In either the late 90's or early 2000's we got my daughter a Quazy Quisp watch. It was actually a pretty good quality time piece. I think we still have it.
I need to add that Jay Ward, who produced cartoons like Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, Peabody and Sherman and George of the Jungle did the Quisp and Quake cartoons. William Conrad narrated Rocky & Bullwinkle which probably played a role in him becoming the voice of Quake.
Thanks for this video. I had seen pics of the original Quakes muscular miner but had no idea he was the same as the Quakes cowboy (as a Texan and a superhero fan he was a particular favorite mascot). And what a rarity that the revamping was actually given a commercial explaining it. And on top of it all, he'd had an on air rivalry with another cereal mascot and an alien. Thats more backstory than most comic books or cartoons give.

My sister and I liked Quisp but I also liked Quanaroo’s and was a little disappointed when it was discontinued like Quake. I guess corn cereals were mainly the peoples/kids choice. 😊
I would have sworn that Quake won the Quisp vs. Quake battle. I remember -- or thought I did -- watching the results being broadcast one Saturday morning. As a Quisp fan, I was deastated. And now I find out that it didn't happen that way? I wonder what I really saw??

yeah, you have it backward. I was 10 i think when this contest happened. i cut out the ballot and mailed it in. Quisp was the winner. I was disappointed cuz I voted for QUAKE! OMG. haha
I'm here for a weird reason. Chloe Bennet's character on MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. is a powerful telekinetic who can topple buildings with just her mind. In Season 5 they started calling her Quake. And I thought: "Wait a minute... Didn't that used to be a cereal?" So it was off to UA-cam, often a better reference source than Wikipedia. Watching this I instantly recognized the unmistakeable Jay Ward style. I still laugh remembering their live-action LIFE cereal commercial, a manic rapidfire minute of quick little blackout skits reminiscent of Ernie Kovac and maybe Vaudeville.
Quisp got 203,112 votes and Quake got 157,316 votes. That's over 360,00 kids cutting out ballots and mailing them in! all these years i wondered what the tally was. and it only took me about 50 years to find out. OMG UA-cam is the best.

@@TonyBoyOhBoy Actually my mom was pretty flexible, but I don't remember eating the cereal. She let me have a box of Freakies, and Sugar crisp. I didn't like eating corn pops or Honey combs, it hurt my gums, I didnt have bad teeth. I used to eat alot of cream of wheat with fruit cocktail.
@@lynnkanerva4519 I think I pretty much loved any sugar cereal because it was a treat. We usually had to eat things like Rice Krispies and add sugar. There were seven kids so we'd each got to have one bowl of the "good" cereal. 🤣
@@TonyBoyOhBoy Same here. I'm the last of seven, but it was only me and my brother(15 yrs older than me), the rest were grown, married and in their own homes by then. My brother was like a cross between Jethro( Beverly Hillbillies) and Hoss( Bonanza)he didn't mess with a regular bowl, he ate about 1/2 box at a time, so lt kinda was competition. We also had lots of Cheerios, and Cornflakes. I liked rice crispies but it never kept me full.

Totally agree. About 15 years back I realized that it was just a bowl full of sugar and haven't had a breakfast cereal since. But still great memories from back in the day!

I had one of those Quake helmets with a light. My brother favored Quisp; he got the motorized hat with a spinning propeller.

I got some Quisp at Big Lots years ago. I kept a few of the empty boxes. I have one attached to my fridge with magnets inside it.
I have some nostalgia items I have on a shelf and a Quisp box is one of them.

Yes! I loved the cartoons and the competition they always had. I think I looked forward to new episodes of them as much as Saturday morning cartoons.

I remember all 3 cereals. Orange quangaroos were actually really good. I did like quisp better than quake.
