    You're right about the 'helpful' aspect. I try to always have a useful takeaway in my UA-cam series that viewers can benefit from.
    Regarding SEO, I think titles/descriptions/tags used to critical in the UA-cam algorithm. Now not so much. Most major creators don't even put in descriptions as to what their individual videos are about. The description boxes are full of their social media sites, Amazon gear referral links & other generic stuff. The current algorithm is all about watch time & engagement over metadata.

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  7 років тому +2

      You're correct on the importance of SEO once you have a huge channel because your authority is so strong you'll be promoted within UA-cam (the amount this is currently happening comes up under "browse features" in your traffic sources page in your analytics) without having to research and optimize for all of your topics because people are loving your content on a massive scale which makes UA-cam internally promote the heck out of your videos.
      For smaller channels that are trying to grow, SEO is still critical to get things started and get some initial growth coming in so they can get people watching videos, so they can gain watch time and engagement to increase their authority while waiting for the algorithm to take notice and start promoting the channel. Mix the two as you're growing and you're styling.

    When you start out ..should the focus be more on quality or should it be more on just releasing videos and overtime as you get use to it, you improve quality. what is the balance on releasing quality content vs releasing videos on time and not falling into procrastination/over focusing on making the "perfect" video?

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  5 років тому +12

      You want to focus on getting used to the process first, keeping a sustainable schedule, and then focus on improving the quality of your content and production over time as you hone those skills.

    Nick Nimmin as a viewer and consumer one of the bonus things I look for is replies or interactions in comment section from the creator.I appreciate this must be extremely hard the more you grow and the higher the number of subscribers (that part is easy for me as a very small and relatively new creator) but I noticed you have a few great replies in this section and show concern and emotion in your responses.So for that reason (besides the obvious,like content etc) I am subscribing.Look forward to getting to know you through your content,cheers.

    • @NickNimmin
      @NickNimmin  7 років тому +27

      Everyone grows at different rates, hang in there. One of the worse things to do for your mind state is direct comparisons with other channels, especially channels that make different types of content. The reason is because some channels/types of content naturally get more interaction than others. Some channels take a while to get going and then take off out of nowhere. Some channels rock out of the gate and then stagnate. So that direct comparison can really have an impact on your mind state.
      I personally struggle with this a lot as well because I compare what I'm doing with other channels similar to mine and it can get frustrating but when you really look into it there is always a reason. Maybe it's more uploads, maybe they have more friends on Facebook they can share with, maybe they have a following outside of UA-cam, etc. Tons of variables at play.

    I have a tip for any Minecraft gaming channel. To atract an audience you need these: 1. Good Minecraft building skills 2. A mic 3. A screen recorder and 5. An editing software. First make a " how to " video ( ex: how to build a house ) then in the process of building the house walls or something like that add a time lapse with music. Then people will get curious about your channel and they will find some let's plays and other stuff! Leave a like if this helped;

      U haven't set up an actual channel page. Your page should have a home page, videos, playlists, community, and about me. You should also have a channel banner and things like that. If u set up an actual page that should help alot

    You basically explained it across two of the tips, but I’m about 4 months in and by far the hardest thing for me is predicting my workload. I’ll often write a script and gather all the supporting clips etc that I’ll need to compile the video, only to find that my audio is twice the length of the material I prepared to show underneath it. Ends up taking a lot of my time editing out the air in the dialogue and trying to condense that stuff, but again- that process is tightening up over time and I’m definitely starting to build a nice workable layout for structuring and recording my videos. Seems like some of that stuff will always be a bit difficult to anticipate though.

  • @diogos7233

    It's amazing the way you interact with the camera (us). Your jump cuts are out of this world. Care to upload a raw video, a making off, no editing? That would be amazing and extremely useful. A lot of people(myself included) freeze after hitting the record button. I think that showing people some non edited video would be very useful, and easy for you. Thanks again
