This would also completely mitigate all of Jon's problems with printing out all the sizes, because he could have actually cut it to the right size, which would make it easy to follow on the linen

Claire must have been intending to replace her machine, scissors, etc - there's no other explanation of why she'd let a particular egg carton near them.
You only use fabric scissors on fabric to not only keep the edge correct, so you can sharpen them and use them for generations, you also keep the alignment correct. Everyone in my family is terrified of touching the sewing shears or scissors because, not only will they have to replace them, they will come to bodily harm if they damage them.
Don't forget the legal funds for ManyATrueNerd Ltd* after Jon said he couldn't show the pattern due to the legalese in the pattern and ended up displaying all of it! (in not so small pieces, sure, but displayed all of it nonetheless) *: I don't know anything about how the business is set-up (other than they got a separate legal entity), but most British carmakers end with Ltd so that's what I've gone with 😇

The thing about fabric scissors is not that they are special, its that they only cut fabric so they don't dull at the same rate as others.

for those of you who don't follow gift traditions (from english / anglican culture) 8th anniversary would be bronze or linen. So i was super stoked to see the preview image last week of the sewing machine and knowing jon's previous history with linen shirt discussions and attempting skills he doesn't know.
