From my perspective, it seems that he had so much to live for...I wish that he’d agreed...🥺❤️

This is an important part of rock & roll history. Del Shannon was a true genius and the world is at a loss without him. The man wrote "I go to pieces"! That should be enough. But he did much more.

Del Shannon wrote songs for others and he also was a record producer. In a nightclub him and Brian Hyland took interest in a group that they saw. The group was called Smith and Del Shannon also produced a song for Brian Hyland in 1970. He also did guitar work for Brian on that album.

Back in 1979 I rode my Harley to Texas to visit my sister and her new husband... got caught in a wild thunder storm and waited it out under an overpass. A couple stopped and asked if I needed any help and I said " you have any Del Shannon tapes in the car ? " R.I.P..... one of the best in music history.

WOW! I've noticed in all his live shows, Del really put his heart and soul into doing the best for each of his shows. I never got to see him on stage in concert and sure regret that. It seems he sure was able to bring the best out of the crowds and looks like he enjoyed doing what he did. He put on a wonderful performance. His voice was strong and his music was awesome. There will never be another like him. RIP Del. Hope I get to meet you in the afterlife.

Singing is a gift if a person has it he can do what he pleases with his voice. He was able to sing falsetto not everyone had that gift. With those falsetto vocals he influenced the Beach Boys, The 4 Seasons, and Lou Christie.

IMO Runaway is the definitive rock song, singularly defining the genre of Rock n' Roll. If I was choosing a rock song representing the genre to send up in a space capsule for aliens to find, I'd go with Runaway. That said, it's incomprehensible that with such an accomplishment, and all the other hit records and accolades, respect and recognition, they weren't enough to keep Mr Shannon from preferring the eternal night of non-being.

Depression is an illness. It is "chemical" No two patients are the same and neither is the treatment. Depression is not being down or blue for a couple days. It is a disease that you cannot talk yourself out of just think happy thoughts. My heart goes out to families who have a loved one that might be just hanging on. People sick with depression need love, support and above all compassion and a willingness to love unconditionally. Love Del and it makes me sad that life became so black and hopeless for him but I understand. I walk in his shoes.
