      It's a Japanese shinken. Not a too expensive one. But not a cheap one. Middle range :)

      +Waylight Creations Thank you Ryan ! I really appreciate it. It seems people who don't practice iaido or battodo don't know what it is, which is quite normal 😊 Glad you liked it.

    Is there any way to pay you for the making and shipping of one of these stands? 👀🤔

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  4 роки тому

      It would be possible. But pretty expensive depending on where you live in the world. Shipping fee is my main concern

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  4 роки тому +1

      Where does it say it is? The title is "Making a..." not "how to make a...". And the description of the video start with "This week, I made a...", not "This week, I'm gonna show you how you can make...".
      However, if you pay attention to the video, you can easy understand what I'm doing and do one for yourself.

      +Edgar der Schmied Thank Edgar. Definetly something I want to try and make when I'll have a gas forge 😊

  • @davestrain1762
    @davestrain1762 7 років тому +1

    Very cool Red... After a moment I could tell that you had trained (almost everyone holds a Katana with their hands together if they haven't) then I was hoping to see some strikes from other stances (Kamae) I.E. Te Ura Gasumi or Ko Gasumi no Kamae etc maybe next time ;)
    When I was a kid some of my first builds were a Bokken and two Shinai. Like I said very very cool !

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  7 років тому

      Thank you very much Dave !! I haven't trained in a while, and it was my first cuts for several years. That's probably why the two first weren't very good (a bit to far from the target):) I would have done more cuts with different kamae if I had more than three mats... I will try to buy some more and make another video for you ! :D

    • @davestrain1762
      @davestrain1762 7 років тому

      What did those mats ever do to you? Haha it has been more than several years for me so it was very fun to see... Maybe you'll wear your Keikogi and Hakama in it... I know you have some haha

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  7 років тому +1

      Indeed I have. A blue set for kendo, a black one for kenjutsu and a white one for Iaido and Battodo :)
      Ho and I forgot to say that, I studied Musoshinden-ryu and Seitei-iai, and we never use Te ura Gasumi nor Ko Gasumi no Kamae in these styles. But we have some awesome other stuff ;)

    • @davestrain1762
      @davestrain1762 7 років тому +1

      I still know where my favorite Karate Gi is and I can find my men but sadly that is all I kept besides belts and patches. I had a really nice navy set I wore for Kendo which had this almost invisible blood spatter I could never get out but I thought it was cool so I didn't try too hard :)

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  7 років тому +1

      Haha. Your blood or someone else's ? By the way, here is a link to one of the best demonstration I ever saw. I really love the one at 00:48. Have a look if you're in the mood :) ua-cam.com/video/ihWuLMlmKo8/v-deo.html

    • @RedSmithWorkshop
      @RedSmithWorkshop  7 років тому +1

      +Kjellski Thanks a lot. Tameshigiri is a god way to check if your cuttinf technique is good. But it's quite dangerous. Be sure to practice safely my friend 😊
