That's a great explanation of Comp. Eliminator Class.
Love the 4 and 6 cylinder cars. It's a difficult way to go drag racing but there is an incredible amount of creative thinking in those classes.

Best eliminator in the sport!
Most interesting category with a wide range of engines (4, 6 & V8) in a wide range of vehicles (Street Rods, Super Modifieds, Altereds and Dragsters)
Comp really brings out the racer, so many cool cars, a lot of old Pro Stocks getting recycled! Surprised Butner wasn’t rolling by, oh yeah he’s racing like 5 other classes already haha
Bring back A/FX .... I ran that class back in 1979!
...NHRA refactored then discontinued the class after the 1981 season. My contention was always that it was because of the weight break rule changes made to pro stocks for the 1982 season. We were running quicker and faster than Jenkins, RMS or Glidden at the time and FX was a sportsman category class but in all honesty, We had bigger plants than them.
NHRA currently lists the A/FX class in Comp. Elim. The Indexes are given as 7.45 for the !/4 mile and 4.75 for the 1/8 mile. The National 1/4 mile Record listed as 7.05 seconds but as a "Minimum" rather than as an actual achieved record. I don't know if there are any active cars in the class currently.
Science projects. You better have a PHD to run with these people.
