Carving a lion dance from wood and applying gold leaf [Carving]

Please watch the process of carving, coloring, and gold leafing a Kaga lion head using a paulownia wood log from the foot of Mt. Hakusan.
Our workshop was founded 70 years ago. We are the only workshop that specializes in making Kaga lion heads, a traditional craft in Ishikawa Prefecture, with the techniques passed down through three generations of parents and children.
The person making the lion head in the video is Chida Daime, who is currently training to become the third generation.
