- If I had to name a favorite sports mascot besides my huge idol, Stanley C. Panther, it would definitely be Gnash! The saber tooth tiger mascot of the NHL's Nashville Predators perfectly combines the fierce look of a very unique mascot species with a friendly, fun-loving character and mixes these two opposing traits like no one else, whether at Predators home games or during one of the over 600 community events he appears in every year! Talk about Smashville!
Gnash's backstory on how he was chosen to serve as the Predators' mascot is also really cool as it originates to a fang and a foreleg bone saber-toothed cat (Smilodon) having been excavated during construction works in Downtown Nashville in the 1970s.
During the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto, I've had the pleasure to be around this cool cat and finally meet him for the first time! As always, it was a special treat to see him interacting with children, delivering smiles, joy and hugs, which is what the magic of mascotting is all about! He was out rather often and very approachable, which was so nice to see and in addition to his appearances after the daily games, he was also present for one of Holly Preston's "NHL Mascots & Friends" book readings. Kudos to the NHL on one of the best Mascot Showdown events to-date!

I love Gnash! Been a fan of him since the 2016 Nashville Predators Postseason!
Panthers fan since 2006 here. Gnash has it all! Really unique species in the mascot world. He could very well be some cool Transformers-superhero-like character. He pulls some of the sickest stunts & skits in the NHL, yet he's very approachable and so sweet with the kids. Also love how the Preds use him for community outreach. He's working a lot of charity and community events, even during the summer - and that deserves our highest respect. In addition to that, huge selection of high-quality, accurate and BIG Gnash plushies through the Preds store. Big kudos to the Preds' mascot program, an all-around well-done job in every aspect!

That tail is a tad suggestive for a predator 😂
Hehe, indeed, that's a bit of an unfortunate detail on a otherwise excellent costume. I think they did this to minimize the amount of kids pulling on the tail, but then again, others, like Stanley C. Panther, seem to do just fine with loosely dangling tails - and I do as well on my fursuits. Never caused me serious issues.
