In that situation, I know, I would order cottage cheese a la mode like everyone else, but I’d only eat the ice cream, and everyone would be like “hey did you eat enough” and I’d just go like “ya, totally” as I’m starving
i was a little worried for them when they started this interaction that could have been extremely transactional, (one of the first things you learn in improv is to avoid settings like grocery stores, restaurants, etc, bc they can be really repetitive and boring) but i shouldn’t have doubted them for a second because it immediately became the most insane bit and i love it very much
I don't know what "a la mode" means but now I feel like I have to use it in everyday conversation, even if (and especially if) it makes no sense in the given context

"a la mode" means "in the fashionable way", so its got a lot of meanings in a lot of contexts! Today its basically only used in America to mean with a scoop of vanilla icecream.
I’ll be honest, I think I laughed harder at this episode than any I have seen in a while. It may not be #1, but it’s definitely not far off. Don’t ask me to rank any, I’d never be able to choose.
