The video has nighttime footage. The moonlight towers are intentionally kept much dimmer today because the light they put off isn’t needed since there are other lights around.
@@TexasRailfan2008 Actually there are some research incandescent lamps that are as efficient as LEDs recently at MIT.... also low pressure sodium is right up there and has the appropriate light output. Probably the main reason for dimmer running is less maintenance not so much less power use as they should be pretty efficient.
I've heard from a few older Austin musicians people used to play music from the moontower support cables with beer bottles. It was such a loud noise it could be heard across town. I don't know if any of that is true, I can't find one source stating that, but I've heard it more than once from older musicians in Austin. It would make the Live Music Capital moniker even more meaningful if true but it could also be a myth. I've heard some pretty tall tales from musicians in the past that weren't true at all when I researched it, but this one seems intriguing to prove or disprove. Us musicians often love a good story and sometimes an artistic license is used to make a story more interesting. I have no clue of the legitimacy of the claim. But I've heard it off and on during my life. I haven't told anyone the story because I never witnessed it, but it sounds fantastic.
Great video! I was in Austin twice last year and I wish I knew about the moonlight towers though I may have even saw it and not noticed it. Glad you kept them!
No, these guys really didn't. When you fly a drone as much as CK does, you occasionally get birds in the shots. The bird actually appears more than once in the video.
Because this guy gave the name of his brokerage in a whole lot of videos, then opened his own brokerage. No reason to keep the old company name in the videos when UA-cam gives the option to cut a few seconds out.
All the light of the moon with the damage of the sun
That cat prductions somebody’s coming from a certain academy
@@anmoldaglaik hey kids
Technically the light of the moon is the light of the sun so it could be said that it had all the light of the sun with its damage as well
@@scramator9077 moon produce it's own light.
Talk about a win-win.
I bet they hear “party at the moon tower” so much lol
Funny that the moonlight tower in the movie doesn't look anything like the real thing.
Can we... can we see what it looks like at night?

@@DiscoverAustin So, They are just a tourist atraction now
@@jesusramirezromo2037 they completely ruined it, at least keep the carbon arc lamps or convert them to incandescent.

I'd love to see one working, with the original super bright arc lanterns.
That would be cool!
“imagine how many people down there fucking just going at it” lol funny scene

All the light of the moon and all the vision damage of the sun? Talk about a win win
Well, since there was absolutely no man-made light at the time, they were probably okay with it.
I see you are a student of o Nella academy as well

The last time I was in Austin was in 1961. I didn't know about the lights. I wonder of there were in working order then?
No, at that point they were just sitting there unused. The restoration was still quite some time away.

Why are there literally no videos or pictures showing what this crap looks like at night doing it's JOB?
There is nighttime footage in the video. The lights are not kept as bright today since there are many other sources of light in the city.

Sounds like a huge waste of energy
I disagree. First, they don't use much energy. Second, it's a piece of history unique to Austin.
Can you explain why you say that?
