It's a crying 😢 shame for Alex not wanting to be friends with his old band mate's Sammy and Michael, who shared great music and touring that us fans will always treasure till end of days.
I am about the same age as Alex and I loved his book. As an old guy, I've learned a lot of lessons in my life, some of them the hard way. The one I would pass along to Al is that holding grudges is a huge source of negative feelings and energy in our lives. Grudges are emotional balls and chains. Al, get right with Sammy and drop the negative shit alongside the road. Learn to forgive.
I think a secret frustration of Alex's is that he is not in the conversation for being one of the top 10 greatest drummers ever. I 100% agree with his frustration, I have seen him live... So much power and energy to fill the pauses between Eddie's guitar perfection. Nobody could every play that well with Eddie, they were bonded at the hip.
Hagar's book effectively finished any contact with the Van Halens. The fact that Anthony played in Chickenfoot etc. with Hagar did not go down well with the brothers, despite Wolfie having already took over bass duties. The strange world of Van Halen.
I'm from this era and a musician. I'm an old school base player with Steve Haris and Getty Lee as my teachers. Even back in the day, there were rumors about Eddie and his alcoholism. Alex was just as, if not worse than Eddie as far as booze goes. It turned two a^^holes into bigger a^^holes. Two of the best musicians in their day, but a^^holes nonetheless...
Should have never aired his brother's dirty laundry in his book and profited from it. I'll bet you a brand-new, shiny dollar, that in Al's eyes, that's an unforgivable sin.
Hagar is a complete joke. He has been trying to make money off of Eddie Van Halen's death. There is a reason radio stations barely play any of the songs he made while in Van Halen. Eddie is dead Van Halen is dead let it go.
Alex ruined his health by abusing alcohol and cigarettes.. The human body can only take so much self abuse....he could still be a great musician but he has a very negative attitude and holds grudges against Sammy and Michael...who seem to be good guys and are out there playing music and pleasing the fans.... Eddie would still be with us and playing music but he also ruined his health and because of his addiction to substances, he made enemies unnecessarily.... Sammy is right in trying to be friends with Alex.....more people should be like Sammy and not take enemies to the grave. God's will is for people to always try to get along and have peace....it is better to let go and let God....if someone insists on hating you no matter what, give it to God... and pray..

Eddie Van Halen should be honored, after all he was not a thing, and Alex should show respect to Sammy and Michael.
This Van Halen stuff takes up 1/2 of UA-cam. It never ends!
😂 it's the longest running soap opera. The debate is almost surpassing the JFK lone gunman debate.
Michael Anthony has never said anything negative about his former band mates. That's cool! 😎👍
Best attitude of any rock and roller I've ever seen. A real team player.
Al and Ed 👍🏻

Alex has been sober and quit smoking since the 80s. He's a vegan. He didn't ruin his health. He fell and broke his back a couple years ago.
