what people dont realize is that this part of town, especially around this season, has been this busy for years now... just having a couple of authorities in this area could've saved so many lives. This happened because of 2 things. Over crowding with no crowd control and disrespectful people pushing other people in ia big crowd like this knowing someone is bound to get hurt.

The streets had over 100k people the alley was narrow people were going both ways one side started pushing the other they made a game out of it and it ended up being the middle people getting suffocating and others falling over creating a meat box with hundreds of lbs of weight on you it was majority women killed as they have smaller frames they suffocated faster they should have closed off the smaller alleys to large crowds this would have saved many
3.2×45 meters narrow street was packed with more than 1000 people as there were crowds moving up and down at the same time. At some point at upper point someone started call for pushing forward and lower rows screamed "back", so in the middle the meat grinder occurs, witnesses say about people packed in 5-6 layers in the middle, no way to survive. The pressure from above created density at the lower rows of 10 people per square meter, so rescue team could not pull out anyone, they were sort of glued to each other. The upway flow was moving directly from Itaewon station exit 1 (there exits 2, 3 and 4 also, but all took exit 1 direction), and almost noone took u-turn, they followed direction of the narrow street already packed with density above 8 people per sq m. Metro reports say in 2019 there were 97k people attended this event, 20 and 21 event didnt take place, and in 2022 there were more than 130k at Itaewon district and both main streets were overcrowded, and to get from one main street to another everyone just took this narrow passage close the Hamilton hotel.
