Theo has once again done a beautiful job inside and out! And this is from someone who helped and mostly watched her late husband build a 2400 square foot house in the Texas Hill Country.
Gary would have notched that staircase in with his jigsaw and set the tredders in that way ,but I think I like the way that Theo did it better. If you have enough of the cladding to make shingles, it might look cute to put a little 3-foot by 4-foot awning over your doorway to help protect you from the rain and to also protect that beautiful stained glass that's in your doorway. Y'all have the fanciest dang outhouse that it has ever been my experience to see kids! All that you need now would be a crystal chandelier that is powered by solar panels to provide Lighting in there. ;-)

@@theindieprojects yes Bee & Theo, Gary was a very knowledgeable man. He was the only person I knew of who could look at a piece of medieval armor, start doing the math, get a piece of sheet metal and start cutting after he had drawn out his plans on a paper napkin. I know that there are others out there that can do the exact same thing he was just the only one whom I knew. He was able to do the same thing with any construction project that he cared to complete. We had a two-story Texas Farmhouse package home kit delivered in late May of 1983, only to have a ranch style floor plan and instruction booklet sent for what was supposed to be a two-story structure. Gary went to his various manuals and adapted the materials that we were given. Since we put pressurized lumber on the first floor for the floor joists we were able to double the floor joists on the second floor as well as with the staircase. We were able to put our king size waterbed upstairs and not have to worry about it falling through.
An even greater blessing was that his father was a concrete and steel construction engineer. Dad's degree was an architectural engineering and over his 60 year professional career wrote monographs, textbooks ,and other types of papers , as well as editing books that are now considered the gold card standard of that particular type of engineering throughout the world. Dad designed the interlocking pieces of the Washington DC metro line, or as you call it the underground, that goes throughout the nation's capital and all around its surrounding areas as far as outlying towns in Virginia and
Maryland. Gary would always run a design idea past Dad before we actually started on the build. Gary passed away in 2006 and Dad just passed away this past Tuesday. Both were those giant of a man type Texans that everybody sees portrayed in movies, but they were that kind of man in real life.
That is why I can sit back and see what you two kids are doing and be appreciative of the type of building that Theo is doing, because it's very much like what Dad and Gary would have done. The only recommendation I would give you and it's not for your Outhouse building but for your existing barn is put in some reflective barrier up against that roof , sort of like the reflectix in a van build , so that it will repel the heat from the Summer sun...if you do that with the existing structure, the temperature difference between the two will be roughly 20 degrees Fahrenheit cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Trust me on this one, and just listen to your Texas Hill Country granny and do it! We did it at our Medina Lake House in 1983 before it became an industry-standard here in Texas. It cut our Energy bill in half of what most people's were for an equal sized house.
And yes before I had to sell that house in 2011, I had remodeled the downstairs bedroom and created a master bath out of a storage room next to it . I had a black crystal chandelier over my jetted tub. 😉😊😋 I absolutely loved it!
P.S. I absolutely hate the fact that this stinking Android telephone of mine cannot understand my Texas accent half of the time! Stinking piece of junk!

Bea and Theo have you thought of protecting your cladding, doing a technique called: “Shou-Sugi-Ban” is Japanese and literally translates to “burnt cedar board”. It seals the wood and makes it water shed. Many a You Tube video on it. My grandad used this technique on his cabins and outhouses in Maine USA. Just a thought. Love to you both and of course Gingie 🥰 Nana B

Good job! About the stairs I just would recommend two screws per side. If the wood is out in the weather all the time it will dry out often and this can result in „shape shift“ and the one screw can crack.
