Whilst you may not think mimi deserves to win, I'm happy mimi won as somebody who has picked up on the ongoing microaggressions being directed towards black people on the show, the double standards social media holds to black people (black women in particular), and the racist trolling. Mimi being the first black woman winning is more significant and meaningful than a couple winning who probably won't even last a year(lets start being honest ciaran and nicole are not lasting a year). She is the first black woman to win love island and represents all the black women that have been mistreated on the show for the past 9 years. I actually feel a little bit emotional that a black woman has finally won the show after all the online racist abuse and mistreatment on the show particularly black women have had to tolerate for the past 9 years. Mimi was the woman that caught the most disrespect this season with Ayo time and time again embarassing her but she still remained poised throughout. And to say that Josh and mimi have had no tests well what about sean and Joey? The two people who would relentlessly humiliate the two of them and would constantly disparage their relationship. And is it so hard to believe that maybe josh didn't entertain anyone else because he genuinely wasn't into anyone else and is a respectful guy. And come on guys, ciaran and nicole are not suited, time and time again they have displayed they cannot communicate properly and do not resolve issues well, she loses her mind over everything and is clearly too insecure to be in a relationship at this moment in time and ciaran is 21, do you really think a 21 year old is going to have the patience for all of that 6 months down the line?

I love Ciaran, but I'm not supportive of the toxic hen packing behaviour of Nicole. joey and sean tried to bully and antognise, Josh and Mimii and I question the characters of those that support bullies. It was so amusing that sean tried to distance himself from Joey's behaviour as soon as Joey left. Also, the hypocrisy of joey calling Mimii out for crawling on the terrace, when he did the same thing with Jessy 🙄 Lastly Demi and Justine, not one of the ex Islanders voted for Mimii and Josh. Take off your biased goggles and re-watch the episode...
I do agree that social media has ruined the show, that people take love island uk too seriously which i think the contestants are extremely aware of by now. The executive producer Mike Spencer even said in a interview recently that storylines/what they choose to air/narratives they run is all based off social media reaction and social media opinion. Which is just so dumb and is so unfair to the contestants themselves, as they're not depicting situations accurately or fairly, certain contestants are getting protected because twitter loves them, it take the entertainment away as they want to protect certain islanders and have specific agendas they want to run based off social media, and the show is moving away from reality and becoming more structured/staged.
The biggest issue this season was casting Joey Essex. Without Joey so many islanders Love Island journey would have been different. Sam would not have been sent home within 24 hours, Samantha may have found a genuine connection, Grace would have coupled up with Omar, and Jessy would have bomb shelled with another boy. I would rather have watched this version of Love Island play out. However, Joey standing in front of the fire pit listening to ex-islanders tell him why his relationship with Jessy won't work, ultimately dumping him from the show one day before the final was poetic justice. Demi & Jasmine, thank you for all your hard work putting together the podcast, especially Demi new born baby and all. The last 4 weeks of the main show may have been a dud but Fire Pit Chat kept on bringing the laughs. Your status as my favourite 1 star podcast remains intact. Catch you next summer, and of course PHINSUP.

I think the vote was close but tipped to Mimii because it is hard for a guy to carry a couple, people just didnt take to Nicole and for a large part of the season felt bad for Ciaran and were hoping he would dump her. Ronnie and Harriett and Uma and Wil would have been in the final with Ciaran and Mimii, that would have been a great final. Joey Essex was the worst thing that happened, when they all walked back there were so many big personalities that could have carried the season. It was the best first week of love island ever, a shame everything that followed was trash! See you next year lol x
Also Love Island USA is in its 6th season, it usually doesnt do well because the americans are just ott fake, however last season there were a couple of real couples and Bergy is still in his couple as well as doing traitors. As much as we love drama we want to see real couples come out of it. More people tuned in this season because of last season, Love Island USA season 5 was what season 3 was to the UK, enough of a buzz to get more people interested then season 4 had record viewing and trending online that made people want to watch the next season (similar to USA season 6) which made UK season 5 the biggest one, so next years USA will be huge

I actually find the US contestants and hosts really uncomfortable to watch and find them disingenuous on the whole - it’s so hard to connect to them. Perhaps that’s a culture thing.
