  • A friend of the family asked me if I could make her a set of cornhole boards to play at her birthday party next weekend. Mission accepted!
    Next time, I think that I will make the easy version....

    Nice job the boards look great! just for future reference.... if you cut your top and bottom 2x4's at 22 and a 1/2 instead of 24 inches and put them in between the side 2x4's you won't have to add that little tiny filler piece of plywood where your rabbit cut came to the outside edge of the frame. You just have to make sure you make the rabbit cut on the correct edge of each 2x4 and youll have a continuous rabbit for the plywood the lay on. Other than that...GREAT JOB. THERE BEAUTIFUL!

      Thanks! If I read this correctly, I would then have to cut the side pieces longer and then wouldn't I still have to fill in the gap on the long one instead of the short one?

    • @MyCubanoLibre
      @MyCubanoLibre 4 роки тому

      It would be the same, you will still have one of the sides, the long or short sides showing the gap, for it not to show you would have to stop the saw cut 1.5" from either end and square it with a chisel, or like i do on mines, assemble the box and cut the rabbet with a router and a rabbeting bit all around the frame, i cut the top to fit the round corners, it looks classy, but i will experiment with stopping the cut on the table saw, it sure is faster and with much less dust.

      Or like you see on other videos, cut it the same way all to the end and then miter the corners.

      @@MyCubanoLibre - yeah, why are we not using the miter saw to cut miters?!?

    I like your method. Looks a lot simpler then others I have seen. Like how you cut the Angle for the legs. I have seen where people were getting so intricate. I didn’t think it had to be that difficult. Do you have all the measurements you can send? And what size bolts and drill bits you were using. They look Awesome Nice Build! James Barlow

    In the middle of my first build should i sand my stain before applyin apolycrylic or no

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  5 років тому

      If it feels rough, then I would lightly sand it with some 220 grit sandpaper. Very, very lightly.

      The same thickness as the plywood. Right around 3/4" x 3/4". Thanks for watching!

    I was gonna talk crap and say to much work and detail for a board with a hole. But seeing the finished product I see why

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  6 років тому +2

      Thanks, I think... There are a million videos out there on how to build the simple ones so I wanted to make mine a little better. It's also a little more fun putting some detail into a project every once in a while.

  • @sarcASStic79
    @sarcASStic79 Рік тому

    The guy at Lowes... ugh. If u ripped the ply in half lengthwise at 24", kept them together, slid them back on the track to 408", you'd have much more accurate 2'x4' pieces them the way he did it. You typically don't have that much extra with 3 cuts bc of the kerf of those blades.

  • @Msigw
    @Msigw 5 років тому

    Ha, this is the most complicated construction I’ve seen yet. I can’t do it, just because when that little custom bit falls out, or gets stuck in the deck screw I lose my mind. Why don’t they make one that you can just chuck up on. Here’s an extra 10 cents a box - just make it longer! Bah.

    • @FunWithWoodworking
      @FunWithWoodworking  5 років тому

      There are plenty of videos out there that show you how to make a basic set of cornhole boards. I made these as a personal challenge to myself. You can make whatever versions fits your skills.

    • @dilyjr
      @dilyjr 5 років тому

      Mark Brophy I hear you on that one but it’s not impossible if anything doing it will make it even more satisfying when your build comes out great

  • @scraplifetrashtocash4551

    Every time u use a power tool I cringe.. U are going to get hit with a major kick back.. When using a Miter saw" Please let the blade come to a Stop before removing the wood.. I watched your earlier table saw Videos too. It only takes one kick back to lose a finger or even your life. Please be more safe with power tools
