Der Archaeopteryx ist ein vielseitiger high-end Hängegleiter in Segelflugzeugkonfiguration mit aussergewöhnlicher Steigfähigkeit. Konzipiert ist er für den Fussstart von Berghängen sowie für eine Vielzahl weiterer Startarten wie Gummiseilstart vom Berg oder Auto-, Winden-, Flugzeug-, und UL-Schleppstarts von Flugplätzen. Und neu ist er mit dem einzigartigen schnelladaptiven Elektroantrieb auch eigenstartfähig.
Das neuartige Carbon Gleitflugzeug zeichnet sich besonders aus durch sein minimales Gewicht, den grossen Fluggeschwindigkeitsbereich mit sehr langsamer Minimalgeschwindigkeit, die in allen Konfigurationen gute koordinierte Steuerbarkeit sowie seiner Anpassungsfähigkeit durch die Wölbklappe. Es besticht mit seinem einfachen und sehr gutmütigen Flug- und Stallverhalten.

Yeah, good luck supplying a 10kW BLDC motor with ~25 m² worth of solar panels. 😅
@@houstonhelicoptertours1006 you don't need 10kW for cruise flight, and you definitely don't need to power it directly. You're not going to fly all day.

Very impressive. But I wish the uploader had supplied some more technical information. Such as flight endurance or range on a full charge.
11 min on a full charge, at most 65 mil/hour
I have contacted them and if I remember correctly after taking off and climbing to 500 feet one would have ~ 1 hour of flight time using the electric motor and more by doing what they refer to as “saw tooth” flying, meaning intermittent motor usr.
Love to have one however the regular Joe could not afford one. OHH well...I can can dream.
What's the point. There seems to be no price available so apparently there are none actually for sale. That's a bummer because it looks fun.

Sure, I thought this model was recumbent pedal powered at first. The thing is, to spin a propeller at a rate which would be useful would take much gear reduction and thus require tremendous effort.

Regino bout 100k I think, but that may be because of testing. I'd say upon final release, it will most likely be 10-20k depending on the model
about 110k$ 90k€ plus taxes depending of the destination country. For a 28 glide ratio glider it's very expensive, compared for instance to a Alisport Silent2 electro, 75K and a 1:40 glide ratio

Its made in Switzerland. If you would make it in eastern europe it would probably be 40k, 20k in China, but its made in a country with one of the highest BIPs world wide so its not too bad.

irrelevant. The electric motor is for taking off. It's a sailplane. You don't need the motor for take off from hillsides.
+Trolling Stone Obviously, but when you are flying you can make mistakes an loose height and having a motor is helpful
+Alejandro Venegas Gómez ah... I see. This comes with a parachute... but at low altitude, a little extra juice is going to come in more handy than a chute, huh? I suppose the main limitation to how much battery power one carries would be one's own body weight.
And don't forget the rotor, if you come in by accident it's really important to have enough power to get out.
+Trolling Stone There's solar panels, so if you manage to glide for long enough between using the motor, it has infinite range.

Nah, the cheapest gliders are around 10 grand. You're thinking hang glider cost, but this is considerably more complex.
