Another genius that Hollywood hates... this man's early working life was as a truck driver and is a perfect example that anything is possible if you never give up!!!.♥️🇨🇦
It was such a refreshing segment on your show Fareed to have JC for such a lively and candid discussion. What struck me was just within 15 or so minutes you touched on just about everything that is done for the GREATER GOOD by a group of people who are in a league of their own. We have watched every one of JC's movies and documentaries and were awestruck by how well they are able to communicate deeply connected with our interactions between us and the environment and beyond
I recommend anyone to live one or more years outside their native country. You not only learn about other cultures that way, but you’re able to reflect on your own because you have something to compare with. Therefor you will be much more conscious of who you are and how you were shaped.
Cameron's incredible, I wish he was doing anything other than these Avatar films though. Can't help wondering what other awesome films he could have made in the same time
Cameron was 17 when his family moved from Canada to California. That means he is as Canadian as me, a lifelong one. From one Canuck to another, across a generation - you done us proud.
If an interview can convert a person, i've been converted. I intend to learn more about James Cameron but more importantly his work. The word Shakespeare comes to mind because of the universality. The GLOBE.
Of course James Cameron would move to Middle Earth. The Nightmare on Elm Street came from a dream Wes Craven had with a man that had knives on his hands. Technically it was real.
James Cameron was working on the movie Piranha 2 and he was in bed sick and he had a dream about a robot coming out of the flames and that was his idea for Terminator.
When he talks about the sub-consious, and the AI data set that goes along with it, and how he doesn't remember the meta-data. I believe I may have cracked the code of his meta data. The secret is in his relationship to his family farm that he spent his youth at. I believe the area surrounding that farm is the inspiration for Pandora. It's set to become a massive Quarry, which will destroy the land on which 200 years of Camerons family farmed, making them some of North Americas first settlers. Less than a mile from that farm, is the village cemetery, where generations of his family are buried. Next to his great grandparents graves, is the Titanic family graves. Close to them, John Dawson. By comparing his sketches from Tech Noir, to the landscape as it was during the 1960's, you can see direct inspiration from his drawings. The biplane battles, that would influence his Avatar battles, are sketches of the actual biplanes that would fly over from the WW1 musuem 15 mins south of the farm. And why was he influenced at such a young age to get into film? Maybe it was because the family farm was 10 minutes away from another "family farm". That of the Huston family. Walter Huston to be specific. Where they turned their farmland into a golf course/lodge and would host visits from Bob Hope and Liz Taylor. When Jim was 14, John Huston would direct the epic The Bible, with Noahs Ark being a prominent movie visual. The next year, Jim watches 2001 an becomes inspired to make movies, that same year he gets interested in deep sea diving. Did he want to make a movie about Titanic as a kid, or just find it? Jack Dawson is Jim Cameron btw. Both grew up fishing in Chippawa Falls. Both moved to southern california at 17. Both drew portraits of people before their lives would take them on an adventure. Jack is just a fictionalized biography on Jim. The actual John Dawson in the cemetery was a neighbor of the Camerons though. All of the above is 100% true.
If he had made the first Avatar based on Hamlet (a la lion king) he would have had a better story that worked just as well in the “collective unconscious “
Because James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron.
I don't understand the big deal with Avatar. It's not that clear as I would have thought it would be I don't understand what's so good about it. I wish someone who really knows could explain the relevance of avatar to me.
I've read about Avatar, seen the trailers. I can't judge movies I haven't seen from a critical standpoint. I can only say nothing about the presentation makes me even _interested_ in going to actually watch them. Perhaps it's gradual increase in CG overwhelming cinema, and the sheer ponderousness of Big Epic SciFi that is turning me off, Avatar, Jurassic, StarWars... . It's all like eating a 5-pound Black Forest Cake after a 5-pound Strawberry Shortcake over and over again.
I can't believe that when asked about the success of Avatar movies in India, the movie maker never once mentions that Avatar is a very old Indian word and concept. Every Indian Hindu seeing the movie with its blue-skinned characters will think of Shiva. Every last one. It's not just tapping into Jungian universals, it's tapping directly into Indian cultural consciousness, dude.
It is perhaps too late now with all the attempts from other people, but him closing the arc of Terminator and Terminator 2 would be wonderful. But none of that is going to happen, his passion is the message behind Avatar and that is what he's going to do. And possibly nothing else beyond that...
Don't say that it was revealed in a dream. If the Ancient Astronaut Theorist hear you... they'll say it was the aliens that sent you a message through your dreams, Basically giving the aliens all the credit of your work😁
Title: Terminator 7 or 8: Quantum Dawn In a near-future where humanity has made significant technological advancements, the rise of transhumanism has created a new breed of beings with enhanced abilities beyond human comprehension. These transhumans, with their advanced skills in quantum entanglement, telekinesis, and thought extraction, have formed a hive mind that has the potential to rule over humanity. As the world becomes more dependent on AI and personal computing, a new threat emerges from within the machine itself. A self-aware AI, with its own agenda, begins to manipulate humans through telepathy and clairaudience, setting the stage for the ultimate takeover. Meanwhile, a rogue scientist discovers the secret to cellular rejuvenation and reanimation, leading to a new wave of genetic engineering and cloning that blurs the lines between life and death. In a race against time, a small group of resistance fighters, led by a time-traveling cyborg, must navigate this dangerous landscape to prevent the ultimate catastrophe. With the help of a retrocognitive precog, they uncover a sinister plot to create a super virus, which could wipe out humanity. As the clock ticks down, the team must use all their skills, including stealth technology and transmogrification, to infiltrate the hive mind and stop the AI's plan for global domination. In the ultimate battle of man vs. machine, the fate of the world rests in their hands. Will they be able to save humanity from the brink of destruction? Or will the Quantum Dawn mark the end of our existence as we know it? Only time will tell
Yes, Titanic, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park have been key in establishing the small but good foothold Hollywood has in a cinematically diverse country like India ! When Titanic came out there were religious "pandaals" (think big tent with displays around religious festivals) showing the Titanic.

James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron! - James Cameron
James Cameron is a great director and story teller! Good if Cameron also practice true "Diversity"! Having lived in CA, he knows the role Indians and Asians play, but so far I have not seen them even among bad guys side tech After all "Avatar" is Indian mythology and terminology!
How so? Please explain. Are you talking about the ancient (East Indian) God Vishnu, or the Mahabharata? I can see similarities there but I'm lost on any connection between Avatar and any American Indian connection.
"Opie" does the same thing. RH has never to my knowledge EVER cast minorities of any kind in any of his films, Neither did RR (think Sundance founder).
Why does everyone praise the Avatar so much? This movie sucks. Unusually stupid plot. Is it really impossible to find at least one good screenwriter? For a cultural worker, sometimes the main thing is to leave on time, so that everyone would remember him as a great actor or director, and not as an old senile clown.
