Many thanks for sharing this awful experience. It's really helpful. I'll pay extra attention during my trip to SA. Something similar happened to me when I took a tour to Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. Worst mistake ever: Castaways.
Thank you for watching! I hope it helps. While it wasn't the WORST thing to ever happen, it still was a disappointing experience. Many of the reviews on youtube and on review sites don't encapsulate just what it is (and that's going to see animals in a van on a relatively small plot of land). Like I wrote in the video, it's probably great for kids, but not for a solo adult who wants a deeper, meaningful experience. Regardless, you're going to have an AMAZING time in South Africa. But sorry you had to deal with a similar situation in Vietnam--I will avoid based on your warning.
Now what do you think is the position in Masai Mara ,it is also controlled conservancy area's through gates etc ,ie reserves ,somebody has got to control the area's otherwise there would have been no animals left for our kids to experience !
😂😂😂 I have to agree. I used to scratch my head whenever I heard from tourists that they had been to a safari in Cape Town, trying to understand what they meant. Until I found out that this place existed. I think they shouldn’t be allowed to call a big zoo safari. Tourists should get well informed before going to places… it’s not always their fault, though.
Terrible review and video of a great destination. If you knew the country, you would know that most of the safaris are in the north of South Africa. This is the clostest one to Cape Town. Not sure what you were imagining a safari would be like?
And there's the problem, when you say it feels like a zoo! You expected to see wildlife instantly, like a zoo. Unfortunatly nature doesnt work like that. Each day is different to the next.
I know. I thought I was going into a more natural--dare I say--WILD environment... one where wildlife wasn't so readily seen. That's why the zoo aspect of this particular resort was kind of disappointing. Like I wrote in the video, it's all my fault for having the wrong expectations and not doing proper research. :)
As a local who has visited this place, it shouldn't be marketed as a safari. That word is used too loosely to explain this destination. The lions are enclosed in a small area and hand fed. The Elephants are staged to appear at a certain area by feeding them at a certain spot every day. It certainly isnt wild Africa. If you lower your expectations and just want to see an animal out in nature then this is what you going to get. As I said not a Safari destination.
Thank you! Talking to other tourists in Cape Town, they, like me, had no idea what a true "safari" is. And you are so right about expectations, I wish mine would have been way lower for this excursion. lol.

"I don't want my first experience eating ostrich to be from a buffet" fair, fair.
