I love the way the light plays on the indices of these. The sculptural depth of the dial is fantastic too. It would have been nice to have 1 display, larger too if possible (similar to the B500). If they do that next model year it could be interesting.
I’m afraid they stepped down in quality. That basic stamped caseback looks horrible on a GST. Losing a micro adjust hole is also quite strange. I’ll stick with the B400.
Well the clasp has less microadjusts which I agree is ridiculous, but the watch is lighter and more refined, and better legible on the main model. So not sure why the clasp looks so much worse?
@@ATIWatchReviews I was talking about the case back. The B500 has a very basic stamped case back, while previous GST watches had a nice milled caseback. It might be a detail, but it makes the watch feel less refined. If weight is a serious concern to you, only a resin or titanium watch will do.
Agreed. Refined is usually subtle differences to make something better. No refinement here, just took the old/first g-steel case design and put a gm2100 dial... and made it cheaper (partly why lighter). It seems nothing to do with the other GST-B models except for the carbon core approach.
If you go to the store and compare the left model to the any MTG, you will notice there is no need of buying MTG... These GST-B400 are amazin in details and quality! Also the watch is slim and it can go under shirt sleeve which is awesome for more official wear. Also from all GST models this is the most beautyful
Dave!! I'm a serial flipper and I generally buy and sell 2 or 3 Gs every year. But my 400 with the rubber has stuck around for 6 months and I'm thinking it's a keeper in my 8 watches. A rare keeper. Should I watch your review?? I'm afraid you'll change my mind and I won't love it any more. Superficial but true... are there faults I haven't realised?
Hahaha its a great watch. But check the b500 out! Looks like a great refinement. Agree if you want the resin band one, keep it because the b500 doesn't yet have a rubber band one in the release
Hi Dave, I am thinking of buying the GST400 which comes with resin band. I want to know if the band can later be replaced with a metal band? If yes,any recommendation where to look for the metal band?
Yes they are. You can put the resin on any model and the bracelet on any model. However they both use different connecting pins. You can buy from casio direct or a reseller like watch battery UK
I own all GSTB's including two B400's, the one with the resin band you own and one with a beautiful green bezel that is very legible since it has bright metallic indices. I love the B400's design although the basic one(1A), I agree is not very legible.
Casio 'downgraded' the GSTB collection with the B500's, true, they are more legible but missed some other features. The case looks old similar to the previous GSTW line. The pushers are "bald", also like the previous GSTW's instead of decorated like the ones in every GSTB. Finally they eliminated the quick release functionality included on the B300's & B400's, true they are no so "easy to change" on the bracelet, but I love to interchange bands. Anyway, as a G-Shock fan, I'll be buying a B500 soon or later. ~Resistance is Futile~😎
Got the b400 today and what I really don't like is you can't see the seconds or date digital displays unless you press the light really sad about this they are so dark it's ridiculous so be warned....
I've just responded to this on the other video. I also said it's the stealthy version that you bought. You need to buy the green or imported black version that I have other vids about
@@ATIWatchReviews No I did get the black with white hands version, don't get me wrong it's a lovely watch but if you could read / see the digital display all the time without the light it would an amazing watch... All the best
Somehow not impressed with the new design. The GM2100 dial layout with the old g-steel case and bezel design doesn't do it for me... Plus seems like cheaper design elements to lower the cost. Will stick with my B400 on resin. The case design and bezel are so much nicer and futuristic looking. Seems like they went back in time, in a bad way. The indices are subtle on the B400-1A, but this makes it more versatile and more wearable daily unlike sporty flashy indices. The white emphasis on the top edge of the indices are sufficient to make it easily readable imho. Yet style and taste are subjective and we all buy them for different reasons as well :). Enjoy the new B500! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
@@maxlee9 I just received the B600, it’s more like a normal sized non-G shock watch, the lack of battery indicator does bother me much, but the negative lcd display is really hard to see. Other than that, it’s a pretty cool watch.
@@ATIWatchReviews I recently purchased the matte black GBA-900, which I am very happy with.. but the GST rubber has all the aspects of that, plus a glorious metal case, and it's thinner.. Casio take my money!🤑
I always liked the gold ones better than than stainless-steel bracelet. If there is too steep pricing for gold plated ones I'll get steel one which perform same as usual g shock. In terms of legibility this model is much better
Absolutely and that's the main reason I will likely sell on my two b400s. HOWEVER, I could have got the green or black japan variant of the b400 which was far better legibility. maybe I will do anyway eventually

OOo nooo!!! Selling these amazing watches! I love mine. I have the one on the left.
the edifice line is also a looker.

The case back looks cheaper not milled like on the 400
For me, GST B400 so far is still the best design. But unfortunately the dial color level for the stainless steel version is so bad.
Yes but it's been corrected with this year's release... Check out the b500-1a. The legibility is great
Get yourself a GST-B400XD.
Very legible, silver markers and silver hands.👍

Great value
so, if you get the Japanese version of the B400, the indices are better?

What do you think about the b600 that has just released I believe in 2024? Even more refined…
I’m considering getting a b400 or the latest b600, for my wrist 7.5inch I’ll go for b400, and it has the battery level on dial which is better ..

It's a cracker. My recommendation is the rubber band version
