Learning his story in Arcane made me love him even more!
Its so cool to find out more about our favorite champs!
@@Brunaulf Powder turned into Jinx , Sky turned into Powder... I'll see myself out.
I started watching Arcane without knowing that Viktor will appear. When I first saw him I was almost crying, he's my favorite champ from LoL since a long time ago, and now, watching him "alive" and his new lore makes me so nostalgic and happy. You'll be always legendary Viktor!
Hes the absolute best! I just did a video on jayce too!!
at this point,Viktor needs a voiceline rework
And with the same voice actor as in arcane
@@Brunaulf well season 2 is in production and it is a continuation of the story (but now with van... oh sorry i meant warwick).
@@x_Degurechaff_x i have a video on that ;)
before arcane i didn’t really notice or care about viktor (probably bc in game hes mega outdated) but now i absolutely love him and he needs a visual and voice line update asap
They need to make arcane viktor voice act league viktor, he is so well voiced in the show
Viktor never felt like just an assistant to Jayce... Jayce genuinely wanted Viktor to partake equally in the recognition. Viktor willingly chose to remain behind the scenes, and was happy to do so. Work itself is the only thing that mattered to him.
Watch my jayce video!
The whole season i was only watching for Victor he is just the Best
Bro thats a sick profile pic. I love it
you were so spot on on Viktor character you must have been pleased by his evolution. a glorious one.
Thanks so much, im pleased with this comment almost as much as the glorious evolution
Viktor is a man of focus, commitment and sheer fuckin will.
One could say… hes a mega swag lord baller sigma male hextech millionaire mindset megachad booty monger.
"If you're going to change the world, don't ask for permission."
Enough said.
Hes maybe only character thats its own ideals and dreams didn't changed through the season one. And its a good thing. Silco and Viktor was my favorite characters of the series.
I really liked vander, he was a baller
here's my favorite Arcane's quote , wich come from singed speaking to viktor : " Loneliness is offently a by product of a gifted mind"
In defense of Jayce here, he insisted Viktor to show himself to the public, and he was not interested in taking the credit of his job; but Viktor just refused to be shown in the speechs and public ceremonies
Oh ima do a video on that misled megachad of a guy, just you wait. I love that man.
@@Brunaulf That was a surprise for me. I was expecting Jayce to be stubborn and haughty, but no, he's just a little vain; and he really is a good friend, and he shows that he cares for Viktor:
- Defend him in front of Mel
- He wants to share the credit with him.
@@user-yj6gp1zt3x is it okay if I use some of your points in my video about jayce? You have something here…
@@Brunaulf Go ahead, no need to give creedit
They say... Hex before Sex u know...
Püssy is Temporary... Hextech is Revolutionary
loooool
just make viktor the main character already
My theory is the next season he becomes more like the games, more mechanical due to the ending
I have a theory that after the rocket blows up viktor is gonna be heavily injured and is gonna be dying then jayce will try to save him by replacing maybe viktor's heart with the hexcore to keep him alive then replace the destroyed body parts with mechanical ones and thats how viktor turns out the way he does
You 100% could be right man. Thats plausible.
That'd be a VERY interesting twist on his backstory!
@@Brunaulf and that could be what separates them because Viktor would rather die than rely on the hexcore (at least right now) just a theory.
@@x_Degurechaff_x true bro true
Mmmm, not likely - Cool idea, but Viktor has the Hex Core on his staff. It's his whole thing.
If you look at Arcane, half the main characters/champions are literally genius inventors: Jinx, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Jayce, Viktor, Singed... Okay, that's it, but there really aren't that many main characters outside of those six lol.
Welp, i guess the great minds are the focus of the city AND the show!
I mean, even Vi, Caitlyn, Silco and Mel are prodigies/geniuses in their own fields of expertise lol.
@@Azrael79a 100%, street smarts on some of these characters like vander can be more important than actual smarts too, so they count in my book :)
Viktor:
Relinquish the flesh.
Embrace progress.
Very aggressive lol
Viktor, Jinx and Silco are my favorite characters lol
They are set up amazingly
His friendship with Jayce is actually beautiful
100%, its just unfortunate that all friendships can end no matter how good :(
This video has me feeling optimistic of the future. You've changed my life with your take on this. You have my sincere gratitude.
You can do anything you set your mind to. I believe in you. Watch my pierce through stone video and let me share a lil more wisdom.
I hope Viktor gets a respectable character arc and doesn't become a straight out villain. It might seem like his lack of safe practice, as suggested by heimer, is his downfall, but its only because he wanted to leave a legacy before his body failed.
We can see the outcome right now! The finale is out!
@@Brunaulf damn didnt know that was the finale, meant after this point
We need more disabled characters like him that aren't innocent angels nor villains but a mix.
Yeah Viktor and Powder/Jinx are my favourites

Welp that’s disgusting loooool
Viktor is my best boi.
I want a prequel with young Vander.
That would be so good
I’m making a prediction that by the end of season 2 we’re gonna hate Victor’s guts.
I just get the feeling we’re gonna get that sort of gut wrenching storytelling
No one can comprehend how much i love Viktor he is the best and the most misunderstood character hands down his arc is my favourite, also i didn't know his lines in the game were that old i don't play it but i saw some i really hope they will give him a new design that matches the show, thank you so much for this video i love it 😭❤️
Thank you so much for watching
Bold words from someone with a Jayce hairstyle 👀
I kidd, but for real Viktor had always been one of my favorite champions in league, lore-wise.

I love him the moment i saw him stopped jayce from jumping and i regret reading his lore lol :"D he deserves better

He is my favorite character of the show. So interesting and a good person, yet not flawless or perfect. Just human. And I think he has quite an epic evolution.
Viktor is our glorious leader, whom will give us the glorious evolution.
