Nice - how big is the plane?
Ok,
F16 - wing span 32 feet, 8 inches - empty weight: 18,900lbs , length 49 feet, 5 inch (single engine)
F35B- wing span 35 feet - empty weight 32,300 lbs, length 51.2 feet (single engine)
F18 - wing span 44 feet, 8.5 inches - empty weight: 32,081 lbs, length 60 feet (dual engine)
So, from above, we see the F35B is larger then a F16, in both wing span, and length, and weight.
And we see that the F35 is smaller then a F18 in both wing span, and length, but rather similar in weight.
A F15 is yet some what larger length, 63 feet, but wing span is shorter then a F18 (42 feet, 9 inches).
Weight of the F15 is higher yet, being a larger aircraft at 34,600 lbs
So, the F18 (being carrier based tends to have a wider wing span and this is required for landing on carriers (better control for cross winds, and lower stall speeds).
So, size wise, the F35B model is somewhat below a F18, but somewhat larger then a F16.
Internal fuel tank size:
F16: 7,000 lbs
F35B 13,250 lbs
F15: 13,455 lbs
F18: 14, 700 lbs
F35A: 18,500 lbs.
So, once again fuel capacity fairs better then the F16 (a lightweight fighter), and again is close to a F15 or F18.
So, F35B is not tiny or small, but the F35 also not really large when compared to say the size of a F15, or even a F18.
So, I would slot the size of the F35B as close to most "mid range" sized fighters, say F18, Rafale, or say a Eurofighter/Typhoon.
Its a bit smaller then some mid range fighters, but the F35 is certainly larger then a F16.
