      This sort of music is part of my earliest memories. I was 5 years old at the time and the radio was always on with the latest pop music. Of course I couldn't understand what the lyrics were about but I could tell the music was good.

      kittyCat Furbabies Bunch of kids 😊....41...42...46.... Yeah. Just wait for your 50's. Y'all were probably pulling the tape out of our cassette tapes and scratching our albums rolling them around on the floor like my little brother and sister did. My precious Boston album. Gone. Album cover was some kinda paper airplane experiment. Boneheads.....Seriously though, I'm glad you guys remember the tunes from those great days.

    Howard Jones was the very first live show I ever saw--at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California, when I was 12--1980. Shortly after, I saw Duran Duran, and the Cure, and was off to a life of hundreds of live shows--heck, maybe thousands.
    I saved every single ticket stub from shows that had tickets, and I recently gathered them together and made several gigantic framed collages that anyone whom visits my home always spends a long time examining. It's a great way to transport oneself back in time, and I can pin down milestones in my life by looking at the date of a particular show.
    But it was Howard Jones that got me started. I can still remember walking out of that show to my friend's mom's car on a cloud of wonderment; never before had I been transported to such nirvana--live music still has that effect upon me. There is something indescribable about the energy you get from hearing music you love being played live in front of a crowd who becomes a single, living, breathing, dancing and shouting organism of collective unconscious. Or just having a cracking good time.

      I had the same feelings of rejection anger and lonliness and i lived at hime with both parents constantly arguing and drinking themselves senseless and when it suited them hitting their kids senseless so i do know where your coming from and i used to hang about with some lads from the kids home near me and went to school with them thats when we wern’t bunking off that is and those times defined who i became in my later adult life and this music is a poignent reminder of those good/bad times and i try to look at every scenario as being a bit of good and bad so try to find the good within the bad ud be amazed at what you learn about yourself

    • @jesss3725
      @jesss3725 3 роки тому

      I understand. Sometimes parents just don’t know what to do with us though. Intelligent, energetic children are HARD on parents, but what a blessing. “Experts” tell our parents to send us away..... Worst possible thing to do. Abandonment syndrome..... If I’d had a kid like myself though, don’t know how I’d deal. The things we went through in kids homes.......

    Music in the 80's was not constructed by the likes of Cowell and co creating for the masses for commercial gain first and foremost. The artists led the business back then and that's why the music was so creative and wonderful.

    I remembered this song because of the video where he's hitting the snare like he does at the beginning. But, I could never remember the song title. At the beginning of August, I got to see him in concert, and he kicked off the show with this song.
    I didn't hear the title or remember if he even announced it. I tried to have Google Sound Search on my phone find it for me, but it wasn't working.
    Days later, while binging HJ here on YT, I found it!
    It was like finding a pearl in the shell (pun intended)!
    The beat is probably what makes this one of my favorites.

"Automatic music machine" was a theme brought up in both George Orwell's work "1984" (as the narrative put it, it made songs for the Proles to sing or hum along to) and another dystopian novel about a society where everyone lives alone (includig parents; they reporduce by taking eggs and sperm out of donors and then doing everything in the lab), in something like a very small studio.

    The Fella from High Wycombe was undoutbably Fucking Mustard. He should be regarded with a lot more than paying Howard Jones' mortgage..as funny as that was. Brilliant Songwriter and Miusician. Thanks H for being You. 👍❤

    Amazing amazing still a perfect summer sound decades later kept off number one by frankie GTH but never the less so uplifting in every way. Oh the memories of the eighties, a lifetime ago. June 2020 😎♥️😎♥️🔥👍
