A very interesting and informative discussion of Coriolanus and Shakespeare. Thank you Stratford Festival for making this available.

    Fantastic interview!
The initiative taken by the Stratford Festival, the National Theatre and The Globe to upload for free on UA-cam a series of Shakespeare's plays deserves a big applause. In my case, being a Spaniard, I came to know of the existence of the Stratford's Festival thanks to their productions of "Antony and Cleopatra" and "King John" being available on UA-cam. Now, in this time of quarantine, each upload in this series has become a moment to look forward to, almost like having a ticket for a live performance which you treasure with anticipation. My deep appreciation for the Bard has been rekindled, once more, during these troubled times, and as a token of gratitude I intend to buy the DVD's of the Stratford's productions, which will be a worthy addition to my Shakespeare's library.
Coming back to this interview, one of the marks of Shakespeare's genius is the way he keeps inspiring artists and thinkers through the centuries, painters, cinema directors, other playwrights and poets, or essayists, who find in the Shakespeare's canon a timeless lens through which they are able to contemplate the human nature and reflect upon their own time. In that sense, Stephen Greenblatt's "Tiranny" was a magnificent achievement. Although James Shapiro was already on my radar, I must confess that I have read none of his books yet; this interview has convinced me of the necessity to put an end to that situation sooner rather than later!
Harold Bloom spoke of Literature as a Gnostic religion, with Shakespeare being its highest priest. Hopefully, this generous initiative by the Stratford Festival will help to ignite in a new generation a lifelong appreciation of Theatre in general, and the Great Bard in particular!
    Best regards.
