She’s right. It’s a “drop”. A lot of work, time away from family, and money tied up into something that’s essentially a drug. Being onstage is incredible, even more incredible when people SOMEHOW sing your songs back to you. When the show is over, it’s over, and the grind begins again. It’s not for everybody and I think it’s great that she just hit on the feeling of “now what?” It’s honesty I don’t hear very often from those who actually do this. Shaun Morgan is the only other musician I’ve heard say this in an interview. I know others have touched on this, but I don’t hear it often.
Yeah, most people have no idea how hard that life really is and just how much struggle and work it really is. They watch a 2 hour concert and think it's a group of people just having fun together. They don't see the thousands of hours of writing, practice, arguing, and tears. They're not around for the hundreds of small shows in any number of dives or backyard parties where you're struggling just to be taken seriously. It's not something most people have the constitution for. They'd also be surprised at the amount of disrespect and people trying to pay you in "exposure." But when you get on that stage, and you give yourself over? There's nothing else in the world quite like it. It's probably the closest you can come to a genuine religious experience.
Lacy, you were a huge release from my youth when I was a single mother years to my single years. I am forever grateful/thankful to you , the band and God that you became a part of my mental health! 🤗❤️💞💕
@@CallMeKichaelmeanwhile she has more substance to her than you'll ever know if you think she is anything but a beautiful person inside and out. She has beauty to her that is only explained by her love of the Lord. Quit being so shallow.
I got really close with all of the Flyleaf dudes and their second singer when Kristin was behind the helm. Everyone of these people is a rock, solid musician and person.
When I lived back home in Mississippi, I hung out with these white kids. They were my friends. I learned about Flyleaf bc of them. Flyleaf was coming to a small town and one of my friends wanted to invite me to her parents house so I could see them perform. Her parents chewed her out when they found out I was Black. Didn’t get a chance to see them that time. Still so happy I found out about this band.

Omg omg omg I never realized how much we look alike and now I've been filled with so much confidence 😊❤❤❤❤ I freaking love you since I was literally like 6 or 7 years old.
She left because they’re very close friend and sound manager who toured with them for 10 years passed away and it hit her and her husband and the rest of the band really hard and she decided to spend time raising her son instead of working
I think it's akin to mountain climbing, in a way. You put in all this work getting strong, learning with and using the tools, learning how to climb, figuring out the best path up. And then once you're on top of that mountain, you might think to yourself the same thing. "Okay, now what?" The best answer I can think of? Climb another mountain.
Thats why so many party. Its like being in a firefight for a cpl mins thats super intense and then its just over. Huge adrenaline dump and youre all keyed up and then its over in an instant.

I got to have chinese food with her and the rest of the band after a Battle of the Bands at The Engine Room in Houston TX before they got famous. They were clearly the best but sadly got 2nd behind a Metallica cover band.
It’s what happens after all the adrenaline and dopamine you get from being on stage and being on tour with a huge rock band and meeting all these die hard fans, then going back to your normal life.
I was in a bible support group back in 2007/2008. The guy's brother was in a band called Fabrik. They were competing with Flyleaf back in the day to get a record deal.
I also had this discussion with our drummer. He didn't seem as affected by it, but for me as the frontwoman, the greater the show, the harder the drop.
I need to know how the band was able to focus on playing their instruments with this this perfection prancing around and rocking out in front of them during the all around me video it blows my mind
Dude the amount of ego death after being almost in God mode from being a star regardless of what medium definitely should come with free therapy after the ride is over....or should be
Flyleaf, don't think I could have got through those teen years without em.
Same!!

Lacey talked to me while I served in iraq in 2007-2008. I appreciated her words of support. Thank you
My Cousin served in 10th Mountain I believe Iraq was his last tour around that time and got out around 2008-2009. I first heard Flyleaf from him.
how iraqi oil smell like?
Christians killing people.. hilarious.
Thank you for your service to America, and indirectly to the world. Love from South Africa.
Thank you for your service !
Her tone and vocals are so unique and powerful. I feel "Fully Alive" when she sings
Yes I completely understand what you mean!!!!
Saw them at sick new world, huge honor. Never thought I'd ever see them live.
Too bad they weren’t here this year but at least I got to see System
@Eminence_1337 a lot of bands didn't go back to sick new world again this year. Lacey is doing a solo tour and I'm gonna attend, hopefully
So happy you are all back in Flyleaf. Please come to CT!! ❤
Wait, what? Flyleaf did a few reunion shows in 2023, but that was it. I guess at the time of this interview you hoped it would be more permanent 😔

Recently became a fan of them, and I can't believe I didn't discover them sooner. Fricking incredible band 💖
Yea. I discovered them late too. Missed all the live shows.
What's worse is that I discovered them when they were still touring and never made it to a show 😢
