Yes, it does seem to solidify relationships.
One of my daughters has a recurrence of her disease, and it certainly has our entire family, although separated across the country, and overseas, keeping in touch much more frequently.
As a parent, it's a helpless, soul destroying situation, yet it is so important to support, and be with her for as many sessions as possible.
There is no quick fix, and the treatment seems interminable.
Please allow the King, and the Princess of Wales to manage their situations, with support of their health teams, in peace.
Sorry, I realise that my short post has gone on a bit, but our situation is all consuming, at least for me.❤

Neither are cancer free. My father died of cancer within 9mths of a diagnosis. No one healed him from cancer.

Due to etiquette it was not so much Catherine standing next to Charles but Charles wanting Catherine to stand next to him.
She is the beloved daughter in law who Charles obviously adores, I have noticed when greeting Catherine its hug first curtsey second, hence Catherine nearly toppling over at one Christmas service, Catherine went for the curtsey as etiquette demands but Charles did hug first .
Also he did allow her to wear his grandmother's tiara last year and he had a special bond with her, so the tiara was a high mark of love for Catherine.
Loved it a BRAVE STOIC KING, and a WARRIOR PRINCESS, made my old heart happy for a change and the other ladies. Catherine wanted to be there for her children. Not to control them. The last thing in her mind is anything but quirky time for her children. Anybody with ANY KNOWLEDGE OF CANCER knows that nor smooth is an internet part of recovery. NOW LEAVE HER ALONE.

We need to remember that Charles and his siblings were raised by the nanny, in the nursery area, not with regular long contact with their parents. That's the way the rich did it, not just royals. In many ways it's still done that way today with many rich families. I believe that Diana would be so proud of William and his choice of a mate. She has helped continue the hands on approach that Diana wanted her sons raised with. I believe Charles did the best he could then. I believe that he's watched the way they are such hands on parents, as well as Zara and Mike are. He has realized what joy can come from the small or even mundane, to you, things you do. Louis grabbing at his hair in that family photo says a lot of the joy he can participate in. I believe he's watched Kate's parents and realized he's missing something, HE DID NOT KNOW BEFORE. I feel sorry every time I see the video of the Queen and Philip coming home from a long trip and no hugs or kisses from mom or dad. Dad didn't pick him up and carry him. He was only about two and one half. They were also gone for his military service almost the entire time she was pregnant with Anne returning home in time for her birth in the UK. Charles was left at home all those months also. His heart has found it expands with each new adventure he's participating in. He has found his place in life and is happy and so much more confident.

Unfortunately there has been much cancer in Charles' family, going back several generations that we know of. Hopefully they will do all checks or testing available today to try to prevent it if possible.

Another way to look at it, is that when you are very long-lived, the chances of cancer are greater.
And the BRF are incredibly long-lived.
